  • Patent number: 6120667
Abstract: After a sample stage moves and brings a sample titer plate toward and into contact with a capillary array end, a high voltage is applied across electrodes for a prescribed time for injecting samples. Thereafter an electrophoresis reservoir comes into contact with the capillary array end, for starting electrophoresis. When electrophoresed/separated DNA fragments pass through a detection part, an excitation/photoreceiving optical system is scanned so that photomultipliers detect fluorescence from four types of fluorescent materials labeling the samples. The excitation/photoreceiving optical system comprises an epi-optical system and a confocal optical system, and is scanned at a high speed.

  • Patent number: 5356596
Abstract: In connection with an automated peptide synthesizer, an apparatus and associated method through which peptides produced in simultaneous multiple synthesis are together isolable. Cleavage to liberate the peptides from linkage to the support matrix of the solid phase is carried out in the same vessels in which the synthesizing reactions took place. Prior to cleavage, a drainage port of each reaction vessel is closed off by a cap. The reaction vessel is inserted into a centrifuge tube, which in turn is put into a rack supporting a number of tubes equal to the number of channels of the peptide synthesizing apparatus. After the peptides are cleaved and dissolved into cleaving solution added into each of the reaction vessels, the caps are removed from the drainage ports of each reaction vessel, and the vessel is returned into the centrifuge tube. A plastic jet-fitting attached to the nozzle tip of a blow unit pressure gun is inserted into and pressed into contact against the supply opening of the reaction vessel.

  • Patent number: 5344613
Abstract: In an automated solid-phase peptide synthesizing apparatus comprising at least one reaction vessel containing particulate resin as an insoluble support matrix which anchors elongating peptide chains yielded through coupling-assembly formation of peptide bonds, mixing agitation of reagents, as well as circulation agitation of washing solvents flushing the coupling-associated reaction solutions, introduced in peptide chain-assembly process steps into the reaction vessel, is effected by the bubbling of an inert gas forcibly passed through the reagents or washing solvent via a drainage port of the reaction vessel, in order to promote peptide synthesis. A removable agitation stabilizer is inserted into the reaction vessel as a barrier for inhibiting extra-vessel escape, due to action of the bubbling inert gas, of the reagents as well as the washing solvents, and of the support matrix anchoring the elongating peptide chains.

  • Patent number: 5103415
Abstract: A method of computing an internal potential distribution of a semiconductor device is disclosed which includes an electrically floating semiconductor layer as a floating potential region, thereby evaluating the breakdown voltage characteristic of the device by means of simulation. According to this method, when a trial value of a quasi-Fermi potential of the semiconductor layer is given, a Poisson equation is solved with use of the trial value, thus finding the potential distribution of the device. A characteristic point is obtained from the potential distribution. It is determined whether or not the relationship between the characteristic point and the trial value satisfies a specific relational expression. If the specific relational expression is satisfied, the trial value is determined to be the quasi-Fermi potential of the semiconductor layer, and the solution of the Poisson equation is output as a simulation calculation result.

  • Patent number: 4733479
Abstract: Under the rated load amount of "Normal" and "Extra" drying degrees, a drying process carried out after the detections of the plurality of resistance values a passing time of at least one resistance value selected from among of the plurality of resistance values is predicted is carried out. The hot air operation time in accordance with the measured time is calculated, and the hot air operation during the calculated hot air operation time is carried out. When under the small load amount, a drying process is carried out in the form of a hot air operation by calculating a necessary time for "Damp" drying degree under a small load amount in accordance with a time for passing a predetermined resistance value after a lapse of a constant time from the start of drying operation. When one of "Semi", "Normal" and "Extra" drying degrees under the small load amount is selected, a hot air operation is carried out at a constant time according to the calculated time for "Damp" drying degree.

  • Patent number: 4638573
Abstract: A lint and raveling collector for a clothes dryer is installed on the side of the rotating drum. The lint and raveling collector has a lint and raveling filter and a lint and raveling collecting box. The lint and raveling filter has a net-like filter member, and ribs provided on the surface of the net-like filter member to prevent friction between the filter member and the clothing. The collecting box has an opening formed at its portion facing the ribs. The collecting box covers the lint and raveling filter in such a manner that a space for accumulating the lint and raveling is defined between the lint and raveling filter and the inner wall of the whole portion of the collecting box except for the opening portion. By provision of the ribs, the lint and raveling can not pass through the interstices of the filter member, and clothing is prevented from directly rubbing against the surface of the filter member.
