  • Publication number: 20170221011
Abstract: This disclosure provides for a system and method for managing network-connected industrial assets. A user may request monitored data for one or more of the network-connected industrial assets using a client device that is communicatively coupled to an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) machine. The IIoT machine monitors and records data for various metrics for one or more industrial assets communicatively coupled to the IIoT machine. Using the client device, the user defines a timeframe that the IIoT machine has recorded data for one or more of the more industrial assets. In response to a calendar event broadcast by a calendar web component of the client device, other web components communicate with the IIoT machine to receive and display the recorded data.

Using the client device, the user can request the display of various views of the one or more industrial assets including a hierarchical tree structure and a topology view. Furthermore, the hierarchical tree structure and topology view are designed to be simultaneously displayed by the client device so that the user can view information about a selected industrial asset from either the hierarchical tree structure, the topology view, or both.

  • Patent number: 9591039
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a region-based method for sharing photos between devices. The method establishes an image-sharing event for a particular region, which in some embodiments is defined in terms of one or more geographic attributes (e.g., a latitude, a longitude, and one or more shape attributes that define a shape about the intersection of the latitude and the longitude). The method then allows devices that enter the particular region to join the image-sharing event, so that (1) the devices can capture and add photos for the event, and (2) they can view and save photos captured by other devices that joined the event. To facilitate the sharing of the photos, the method of some embodiments makes the photos that are captured for the event available for viewing for a period of time after the event has ended. This extra time provides the event participants more time to view and save photos captured for the event.

  • Publication number: 20160295605
Abstract: A device includes a controller, a memory, and a processor. The controller receives reservation details. The reservation details includes a device identifier for a first information handling system reserved to pair with the device in response to a start of a specific period of time. The memory stores the reservation details. The processor receives a request to pair with the device during the specific period of time from the first information handling system, determines whether the first information handling system has reserved pairing with the device during the specific period of time, and if the first information handling system has reserved pairing with the device during the specific period of time, pairs the device with the first information handling system, otherwise denies the request to pair.

  • Patent number: 9400538
Abstract: A docking station connects through a docking port and docking cable with an information handling system to support communication between the information handling system and docking station peripherals. The docking cable includes an integrated input device, such as a mechanical button or fingerprint scanner, which accepts an end user input to command a power state transition at the information handling system, such as a transition between an on state and a reduced power state. The power state transition is sent directly from the integrated input device to the information handling system or, alternatively, from the integrated input device to the docking station and then from the docking station to the information handling system.

  • Patent number: 9377814
Abstract: A docking station connects through a docking port and docking cable with an information handling system to support communication between the information handling system and docking station peripherals. On initial interface, one data lane of the docking port establishes a temporary management interface, such as an I2C management bus, to configure the docking station. After configuration, a docking manager, virtual wireless access point and power block cooperate to assign data lanes of the docking port and wireless communication resources to information transfer and power transfer functions based upon processing and communication tasks performed at the information handling system.
