  • Publication number: 20060220522
Abstract: By forming chamfered portions on corner portions of a spacer, a contact area between the spacer and a fixing material is enlarged. Side surfaces of the spacer including the chamfered portions are embedded into the inside of the fixing material and hence, an adhesion area of the spacer with the fixing material is enlarged thus enhancing an adhesion strength. As a result, a fixing strength of the spacers which hold a space between a back panel and a face panel in vacuum is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 7053544
Abstract: In a display device, to ensure sufficient electron source regions on cathode lines formed on a back substrate, cathode lines are divided into line portions and cathode portions, wherein the line portions are made narrow to a width which is a required minimum for transmitting signals, and the area of the cathode portions which form an electron source has a wide island shape. Further, a plurality of cathode lines are formed into groups, and respective cathode portions are formed at positions corresponding to electron passing apertures formed in the control electrodes. Also, the gap between the wiring portions is made small, so that a relatively large space is ensured between neighboring groups of the cathode lines. Thus, the tolerance in mounting the control electrodes and the tolerance in mounting the distance holding members can be increased, whereby the alignment between electron passing apertures and cathode lines is facilitated.

  • Patent number: 6958570
Abstract: Inside an outer frame, which is interposed at between opposedly facing peripheries between a back substrate and a front substrate, there is an inner frame which fixes both end portions of plate member control electrodes, which are constituted of a large number of parallel strip-like electrode elements. By integrally forming the plate member control electrodes such that the plate member control electrodes are fixed to both end portions of a display region, a single part is formed. Further, a getter chamber is formed between the outer frame and the inner frame and getters are accommodated in the getter chamber. Due to such a constitution, the operability and yield rate of products at the time of assembling can be enhanced. Further, it is possible to hold a desired degree of vacuum in the space between the substrates for a long time.

  • Publication number: 20050212401
Abstract: The present invention provides an image display device in which it is possible to obtain an image display of high brightness and high contrast by preventing the halation which may be generated in a peripheral portion of a display image. By providing a carbon film which attenuates the reentry of secondary electrons, which are generated when electron beams impinge on an anode, to a back surface of the anode, even when primary electrons impinge on the anode, the secondary electrons are hardly emitted from the anode. At the same time, a trace amount of emitted secondary electrons are mainly formed of electrons having a small energy. Hence, these emitted secondary electrons are scattered and hardly reenter the anode.
