Publication number: 20120001447Abstract: A vehicular console storage system has a pivotable lid and a striker movable with the lid. A pawl is mounted in a fixed location for selectably receiving the striker, wherein the pawl is movable between a latching position and a release position. The pawl holds the striker so that the lid is held closed when in the latching position, and the pawl has a cam surface. A spring-loaded cam follower is at least in partial contact with the cam surface and is movable between an extended position and a retracted position to provide a first resistance to motion of the pawl from the latching position to the release position. The first resistance is easily overcome by manual manipulation by a user. A movable lever has an activated position and a deactivated position, wherein the activated position interferes with movement of the pawl from the latching position to the release position. An inertial sensor is provided for moving the movable lever to the activated position in response to a predetermined acceleration.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2010Publication date: January 5, 2012Applicant: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Scott Simon, Raymond A. Publication number: 20110018286Abstract: A latch mechanism is provided for securing a storage compartment door within a vehicle. The latch mechanism includes a mounting bracket, a handle, and an undivided, one piece latching member. The latching member includes a main body portion, a first pliable leg portion, a second pliable leg portion, a first post portion, and a second post portion. The latching member is in a relaxed position when the handle is in the latched position and a flexed position when the handle is in the unlatched position. The handle includes at least one abutment member for displacing the main body portion of the latching member as the handle is pivoted from the latched position to the unlatched position. Displacement of the main body portion causes the first and second pliable leg portions to resiliently retract which retracts the first post member and the second post member from extended post positions to retracted post positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2009Publication date: January 27, 2011Inventors: Daniel Mitchell, JR., James Scott Simon, Stacey H. Publication number: 20080157963Abstract: A method and system for automatically displayed data on a keypad display of a security system. The system receives the data from an external database, determines whether the data is to be displayed based upon at least one display criterion, formats the data for displaying on the keypad display in a format compatible with the keypad display and displays the data in the format compatible with the keypad display. The system actively polls a third party source for the data and stores the data in the external database. The determination whether the data is to be displayed be can performed at the local security system or a central network operation center.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2006Publication date: July 3, 2008Applicant: Honeywell International, Inc.Inventors: Christopher D. Patent number: 7321301Abstract: A safety light is activated by a wireless signal from a control panel in a home security system is response to detection of a fire by the system. The safety light alerts rescuers of rooms in a home in which children may be located. The light may be window, door or wall-mounted, and have a single, or dual opposing, backlit faces. The backlit face includes a logo and/or text that is quickly recognized by rescuers. For example, a logo of a firefighter carrying a baby may be used with the text “tot rescue”. The safety light may communicate status information to the control panel, such as a low battery condition or a tamper alert. A tamper alert switch detects tampering with the housing of the safety light or its installation. Additional safety lights provide ambient illumination and directional information to an exit.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2003Date of Patent: January 22, 2008Assignee: Honeywell International, Inc.Inventors: Michael T.
