  • Patent number: 7093828
Abstract: The present invention is directed generally to tools that are high quality, strong, and lightweight. For example, various tools such as clamps may be made using parts containing a compound or alloy including magnesium. Magnesium may be for cast or extruded parts. In one embodiment, an “F” style clamp may be made with one or both of the two cooperating jaw members or sections being cast from a magnesium compound or alloy. In one variation, the “F” style clamp may include a shaft made from extruded magnesium. In another embodiment, a “C” style clamp may be made with the “C” shaped frame being cast from a magnesium compound or alloy. In a further embodiment, a bar clamp having trigger indexing may me made with one or both of two jaw members or sections being cast from a magnesium compound or alloy. In a variation, the bar may be an extruded magnesium.

  • Publication number: 20050100386
Abstract: The present invention is directed generally to building tools that are high quality, durable, and in some case lightweight. For example, various tools may made by forming multiple sections into a single integrated piece by, for example, casting the parts using a molding process so as to reduce manufacturing cost and increase the structural durability of the tool. Further, various tools may be made, at least in part, using a material including magnesium to reduce the weight of the tool. Still further, various tools may be made using one or more protective coatings for protecting various metals against corrosion, for example, using a high impact coating such as paint covered with a clear coat of lacquer.

  • Patent number: 6717408
Abstract: An open or split type MRI apparatus has two axially spaced magnet coil half sections separated and supported by a compact support structure. Only two diametrically opposed supports are needed to react the high axial and torsional loads produced or received by the MRI apparatus. • Patent number: 6662530
Abstract: A dual chamber sachet with a dispensing outlet can be made in a form/fill sequence by attaching the dispensing outlet to the film that is to form the chamber divider wall followed by attaching films that are to form the outer walls of the sachet to the dispensing outlet. The upper and side lateral edges of the sachet then are sealed together to produce a sachet with an open bottom end. The sachet can be produced from three film sources, two film sources with the outer walls being formed from a single film, or from a single film formed into a W-shape. The sachet preferably is filled through the open bottom end and the bottom end then sealed. However the sachet can be top filled through the nozzle. The sachets then are severed one from the other by cutting along a lateral seal and packed into a carton, or preformatted along a lateral seal and cut to produce a string of a set number of sachets. The sachets can have a single use dispensing outlet or a reclosable dispensing outlet.

  • Patent number: 6526225
Abstract: A digital video recorder employing standard hard disk arrays employs a caching system to enable continuous video data to be supplied to and provided from the standard disk drives which may not be adapted for continuous data stream operation. The system is implemented as an array of disk drives and includes cache management functions for governing disk read and write operations. A predictor enables the cache to predict disk reads and disk writes and to maintain the cache based on the predictions. Redundancy enables playback in the event of failure of a drive in the array and also provides improved playback data retrieval time.

  • Patent number: 6454130
Abstract: A closure for a multi-chamber container can have a flow director device that will assist in the dispensing of the products from the multi-chamber tube in a number of product streams that are greater than the number of chambers in the container. This provides versatility in the dispensing of products from such tubes. By the use of several different closures with different flow patterns different products can be delivered in a number of patterns form the same container.

  • Patent number: 6424502
Abstract: A disk having a data storage medium for use with a disk drive having read/write heads for engagement with the data storage medium. An apparatus and method for roll-stabilized head lifting is disclosed for loading and unloading the read/write heads of the disk drive on to and off of the disk storage medium. The lifter device uses a sliding shelf that lifts the suspension from below thereby reducing roll during the loading and unloading operations and also helping to keep scraping debris off the suspension.
