  • Publication number: 20020171347
Abstract: A display device can realize the highly efficient electron emission characteristics by ensuring the exposure of carbon nanotubes 13 in the inside of a vacuum by fixing the carbon nanotubes 13 to cathode wires 12 such that the carbon nanotubes 13 are not easily removed from the cathode wires 12 with the small resistance which enables the carbon nanotubes 13 to have the enough electron emission ability. Some end portions or some intermediate portions of the carbon nanotubes 13 are embedded into the cathode wires 12 formed on a rear substrate 11 and, at the same time, contact points where the carbon nanotubes 13 cross each other or portions in the vicinity of the crossing portions are bonded to each other by bonding films 14.

  • Publication number: 20020167265
Abstract: A gap formed between cathode wires 2 (electron emitting sources 2a) and control electrodes 4 is made uniform and a gap formed between a rear panel 100 and a face panel 200 is held at a predetermined value with high accuracy. Plate-like members are used as the control electrodes 4. Holes 4a which allow electrons emitted from the electron emitting sources 2a provided to the cathode wires 2 to pass through the control electrodes 4 toward the face panel 200 side are formed in pixel regions which are defined by the cathode wires 2 and the control electrodes 4 crossing the cathode wires 2 both of which are formed on the rear panel 100. Contact portions 10 which are projected toward the rear panel 100 side and support the control electrodes 4 are provided between the neighboring cathode wires 2. Further, gap holding members 9 which hold the gap between the face panel 200 and the rear panel 100 at the predetermined value are provided right above the contact portions 10 and at the face panel 200 side.

  • Publication number: 20020167266
Abstract: A gap defined between cathode wires 2 having electron emitting sources 2a and control electrodes 4 is made uniform and a thickness of an insulation layer 3 interposed between both of them is made thin or the insulation layer 3 is eliminated whereby the electron emission characteristics and the high-frequency driving of high performance can be realized. The control electrodes 4 which have recessed portions 4c in plate-like members and have holes 4a for allowing electrons to pass therethrough in bottom portions thereof restrict the gap defined between the cathode wires 2 and the control electrodes 4 by adjusting a plate-thickness direction size of the holes 4a formed in the control electrodes 4.

  • Publication number: 20020097368
Abstract: The present invention provides a display device which can maintain a gap between a front surface panel 1 and a back surface panel 2 at a given value and maintain the air-tightness of a sealed space defined between the front surface panel 1 and the back surface panel 2 even when the gap is relatively large. To achieve such an object, the display device includes the back surface panel 1, the front surface panel 2 and the outer frame 3, the outer frame 3 is constituted of a plurality of divided wall members 3X1, 3X2, 3Y1, 3Y2 and 3C1 to 3C4. Further, at least at some portions where neighboring wall members are engaged with each other, oblique surfaces 3P are formed and a crossing angle which is made by a normal line of the oblique surfaces 3P and a normal line of the back surface panel 1 or the front surface panel 2 is set to an acute angle.

  • Patent number: 5757117
Abstract: In a cathode ray tube having an antistatic film 6 stuck to the front surface of a panel section 1 and a conductive tape 7 for grounding the end portion of the antistatic film 6 to the earth, a silicone adhesive 8 containing a conductive filler having an excellent close contact adhesion to silicon dioxide (SiO.sub.2) is interposed in at least a part of an close contact adhesion portion where the conductive tape 7 is stuck to the antistatic film 6. Thanks to the interposition of the conductive filler containing silicone adhesive 8, the resistances between the antistatic film 6 and the conductive tape 7 and between the silicone adhesive 8 and the conductive tape 7 can be lowered and sputtering which may be caused by the high voltage induced in the antistatic film 6 is prevented, so that the breakage of the antistatic film 6 can be prevented at the close contact adhesion portion.

  • Patent number: 5160287
Abstract: To improve the conventional manufacturing method for a color picture tube in which (1) the panel with a phosphor screen is provided with a shadow mask and baked, (2) the panel and funnel having the necessary parts mounted in the tube, are sealed with frit glass (3) an electron gun is mounted at the main sealing step, and (4) gases are exhausted from the tube, the invention includes a vacuum treatment step which is further provided to exhaust gases from the tube before the temperature in the tube is reduced to the room temperature after the panel and funnel are sealed with frit glass. The vacuum treatment step after the frit sealing step provides a color picture tube with a long life, in which the amount of remaining moisture in the tube is reduced to less than 1/2 of the conventional one and the gas evolution amount during operation is extremely reduced.

  • Patent number: 5028836
Abstract: A color cathode ray tube of the shadow mask type capable of reducing the color unbalance due to the doming phenomenon of shadow mask is disclosed, in which a material having a low thermal conductivity is vacuum-deposited on that main surface of a shadow mask which exists on the electron gun side, to prevent heat due to electron bombardment from being transmitted to the shadow mask in a short time, and the material is prevented from being deposited on that side wall of each of electron-beam transmitting holes of the shadow mask which confronts an electron gun, to suppress the generation of scattered electrons at the side wall. Thus, in the above color cathode ray tube, the color unbalance due to the thermal expansion of the shadow mask is prevented, and moreover there is not any fear of degrading the picture quality of a displayed image by halation.

  • Patent number: 4403170
Abstract: There is disclosed a color picture tube of the type having inner and outer conductive films respectively formed on inner and outer surfaces of a glass bulb of the color picture tube and a conduction path formed in the inner conductive film which extends from an anode terminal provided for the outer surface of the glass bulb to an electron gun for applying thereto anode high voltage. In this type of color picture tube, the resistance of the conduction path extending from the anode terminal to the electron gun is made smaller than an average resistance of a portion of the inner conductive film excepting the conduction path. With this arrangement, sufficient arcing energy can be obtained for removing causes for arcing when spot knocking involved in the manufacture process for the color picture tube is carried out and in addition, flash-over current accruing from arcing taking place during actual operation of a color television receiver set incorporating the color picture tube can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 3967985
Abstract: Surfaces of a perforated mask made of iron are allowed to contact with an acidic aqueous solution of antimony trichloride, e.g., a hydrochloric acid solution to form a thin film of metallic antimony on said surfaces. A protective coating of a phosphate is allowed to be deposited onto said thin film. Thereafter, said surfaces is heated in an oxygen atmosphere to produce a grayish black coating having an excellent thermal emission power. The perforated mask thus treated has no permanent deformation like wrinkles produced at a perforated sheet member and is uniform in color.
