  • Patent number: 8593096
Abstract: Analog control of the pulse width used to control the speed of a voice coil motor may be implemented using a “constant-current-charging-capacitor” configuration where the time needed to charge the capacitor is directly related to how far the actual motor speed is from the target speed. The BEMF voltage, indicative of motor speed, is sampled, and then stored in a storage capacitor, which is allowed to charge/discharge to a target voltage level. The time required to charge/discharge the capacitor to the target voltage is directly proportional to the difference between the BEMF voltage and the target voltage, and may be used directly as the pulse width (i.e., the charging time) in the PWM velocity control system. To avoid larger capacitors, a pulse multiplier circuit can be added, allowing charging/discharging the sampled voltage to the target voltage to be repeated by a number, N, of times.

  • Patent number: 8454817
Abstract: A mechanism of initiating a redox reaction, such as hydrogen gas production by direct-water-splitting, is provided in which a piezoelectric material is mechanically stressed by actively applying a mechanical stress to the material. The mechanical stress applied to the piezoelectric material causes an electrical potential build up on the surface of the material due to the piezoelectric properties of the material. When the piezoelectric material stressed in this manner is placed in direct contact with the redox reaction reactant(s), the potential on the polarized surface can be used as chemical driving energy to initiate the reaction, such as to split water and generate hydrogen gas. In this manner the mechanical energy applied to the piezoelectric material, such as vibration energy from natural or man-made sources, can be converted directly into chemical energy to initiate the reaction.

  • Publication number: 20130084405
Abstract: A method for plating circuits on a housing by spraying and laser engraving is provided. Before manufacturing the circuit, a first spraying layer is formed. The thickness of the first spraying layer is approximately equal to that of the circuit to be formed thereon. Laser engraving is used to form laser engraving areas for forming the circuit metal layer. Then the circuit metal layer is formed by chemical plating, and the thickness of the metal layer is approximately equal to that of the first spraying layer. Then a second spraying layer is applied on both of the metal layer and the first spraying layer so as to present a flat and aesthetic appearance. As the present invention is applied in 2-shot molding, each time the pattern of the circuit is changed, it is only necessary to change the paths in the laser engraving. No more molds modification is needed for changing the pattern of the circuit.
