  • Publication number: 20040219412
Abstract: A plurality of fuel electrodes are disposed on one surface of a solid polyelectrolyte membrane, while a plurality of oxidizer electrodes are disposed on the other surface of the same to create a plurality of unit cells which share the solid polyelectrolyte membrane. These unit cells are electrically connected through connection electrode extending through the solid polyelectrolyte membrane. A groove is formed in a region of the solid polyelectrolyte membrane between adjacent unit cells. This groove limits the migration of hydrogen ions to adjacent unit cells to prevent a reduction in voltage. The resulting solid polymer fuel cell, which is in a simple structure and reduced in size, can provide high power.

  • Publication number: 20040217004
Abstract: An electrode plate of a sample plate is set on the body of an electrophoretic apparatus, while a plug is inserted into a migration high voltage line connection hole and connected to a high-tension distribution cable. Each well of a base plate is inserted into a through hole of a well guide and further press-fit and engaged into a cavity of an electrode plate, for fixing the base plate to the electrode plate. Thereafter a sample is introduced into each well of the base plate and an end of a capillary column is dipped into each well for applying a migration voltage and electrophoretically injecting the sample into the capillary column.

  • Publication number: 20040141300
Abstract: A silver thin film (with a thickness of 50 nm) and an SiO2 film (with a thickness of 10 nm) are deposited in this order on one side surface of a slide glass by ion beam sputtering deposition, so that a supporting substrate for sample solution is formed. A sample solution containing fluorescence molecules is placed on the SiO2 film of the supporting substrate and a cover glass is placed on the sample solution. When light is entered upon the interface between the slide glass and the SiO2 film at an incident angle of 59 to 60°, surface plasmon resonance is excited at the interface and thus an evanescent field is reinforced, so that fluorescence is generated efficiently from the fluorescence molecules contained in the sample solution.

  • Publication number: 20040089547
Abstract: A microfluidic device includes a base member, a separating channel, and a sample quantity control channel branching from the separating channel. The separating channel has one end projecting from the base member, and the one end forms a sample introduction portion. The other end of the separating channel and a forward end of the sample quantity control channel have opening and closing mechanisms, respectively. A capacity of the sample quantity control channel corresponds to a sample quantity to be injected.

  • Patent number: 6611505
Abstract: The invention reduces an overhead operation required for re-establishment of a physical signal link. A physical signal link (layer 1 link) is switched over keeping a layer 2 link in the OSI reference model. A database 11 stores information indicating physical signal links and information indicating the maximum length of a layer 2 frame determined according to the ability of physical signal links. When a physical signal link is to be switched over, a target physical signal link is selected and a physical signal link used by the link is switched to the target physical link without releasing the single layer 2 link. The maximum length corresponding to the target physical signal link is obtained from the database 11, and layer 2 frames having the maximum length are transmitted. Switching over a physical signal link is performed in the following manner.

  • Patent number: 6605737
Abstract: An objective of the present invention is to provide a method for preparing a high-purity, condensed phosphoric ester made of a bisphenol A derivative and having a very low content of monomer-type phosphoric ester that causes reduction in the heat resistance and the contamination of the molds during the molding when the condensed phosphoric ester is used as an additive for a resin. According to the present invention, a bisphenol A derivative, a phosphorus oxytrihalide and a hydroxy compound are reacted in the presence of a decomposition retardant, whereby the above problems can be solved.

  • Publication number: 20030102219
Abstract: A reservoir member is made of an elastic resin material. Additional reservoirs formed of through-holes are provided to the reservoir member at positions corresponding to reservoirs of an electrophoretic member. The surface of the reservoir member to be tightly attached to the electrophoretic member is formed flat. The reservoir member is tightly attached to the electrophoretic member without using any adhesive in such a way that the reservoirs align with the additional reservoirs. Thus, the capacities of the respective reservoirs can be increased. Since the electrophoretic member can be easily separated from the reservoir member, the reservoirs and additional reservoirs can be cleaned easily after the analysis, thereby reducing cross-contamination in samples.

  • Publication number: 20030047761
Abstract: A micro array chip is formed by high-speed injection molding. A chip body has a thickness of 1 mm and each well has a capacity of 1.2 &mgr;L with the bottom having a wall thickness of 250 &mgr;m. An opening of each well is surrounded by an annular protrusion part, which is raised from a surface of the chip body by a height of 200 &mgr;m. The openings of wells may be closed with a sheet of sealant made of aluminum or a resin. An overall shape of the micro array chip is rectangular and is a flat plate with a level bottom surface. Therefore, the micro array chip can be used with a heat block in flat plate form, which is independent of chip specifications such as a number of wells and their shape.

  • Patent number: 6461492
Abstract: A multi-capillary electrophoresis apparatus arranged with a fixed sample injection holder opposite a detection side holder within the same plane and an epi-optical detection system. A sample is injected sequentially and separated components are successively fed to the detection part for analysis by fluorescence. The epi-optical system adjusts the parallelism between the detection side holder and scanning axis of the detector. Thus, a capillary electrophoretic apparatus can detect fluorescence from a fluorochrome bonded to samples as a label without influence by Raman scattering or Rayleigh scattering.

  • Publication number: 20020117398
Abstract: A sample is separated and separated components thereof are successively fed to a part to be detected. A laser beam of at least 600 nm from a laser beam source of an optical measuring part is applied to the part to be detected through a dichroic mirror and a lens, for making a fluorochrome bonded to the separated components absorb multiphotons, exciting the fluorochrome and making the same fluoresce. The optical measuring part captures the fluorescence so that photomultipliers detect fluorescence of not more than 510 nm in wavelength, fluorescence longer than 510 nm and not more than 560 nm in wavelength, fluorescence longer than 560 nm and not more than 580 nm in wavelength and fluorescence longer than 580 in wavelength respectively. Thus, a capillary electrophoretic apparatus can detect fluorescence from a fluorochrome bonded to samples as a label without influence by Raman scattering or Rayleigh scattering.

  • Patent number: 6383356
Abstract: A drain joint of a pump block is opened, a piston (19a) is pushed while a piston (13a) is fixed, for charging a passage between a Luer-Lok joint (17) and an intersection part as well as a passage between the intersection part and the drain joint with a buffer. Thereafter the piston (13a) is pushed while the piston (19a) is fixed, to charge a passage (7a) with a polymer. Then, the drain joint is closed, the piston (13a) is pushed and the piston (19a) is pulled in response to the amount of pushing, for charging the passage between the intersection point and the Luer-Lok joint (17) with the polymer. Thereafter, the piston (13a) is pushed while the piston (19a) is fixed, to charge a capillary column with the polymer.

  • Publication number: 20020046949
Abstract: A table is used to position eight specimen reservoirs of an electrophoretic chip into which a specimen is firstly dispensed to a specimen dispensing position. A specimen dispensing mechanism is used to move a head to thereby suck a test-specimen contained in eight different wells of specimen plates into eight nozzles respectively and then move the head to the specimen dispensing position, thus dispensing the test-specimen sucked into the nozzles into the specimen reservoirs simultaneously. The table is used to sequentially position the specimen reservoirs to the specimen dispensing position and then the specimen dispensing mechanism is used to sequentially dispensing the specimen into the specimen reservoirs.
