  • Patent number: 5244552
Abstract: A process for desulfurization and denitration of waste gas by multi-stage electron beam irradiation and an apparatus used for the process are constituted so that the waste gas is passed through the electron beam irradiation zones in multiple irradiation chambers that are arranged in such a way that the center-to-center distance (m) between two neighboring electron beam generators is not shorter than distance X calculated by the formula, X=2.alpha.+tV wherein 2.alpha. means distance over which an absorbed dose extends into a waster gas, t means a residence time (sec.) of waste gas in a non-irradiation zone, and V stands for the flow velocity of waste gas, whereby t can be reduced to 0.01-0.5 seconds, so that irradiated energy can be utilized efficiently and a maximum effect can be obtained with a minimum expenditure of irradiation energy. Therefore, the waste gas can be treated rapidly and economically.

  • Patent number: 5192949
Abstract: In an information data recording and reproducing device which can record and reproduce input information data accurately, an error correction code of the product sign format is added to the input information data to form coded data. The coded data are then NRZI converted and recorded onto a recording medium together with identification data of a predetermined data pattern. Error detecting and correcting are performed on data reproduced from the recording medium so as to obtain the data recorded on the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 5161171
Abstract: In an apparatus for transmitting digital data which includes information data and synchronous data having a plural-byte code arranged in a plural-byte code of the information data; the top bit position of the sync code is predicted by converting the transmitted digital data into parallel data at a desired timing and then comparing each byte of the parallel data with a particular byte of the sync code; and the sync code is detected in the transmitted digital data by first extracting, from the parallel data, a length corresponding to the plural-byte sync code starting from the predicted top bit position of the sync code and then comparing the extracted parallel data with the sync code.

  • Patent number: 5045954
Abstract: A magnetic recording and playback apparatus using a magnetic head disposed on a rotating drum for forming oblique recording tracks in succession on a magnetic tape to record or playback serial data along the same, has a tracking control for controlling the height of the magnetic head in the direction perpendicular to the length of the recording track. A speed control is included for controlling the rotating speed of the rotating drum and/or the traveling speed of the magnetic tape in accordance with the bit transfer rate of the serial data so that the magnetic tape travels one reference track pitch while the rotating drum makes an integer number of rotations. A processor is included for compressing the serial data along the time base so that the serial data is recorded while the magnetic head scans the recording track.

  • Patent number: 5041271
Abstract: A waste gas containing sulfur oxides (SO.sub.x) and/or nitrogen oxides (NO.sub.x) is purified by leading the waste gas to a radiation irradiation zone, adding ammonia (NH.sub.3) to the waste gas before, during or after the irradiation, collecting the resulting by-product (ammonium sulfate and/or ammonium nitrate) by means of a dust collector, and releasing the purified waste gas into the atmosphere. The amount of NH.sub.3 to be added is selected so as to be smaller than an amount calculated from target desulfurization and denitrification efficiencies so that it is possible to reduce the leakage of ammonia despite variations in the composition of the waste gas.

  • Patent number: 4961830
Abstract: In a waste gas treating method wherein waste gas is treated by adding ammonia thereto and irradiating this waste gas with electron beams, the adhesion of a by-product to the inner wall of a duct is inhibited by feeding the waste gas after irradiation with electron beams at a flow velocity of 10 m/sec or less, more preferably 5 m/sec or less, until it at least reaches a first by-product collector. The duct may have a rectangular cross-sectional configuration. Thus, it is possible to inhibit increase in the pressure loss of the waste gas being treated and enable stable operation of the waste gas treating process.

  • Patent number: 4952231
Abstract: A solid product which comprises ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate and which contains a sulfamic acid compound is produced when an effluent gas having ammonia added thereto is irradiated with a radiation to thereby desulfurize and denitrate the effluent gas comprising SO.sub.x, NO.sub.x and CO, but the CO gas content being less than ten times the concentration of SO.sub.x. It is possible to remove the noxious sulfamic acid compound from the above-described product while preventing decomposition of the ammonium nitrate in the product which is useful as a fertilizer ingredient by heating the product at a temperature of from 130.degree. C. to 250.degree. C., particularly from 180.degree. C. to 250.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4882020
Abstract: A process for treating an effluent gas which includes the steps of leading an effluent gas containing sulfur oxides (SO.sub.x) and/or nitrogen oxides (NO.sub.x) to a radiation irradiation zone, adding ammonia (NH.sub.3) to the effluent gas before, during or after the irradiation, collecting resulting ammonium sulfate and/or ammonium nitrate by means of a dust collector, and releasing the effluent gas into the atmosphere. The desulfurization and/or denitration rate is improved by using as the dust collector a bag filter alone or a combination of an electrostatic precipitator and a bag filter, and adjusting the effluent gas temperature at the outlet of the bag filter within the range of from a temperature at which the humidity of the effluent gas is saturated to 100.degree. C.
