  • Patent number: 9010026
Abstract: In one aspect, a method of operating a movable barrier operator includes engaging a flexible driven member with a drive of the movable barrier operator. The method includes moving the flexible driven member in a first direction to move a movable barrier connected to the driven member and monitoring the position of the movable barrier. In response to the movable barrier reaching a given position, the driven member is moved in a second direction without moving the movable barrier to remove slack from the driven member. A movable barrier apparatus includes a movable barrier controller operatively coupled to the movable barrier operator. The movable barrier controller is configured to cause the movable barrier operator to reverse direction of the flexible driven member a distance after stopping movement of the movable barrier without moving the movable barrier.

  • Publication number: 20150026136
Abstract: According to some embodiments, logic executing on a processor receives a request to compare a first file and a second file. Each file comprises records, attributes, and attribute values. An attribute value is a value that a record associates with a corresponding attribute. The logic receives a mapping file indicating a key and one or more selected attributes for comparison. The logic compares each record in the first file to its corresponding record in the second file, the corresponding record determined according to the key. For records that fail to match, the logic determines which of the selected attributes are unmatched. The logic communicates a report indicating a result of comparing the first file and the second file.

  • Patent number: 8898228
Abstract: Methods and systems for creating and retrieving scalable media files using a chunking model. A plurality of network abstraction layer (NAL) units representing a scalable media presentation are grouped into a plurality of video chunks wherein each chunk represents only the NAL units of one layer and a specific time period. The plurality of video chunks are then stored in one or more scalable media files along with indexing information which provides information for retrieving the NAL units from each video chunk. In this manner, a client can request only the video chunks (and thus NAL units) that it needs or wants to achieve a specific bandwidth.

  • Publication number: 20140228454
Abstract: An apparatus and a methods for dispersing particulate materials prone to agglomeration, in a liquid. Particulate materials are exposed to a liquid and put into that liquid to form a suspension or a dispersion in a controlled method thereby minimizing agglomerates. The method uses mechanical/hydro mixing that prevents the physical deterioration of the particulate material and inhibits agglomeration of the particles. In many cases, these materials may be nano materials. Almost all particulate materials can be handled in this manner. This method has been found to be especially useful for preparing solutions of exfoliated graphene and certain drugs.

  • Publication number: 20130309495
Abstract: Graphene produced by media ball milling has very small particle size, a relatively high surface area and unique aspect ratios. It is uniquely suited to make nano-composites or coating by coating or admixing other particles. Metals or metal oxides can be coated or formed into composites with the high surface area, relatively low aspect ratio graphene. If the added particles are larger than the graphene, they are coated with graphene, and if they are about the same approximate size, a nano-composite forms. The nanocomposites are useful for producing electrodes, especially for battery and supercapacitor applications.

  • Patent number: 8555452
Abstract: The present invention is directed generally to building tools that are high quality, durable, and in some case lightweight. Various tools may be made, at least in part, using a material including magnesium to reduce the weight of the tool. For example, a trowel includes a tang, support member or attachment member that may be made, at least in part, of a magnesium material so as to create a more light weight trowel. The tang, support member or attachment member connects the trowel handle to the trowel blade. The trowel blade may be made of a steel material or a high carbon steel material for high durability. The trowel may be, for example, a concrete trowel including a cross-ground trowel, a flat back end finishing trowel, or a round/round finishing trowel.

  • Publication number: 20130146623
Abstract: A portable beverage container holder having a straw retainer. The beverage container is secured to an adjustable elastic armband that removably secures to a user's upper arm. A beverage container is included that fits snuggly within the beverage container holder. The container has a removable lid and a flexible straw that extends through the lid so that one end is enclosed within the beverage container and the upper end is exposed to the outside air. A straw-retainer is disposed along the exterior of the beverage container holder and removably retains a flexible straw in a pre-positioned orientation. This allows users to drink from the beverage container without using their hands to hold or position the straw.

  • Patent number: 8301696
Abstract: Methods and systems for delivering scalable media content from a server to a client are provided. A server index is provided to a media server for indexing the layers of scalable content in the form of media data groups. The client transmits at least one media request comprising a scalable media presentation identifier, a requested quality identifier and a requested layer identifier. Based on the at least one request, the server identifies the requested media data groups and transmits the requested media data groups to the client. The client receives the requested media data groups, which may be a subset of all available media data groups, and reorders the media data into decoding order for subsequent decoding and playback.
