  • Patent number: 4625117
Abstract: A multi-cell radiation detector constructed such that a first group of electrodes to which is applied high voltage and a second group of electrodes to which are connected signal leads are alternately arranged inside a vessel containing ionizable gas enclosed therein. The first group electrodes are provided with terminals to which are connected leads for introducing high voltage from the exterior, while the second group electrodes are provided with terminals to which are connected leads for leading out signal outputs to the exterior. These leads and terminals are all disposed at positions offset from traveling path of the radiation so as to reduce the volume of the space under the weak electric field behind the electrode section.

  • Patent number: 4559540
Abstract: An antenna system having a main reflector, a sub-reflector, and a plurality of horns for radiating different frequencies includes a beam waveguide system which cancels cross polarization otherwise inherent in the system. If the antenna system uses a non-rotationally-symmetric sub-reflector the cross polarization caused thereby is cancelled by the beam waveguide system having at least two focusing reflectors and selected parameters. Alternatively the beam waveguide system can be used with a rotationally symmetric and stationary sub-reflector by being positioned to reflect said beam on the axis of the main reflector. Either the horns or the focusing reflectors may be rotatably switched, the other group being stationary.

  • Patent number: 4187857
Abstract: A signal, which is the sum of an ultrasonic wave echo signal and a group of PPM (pulse-position-modulated) pulses representative of a reference signal, is applied to a cathode ray tube (CRT) and is swept along one axis by a first sweeping signal with a first frequency and along a second axis by a second sweeping signal of lower frequency. The ultrasonic echo signal and the group of PPM pulses are concurrently displayed on the CRT. Ultrasonic wave rate pulses synchronous with the first sweeping signal are applied at the first frequency to an ultrasonic transducer to emit ultrasonic waves which upon receipt are converted to an ultrasonic wave echo signal. A sawtooth wave generator circuit is provided for generating a sawtooth wave with a second frequency n times the first frequency. Here, n is an integer and equal to or larger than 2. The reference signal, such as an electrocardiographic signal, is modulated by the sawtooth wave to produce a train of pulse-position-modulated (PPM) pulses.
