Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system and method for configuring a communication device. In one embodiment, a method is presented that includes monitoring for a presence of at least one mobile device that stores a user profile. In response to the communication device detecting the presence of at least one mobile device that stores a user profile, the method retrieves the user profile from the mobile device. The method configures the communication device in accordance with the user profile.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a method for making a reservation associated with a calendar appointment is presented. The method includes monitoring a calendar application for reservation type appointments. In response to identifying a reservation type appointment, the method determines whether a network reservation may be made with a service provider associated with the reservation type appointment. If a network reservation may be made with the service provider, the method automatically enters in information for making the network reservation with data retrieved from the reservation type appointment and submitting the network reservation to the service provider.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for providing travel-related information associated with a calendar appointment is presented. The method comprises monitoring a calendar application for travel-related appointments. In response to identifying a travel-related appointment, the method retrieves travel-related information associated with a location of the travel-related appointment and provides the travel-related information to a user.

Abstract: An embodiment of a method and apparatus for provisioning of a communication device includes receiving a registration request from a first communication device. The registration request includes an address associated with the first communication device. The method further includes registering the first communication device in response to receiving the registration request, placing a call request to the first communication device, and establishing a call session with the first communication device. The method further includes prompting a user of the first communication device for a user identifier, and receiving a user identifier from the user of the first communication device. The method still further includes sending one or more configuration parameters associated with the user identifier to the first communication device. The one or more configuration parameters are operable to configure the first communication device.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments present a system and method for providing delay notifications to attendees/virtual receptionists associated with an identified delayed calendar appointment. In addition, the disclosed embodiments provide automatic rescheduling of a delayed calendar appointment. Further, the disclosed embodiments provide advance tracking delay notifications by monitoring a user's current location in relation to a location of a scheduled calendar appointment.

Abstract: A system and method for implementing a video conference through a television forwarding device. A remote user is authenticated through a website. A selection of a user is received for the remote user to communicate with through the video conference. An invitation is sent to the television forwarding device. The invitation being configured to prompt the user to accept implementation of the video conference. The video conference is implemented between the remote user and the user in response to the user accepting the invitation.

Abstract: A system and method for adjusting resolution for a video conference through a set-top box. An invitation to accept a video conference is accepted through a set-top box. A line resolution for the video conference is set based on user input. A determination is made whether available bandwidth is at a threshold to support the line resolution. The line resolution is adjusted based on the determination. The video conference is implemented utilizing the adjusted line resolution.

Abstract: A GPS device and method for communicating navigation data from a Global Positioning System (GPS) device to a telecommunications device includes establishing a communications link between a GPS device and a telecommunications device via a telecommunications system. The GPS device may receive GPS coordinates from the telecommunications device. The GPS device may receive a destination location selection. Directions may be calculated based on the received GPS coordinates of the telecommunications device and the selected destination location. Directions may be communicated to the telecommunications device.

Abstract: An embodiment of a method for routing an incoming call includes receiving an incoming call addressed to a single phone number associated with a plurality of users at a network routing device. The method further includes determining, by the network routing device, an incoming caller identifier associated with the incoming call and determining, by the network routing device whether the incoming caller identifier matches at least one caller identifier in a caller list associated with at least one particular user of the plurality of users. If the caller identifier matches a caller identifier in a caller list associated with the particular user, the incoming call is routed, by the network routing device, to at least one telephone associated with the particular user.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, a system and method of filtering messages may be provided that includes receiving an SMS message intended for a recipient and receiving a user-restriction profile. The system and method includes determining whether the SMS message contains content that is indicated to be restricted by the user-restriction profile and, in response to the determination that the SMS message contains restricted content, delivering the SMS message to an authorized secondary receiver. Alternatively, in response to the determination that the SMS message does not contain restricted content, the SMS message may be delivered to the recipient.

Abstract: A message filtering system is provided including a message management unit and a message monitoring unit in communication with the message management unit. The message management unit is configured to send and receive message over a network and to route messages to the message monitoring unit based on a message source, and the message monitoring unit is configured to parse the message and locate identifiers in the message and to re-route the message based on the identifier located in the message.

Abstract: A Global Positioning System (GPS) device and method for communicating data from a telecommunications device to a GPS device includes establishing a communications link between a telecommunications device and a GPS device. Message data may be received from the telecommunications device by the GPS device via the communications link. Message data may be displayed by the GPS device. GPS input data may be selected from the displayed message data. Directions may be calculated based on the selected GPS input data.

Abstract: A system and method for coordinating communications. User selection of multiple contacts from an address book are received. The user selection of multiple contacts are added to a contact schedule. The multiple contacts listed in the contact schedule are automatically called. A voice communication is initiated in response to a receiving party answering a call. A message specified by a user is sent to the receiving party in response to the receiving party not answering the call.

Abstract: An embodiment of a method for message routing includes receiving a message addressed to a user of a first user communication device, and determining whether the user has accessed the message within a predetermined time period. The method further includes routing the message to a second user communication device associated with the user if the user has not accessed the message within the predetermined time period. Some embodiments further include converting the message from a first format into a second format before routing the message to the second user communication device. Some embodiments further include determining a caller identity associated with the calling device, determining a routing policy associated with the caller identity, and determining the second user communication device from among a plurality of user communication devices based upon the routing policy.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically changing channels. A user selection of a channel and a time associated with media content is received. The current time is determined. A display is powered on in response to determining the display is off. A display is automatically changed to the channel in response to the current time matching the selected time. The media content received through the channel is displayed.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing digital video recorder services with a portable wireless device (PWD). The PWD includes at least a transceiver, a processing unit and a memory unit. The transceiver receives a video content signal transmitted from a broadcaster of mobile broadcast digital TV, and an electronic program guide (EPG). The processing unit is in communication with the transceiver and the memory unit and the processing unit: stores the TV programming information on the memory unit; displays, responsive to a first user input, the TV programming information; records on the memory unit, responsive to a second user input, a selected video content signal received by the transceiver; and plays back the selected video content signal, responsive to a third user input, from the memory unit.

Abstract: A system and method for forwarding a telephone call includes routing a telephone call from a calling party to a first telephone of a called party. A determination may be made that the telephone call was not answered by the called party. A determination may be made as to whether the telephone call is to be forwarded to an unrelated second telephone within a predetermined distance of the first telephone. Geographic coordinates of the first telephone may be determined. A determination of geographic coordinates of at least one second telephone may be made. A determination as to whether the at least one unrelated second telephone is within the predetermined distance of the first telephone. An unrelated second telephone determined to be within the predetermined distance of the first telephone may be selected. The telephone call may be forwarded to the selected unrelated second telephone.

Abstract: A do-not-disturb mode is entered in response to an identifier and a first authorization code is received. A call is received from a caller whereafter the caller is prompted to input a second authorization code. If the first and second authorization codes are the same, a notification is generated to notify a called party that a telephone call is being received.
