  • Patent number: 4414379
Abstract: A granular or powdery nitrogen-containing phenol-aldehyde copolymer resin which is a condensation product of a phenol, a nitrogen-containing compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms and an aldehyde, said granular or powdery resin being characterized by(A) containing spherical primary particles and secondary particles resulting from the agglomeration of the primary particles, each of said particles having a particle diameter of 0.1 to 100 microns,(B) having such a size that at least 50% by weight thereof can pass through a 150 Tyler mesh sieve,(C) having a free phenol content, determined by liquid chromatography, of not more than 50 ppm, and(D) having a D.sub.960-1020 /D.sub.1450-1500 ratio of from 0.1 to 2.0 in its infrared absorption spectrum.

  • Patent number: 4316969
Abstract: This invention relates to a cured novolak fiber-reinforced, chlorinated rubber molded article having excellent flameproofness, the main components of which are(A) fibers or a fibrous structure containing at least 50 weight % of cured novolak fibers and(B) a rubber composition consisting mainly of chlorinated rubber as a rubber component, the content of said fibers or fibrous structure being 2-80% by weight; and a process for the preparation of said article comprising adhering an organic solvent solution or dispersion of the rubber composition (B) to the fibers or the fibrous structure (A) or impregnating the fibers or fibrous structure with said solution or dispersion, or mixing the fibers with the rubber composition (B), and without any further processing, or during or after the pressing or molding, vulcanizing said chlorinated rubber composition at a temperature of 100.degree.-200.degree. • Patent number: 4127698
Abstract: A composite fiber comprising:(A) 90 to 25 parts by weight of a matrix fiber which comprises as main ingredients a chlorine-containing polymer and a partially acetalized polyvinyl alcohol in a ratio of 40 : 60 to 60 : 40 by weight, and contains a flame-retarding agent in an amount of 1 to 7% by weight based on the total amounts of the main ingredients, said flame-retarding agent comprising (a) stannic acid and/or stannic oxide and (b) antimonic acid and/or antimony oxide and the ratio of the ingredient (a) and the ingredient (b) being 15 : 85 to 50 : 50 by weight, and(B) 10 to 75 parts by weight of at least one fiber selected from the group consisting of polyester fiber, acrylic fiber and cotton fiber. The composite fiber has an excellent flame-retardant property as well as other properties required for common fibers such as good hand touchness and hygroscopicity.
