  • Patent number: 9131895
Abstract: An electrode configured to provide electrical contact with a subject's skin and includes a conductive layer and a gel layer. The conductive layer spreads current and transmits electrical signals to and/or receives electrical signals from the subject's skin and has a first conductive surface through which electrical signals are transmitted to and/or received from the subject's skin. The first conductive surface is on a side of the conductive layer that faces toward the subject's skin if the electrode is installed on the subject. The gel layer is formed on the same side of the conductive layer as the first conductive surface. The gel layer has a first interface surface that directly contacts the subject's skin if the electrode is installed on the subject, and to conduct electrical signals between the subject's skin and the first conductive surface. The first interface surface has a surface area larger than that of the first conductive surface.

  • Patent number: 8935480
Abstract: A merchant system computes various probabilities that visitors to a Web site will request individual Web pages of the Web site. The computed probabilities are then utilized to cache Web pages having the highest probabilities of being requested to a client device. The probability data may include aggregate probability data that defines the probability that any visitor to the Web site will request a Web page, customer segment probability data that defines the probability that customers in a particular customer segment will visit the Web pages, and/or customer-specific probability data that defines the probability that a specific customer of the Web site will visit the Web pages. Only Web pages having a computed probability greater than a caching threshold may be cached at the client device. Additionally, the Web pages may also be cached at the client device based upon the actual interaction with the Web site by a visitor.

  • Patent number: 8713781
Abstract: A decorative trim assembly and the process of manufacturing includes providing a clip, supplying an elongated metal bright strip, and inserting the clip inside the metal bright strip. Subsequently, bending the assembled bright strip with the clip along its longitudinal extent provides a final conformation of the structure. It is subsequently secured to a weatherstrip by snap-fit operation. The end customer maintains the ability to service the decorative trim piece independently of the weatherstrip system.

  • Patent number: 8683582
Abstract: A method and system for electronic access security uses touches and movements on a touch sensitive surface to determine graphical passcode that are used in a manner similar to passwords. Graphical passcodes comprise various combinations of swipes, taps or drags on a touchscreen surface as defined by a user. A user's selected graphical passcode is stored in memory for comparison to subsequent entries of graphical passcode in order to authenticate the users. An envelope may be generated to define a range of acceptable pressure, speed, coordinate positions or other parameters, as a function of time or position, required for passcode authentication. The envelope may be stored in a computer memory and is used to authenticate a user by determine whether an entered graphical passcode falls within the envelope.

  • Patent number: 8633949
Abstract: Methods and devices provide a user interface that provides visual cues when a document pan or scroll has reached an end or boundary by distorting the document image in response to further user inputs. The image distortion functionality may include shrinking, stretching, accordion expansion, or bouncing of a document image. The degree of image distortion may be proportional to the distance that a user input would have the document move beyond the encountered boundary. When a boundary of a document image is reached during a rapid pan or scroll, a bouncing image distortion may be applied to the document image to inform the user that the document reached a boundary during the movement.

  • Patent number: 8539751
Abstract: A propulsion thrust control system and method for controlling thrust in a rocket motor includes configuring valves of an energized rocket motor to an initial total valve area according to a total thrust command. The total thrust command is converted into a commanded propellant mass flow discharge rate. A varying total valve area is computed from an error between the commanded propellant mass flow discharge rate and a calculated propellant mass flow discharge rate. The valves are reconfigured according to a distribution of the varying total valve area. The propulsion system includes a pressure vessel with valves and a controller for regulating the valve area according to a propellant mass flow discharge rate from the pressure vessel.

  • Publication number: 20130152472
Abstract: A weatherstrip such as a glass run incorporates an associated anti-entrapment sensor. The glass run includes an elastomeric material having first and second legs interconnected by a base wall that together receive an associated automotive window peripheral edge and a recess formed in the elastomeric material dimensioned to receive the associated anti-entrapment sensor therein. The recess has a substantially T-shaped cross-sectional cavity in one embodiment and the pinch sensor has a substantially T-shaped cross-sectional conformation dimensioned for mating receipt in the T-shaped cavity. Facing, first and second flexible sidewall portions flex for ease of insertion and retention of the pinch sensor in the cavity. A fusible layer secures the weatherstrip and pinch sensor after assembly thereof. Preferably, the weatherstrip is formed from multiple materials, one of which is a low friction material.

  • Patent number: 8197120
Abstract: The invention is concerned with testing of inhalers used for medicament delivery. Such devices are often intended to be first shaken by a user to prepare them, and then fired by operation of some mechanical mechanism. In order to automate testing, the invention provides a shake device having a carriage 14 for receiving and releasably mounting one or more inhalers. The carriage is mounted upon a guideway for linear movement upon it. A linear motor 26 is operatively coupled to the carriage to reciprocally drive it to shake the mounted inhaler(s). A system embodying the invention may further comprise a fire device having a movable firing member 54, 56 for engaging with an inhaler mounted in the carriage and actuating its firing mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20120065882
Abstract: A method of processing location data at a portable computing device is provided and includes receiving information associated with a user defined location at the portable computing device. The information includes a central point and an entry indication perimeter. An entry alert associated with the user defined location is received at the portable computing device. The location of the portable computing device is monitored to determine when the portable computing device crosses the entry indication perimeter associated with the central point of the user defined location indicating that the portable computing device is proximate to the user defined location. The method further includes switching the portable computing device from a roaming state to an entry state indicating that the portable computing device is about to enter the user defined location. An indication can be provided to the user that the portable computing device has switched to the entry state.
