Patent number: 7383625Abstract: Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a continuous disk winding. A high-temperature superconducting wire is lapped using Kapton films to insulate the high-temperature superconducting wire. The high-temperature superconducting wire is wound on a bobbin by a predetermined number of turns to form a layer of windings. An annular disk having a slit formed therein is fitted onto the bobbin. The slit is formed along the circumference of the disk and to be inclined from the inner side of the disk towards the outer side thereof. The high-temperature superconducting wire is inserted into the slit of the disk to pass through the annular disk smoothly along the inclined slit and wound again by the predetermined number of turns to form a next layer of windings. The above steps of fitting an annular disk, and inserting and winding the high-temperature superconducting wire are repeated to form multiple layers of windings.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2006Date of Patent: June 10, 2008Assignee: Korea Polytechnic UniversityInventors: Kyeong Dal Choi, Woo Seok Kim, Seung Wook Lee, Young In Hwang

Publication number: 20080075138Abstract: Provided is a method of identifying crystal defect regions of monocrystalline silicon using metal contamination and heat treatment. In the method, a sample in the shape of a silicon wafer or a slice of monocrystalline silicon ingot is prepared. At least one side of the sample is contaminated with metal at a contamination concentration of about 1×1014 to 5×1016 atoms/cm2. The contaminated sample is heat-treated. The contaminated side or the opposite side of the heat-treated sample is observed to identify a crystal defect region. The crystal defect region can be analyzed accurately, easily and quickly without the use of an additional check device, without depending on the concentration of oxygen in the monocrystalline silicon.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2007Publication date: March 27, 2008Inventors: Sang-Wook WEE, Seung-Wook LEE, Ki-Man BAE, Kwang-Salk KIM

Patent number: 7202741Abstract: A variable-gain amplifier circuit uses a pair of single-ended operational amplifiers to amplify complementary portions of a differential input signal. By using two single-ended amplifiers instead of a single differential amplifier, linearity is significantly improved. In addition, common mode feedback circuitry is eliminated along with harmonic distortion and other forms of noise which tend to negative affect the quality of the signal output from the circuit.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2005Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Assignee: GCT Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: Joonbae Park, Seung-Wook Lee, Jeong-Woo Lee, Kyeongho Lee

Patent number: 7129786Abstract: A bias circuit for a smart power amplifier includes a high power mode bias circuit and a low power mode bias circuit, and operates only one of the bias circuits selectively using a switching circuit according to an input signal. Therefore, the bias circuit of high power mode and the bias circuit of the low power mode are divided and can be optimized according to characteristics of the power. Accordingly, a gain difference with respect to each power can be minimized and the low power mode can be controlled with a small amount of current in a state of initial current with a low power and in a middle power, such that an efficiency of the power amplifier can be improved at low power.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2004Date of Patent: October 31, 2006Assignee: FCI Inc.Inventors: Tae-Jin Kim, Seung-Wook Lee, Byoung-Soo Kim, Yong-Woo Kim, Young-Woong Kim, Jin-Ho Shin

Patent number: 7003265Abstract: A system and method for filtering signals in a communications system reduces hardware and chip size requirements by selectively connecting a filter along transmitter and receiver paths of a transceiver. In operation, a controller generated signals for connecting the filter along the transmitter path when the transceiver is in transmitter mode and for connecting the filter along the receiver path when the transmitter is in receiver mode. The controller then generates additional signals for setting one or more parameters of the filter based on the path connected, or put differently based on the operational mode of the transceiver. In a variation, the controller sets the parameters of additional elements coupled to the filter as a way of further controlling processing of the transmitter and receiver signals.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2004Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: GCT Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: Young-Deuk Jeon, Seung-Wook Lee, Jeong-Woo Lee, Joonbae Park, Kyeongho Lee

Patent number: 6983034Abstract: An image of an object is reconstructed in a three-dimensional coordinate system in an x-ray computed tomography system. A partial scan of the object is performed by rotating an x-ray beam having a cone beam geometry around a portion of the object or rotating the object in the cone-beam. The x-ray beam forms on a scanning trajectory through a plurality of projection lines from a plurality of successive focal point locations. The scanning trajectory may be substantially circular, helical, spiral, or spiral-like. The x-ray beam, attenuated by the object during the spiral scan, is detected to produce detector values. The detector values are integrated along straight lines on the detector plane to obtain intermediate data. Three-dimensional Radon values representing approximate plane integrals of the object are calculated from the intermediate data using a Grangeat relationship or a modified or extended version or the Grangeat relationship.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2004Date of Patent: January 3, 2006Assignee: University of Iowa Research FoundationInventors: Ge Wang, Seung Wook Lee

Patent number: 6657498Abstract: A variable gain, low noise amplifier is described, which is suitable as the input amplifier for a wireless terminal, or as the pre-amplifier stage of a wireless terminal transmitter. The amplifier may achieve variable gain by deploying a network of transistors in a parallel array, each independently selectable by a PMOS switch, and providing the variable resistance for the resonant circuit. Power dissipation can also be mitigated by using a network of driving transistors, each independently selectable by a PMOS switch. The resonant frequency of the amplifier may be made tunable by providing a selection of optional pull-up capacitors.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2002Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: GCT Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: Joonbae Park, Hoe-Sam Jeong, Seung-Wook Lee, Won-Seok Lee, Kyeongho Lee
