  • Patent number: 8072953
Abstract: A method and a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), including a universal subscriber identity module (USIM), for identifying a closed subscriber group (CSG) cell are disclosed. The WTRU receives a broadcast from a cell including a cell identifier (ID). If the cell ID is associated with a CSG cell, the WTRU determines whether the CSG ID is programmed in the USIM. The cell broadcast may include a single bit information element (IE) indicating that the cell is a CSG cell. If the cell ID is a CSG ID, the cell ID may further include a plurality of fields which indicate at least one of a country, a region, an operator, and a home evolved Node-B (HeNB) number. The cell broadcast may further include a bit indicating whether the CSG cell is public or private. The cell broadcast may further include a bit indicating that emergency calls are allowed from all users.

  • Publication number: 20100303039
Abstract: Techniques for component carrier-specific reconfiguration are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is capable of transmitting or receiving via multiple component carriers. The WTRU may perform component carrier reconfiguration on a component carrier basis to add, remove or replace a component carrier. Discontinuous reception (DRX) and/or discontinuous transmission (DTX) may be performed on at least one component carrier, wherein DRX and/or DTX patterns on the component carriers may not overlap each other. A random access procedure may be performed at the target cell on one component carrier while other component carriers are inactive. The component carrier-specific reconfiguration or handover of a component carrier or a channel may be implemented in coordinated multiple point transmission (CoMP), wherein a handover of a control channel, not a traffic channel, may be performed. Alternatively, a handover of a traffic channel may be performed.

  • Publication number: 20100297979
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for processing emergency calls by simplifying call setup procedures and minimizing call setup delay. In one scenario, a system information (SI) broadcast may include emergency services support information that conveys various emergency call network support levels and setup procedures. The SI broadcast is decoded to retrieve system parameters used to process an emergency call. The SI broadcast may include a bitmap or at least one information element (IE), that indicates the various emergency call network support levels. In another scenario, an extended service request message indicating circuit switched fallback (CSFB) for an emergency call is transmitted to a packet switched (PS) radio access technology (RAT) network during a PS session. An inter-system change is performed from the PS RAT network to a circuit switched (CS) RAT without a PS handover, and a CS emergency call is initiated via the CS RAT network.

  • Publication number: 20100297955
Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing inbound mobility to closed subscriber group (CSG) and hybrid cells are described. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) reads the cell global identity (CGI) of a neighbor cell and reports it to a network of CSG cells. The network maps the CSG cell's physical cell identity (PCI) to the CSG CGI and, if required, requests the WTRU to read the CGI at handover.

  • Publication number: 20100296421
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for providing non-packet switched service to a target radio access technology (RAT) network. A circuit switched (CS) service notification message is received by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). If the WTRU has been allocated a valid temporary mobile subscriber identity (TMSI), a paging response message including the valid TMSI is transmitted after an inter-system change is performed from a source RAT network to a target RAT network. The CS service notification message is for terminating a CS call request. The source RAT network may be a long term evolution (LTE) network, and the target RAT network may be a third generation partnership project (3GPP) network. Alternatively, if the WTRU has not been allocated a valid TMSI, a paging response message including an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) that identifies the WTRU is transmitted after the inter-system change.

  • Publication number: 20100254351
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for performing a handover in an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) sends a measurement report to a source evolved Node B (eNB), and receives a handover command from the source eNB. The WTRU initiates reception and processing of a primary broadcast channel (P-BCH) at the target cell after receiving the handover command. The WTRU then sends a random access preamble to the target eNB, receives a random access response from the target eNB, and sends a handover complete message to the target eNB. The reception and processing of the P-BCH may be initiated immediately after receiving the handover command or after sending the handover complete message. The WTRU may apply default configuration or source cell configuration in the target cell until a target cell SFN and/or P-BCH information are acquired.

  • Publication number: 20100172301
Abstract: A method and apparatus may be used to cancel a communication session. The apparatus may transmit a first message to initiate a communication session and then transmit a second message that indicates a request to cancel the communication session. If the apparatus determines that there is an ongoing Packet Switched (PS) session, the apparatus may continue the ongoing PS session on a current Radio Access Technology (RAT) without performing an intersystem change. If the apparatus receives a handover (HO) command, the apparatus may transmit a message to reject the HO command, or it may ignore the HO command.
