  • Publication number: 20210211738
Abstract: Given a sequence of images in a first codeword representation, methods, processes, and systems are presented for image reshaping using rate distortion optimization, wherein reshaping allows the images to be coded in a second codeword representation which allows more efficient compression than using the first codeword representation. Syntax methods for signaling reshaping parameters are also presented.

  • Patent number: 11047410
Abstract: An apparatus for aligning and shimming plates being anchored to a substratum having a plurality of threaded anchor holes coaxially aligned with corresponding apertures and coaxial threaded bores through each plate. The apparatus includes an external threaded cylindrical shim having a shimming surface and a second (outer) surface adapted to accept rotary force for rotational movement and adjustment of the separation produced by the shim between the substratum and the anchored plate. For anchoring, the 2nd surface of the shim further includes a counterbored or countersunk hole having a shoulder including a narrower passthrough aperture aligned with the threaded anchor hole, through which an anchor screw extends for rotational mating with the threaded anchor hole. The anchor screw also has a head wider than the passthrough aperture, and adapted to accept rotary force for rotational movement and fixing the shim in place.

  • Publication number: 20210174109
Abstract: Embodiments relate to an intelligent computer platform to create a document specific error correction model for amending OCR values. An image of a document is received and OCR is applied to the received image. Text is extracted from at least one static content field and the extracted text is compared to stored text from known static content. Responsive to a deviation identified in the comparison, a document specific error correction model is created and leveraged to correct OCR output. The model generates one or more variants for the dynamic content field associated with the static content field having the identified deviation. The generated variant(s) is subject to processing and one of the variants is selected as amended document content. A new document version is created from the amendment, the new document version including corrected OCR output.

  • Patent number: 10999585
Abstract: Methods and systems for frame rate scalability are described. Support is provided for input and output video sequences with variable frame rate and variable shutter angle across scenes, or for input video sequences with fixed input frame rate and input shutter angle, but allowing a decoder to generate a video output at a different output frame rate and shutter angle than the corresponding input values. Techniques allowing a decoder to decode more computationally-efficiently a specific backward compatible target frame rate and shutter angle among those allowed are also presented.

  • Patent number: 10977779
Abstract: A coded video sequence is received in a bitstream with a set of content scan adaptive metadata. It is ascertained if the set of content scan adaptive metadata is received. The set of content scan adaptive metadata includes: a maximum content light level parameter; a maximum frame average light level parameter. The maximum content light level parameter and maximum frame average light level parameter are both dependent on a scan type of the frames of the coded video sequence, the scan type being at least one of a progressive frame type, complimentary field pair type, macroblock-adaptive frame-field frame type, and individual field picture type.

  • Patent number: 10969928
Abstract: Users can switch between applications using contextual interface elements. These elements can include icons for applications determined to likely be accessed by the user for a current context. Information is gathered to determine the current context, then information such as patterns of historical usage are utilized to determine and rank the applications by likelihood of use. Different contexts can include different icons, and a given context can include different icons for different points in time or locations. A user can access a contextual interface element by performing a swipe motion, for example. The user can continue the motion to an area associated with an icon of interest, and perform an action such as a tap or release to cause the associated application to be launched. Such an approach enables a user to quickly and easily launch another application independent of the application currently active on the device.

  • Publication number: 20210084307
Abstract: To support lossless mode at the block level when in-loop reshaping (LMCS) is enabled, the following changes are proposed to the existing LMCS pipeline. In intra mode, encode lossless blocks in the original domain, thus bypassing inverse mapping after reconstruction in the decoder. In inter mode, encode lossless blocks in the original domain, thus bypassing both forward mapping after motion compensation and inverse mapping after reconstruction in the decoder. In both modes, disable any LMCS-related color scaling.

  • Patent number: 10936361
Abstract: A set of workloads to be migrated is identified. A constraint on optimization of the set of workloads is determined. A subset of workloads to be migrated is selected from the set of workloads. A model is constructed, using traffic information corresponding to the set of workloads. The model includes a representation of a relationship between a first workload and a second workload in the subset of workloads. The model is solved to cause generation of a set of optimal flow values. A schedule for a migration wave is constructed. The schedule complies with the constraint on optimization of the set of workloads.

  • Publication number: 20200199003
Abstract: A method for reconditioning a glass manufacturing system includes establishing a reducing atmosphere in a glass melting vessel and draining a glass melt composition from the melting vessel while the reducing atmosphere is in the vessel. The pressure of the reducing atmosphere is greater than the pressure of the atmosphere surrounding the melting vessel and the reducing atmosphere is established by operating at least one combustion burner in the melting vessel in a fuel-rich condition.

  • Publication number: 20200159825
Abstract: An approach is provided in which an information handling system analyzes a message tone vector corresponding to a message against a target tone vector corresponding to a recipient of the message. The message tone vector includes a set of message tone attributes and the target tone vector includes a set of target tone thresholds. The information handling system, in response to determining a difference between the message tone vector and the target tone vector, creates a variant message by substituting words in the message with one or more similar words based on the target tone vector. In turn, the information handling system sends the variant message to the recipient.

  • Publication number: 20200140327
Abstract: A method of strengthening glass articles includes introducing potassium ions to a surface region of the glass by an initial ion-exchange process, thermally treating the glass at a thermal treatment temperature and time sufficient to diffuse the potassium ions further into the glass to a depth of layer, and introducing a compressive stress of greater than 400 MPa at the surface through a final ion-exchange process. The final ion-exchange process may be conducted at a final ion-exchange temperature of no more than 450° C. The method of strengthening produces a glass article having a compressive stress of at least 400 MPa at the surface, a depth of compression of at least 30 ?m, and a central tension less than a threshold central tension above which flaws penetrating into the central region of the glass exhibit spontaneous self-propagation of the flaw front through and across the glass.
