  • Publication number: 20040013403
Abstract: An editing apparatus edits management information including a reproduction procedure of a video stream having sets of picture data. A reproducing apparatus reproduces the video stream based on the management information. The video stream and the management information are prerecorded on a digital recording medium. In the editing apparatus, receiving unit receives user edit information specifying a part to be edited in the reproduction procedure. Generating unit generates a new reproduction procedure by editing the specified part, generating new management information. Attaching unit attaches entry information marking the new reproduction procedure at which editing was performed according to the user's intention, to the new management information. Recording unit records the new management information with the entry information onto the digital recording medium. In the reproduction apparatus, collecting unit collects section information featuring each section separated by the entry information.

  • Publication number: 20030227716
Abstract: A thin film magnetic head ncludes a three-step configuration including deep and shallow groove surfaces, a super shallow groove surface, and an air bearing surface, and also, island-shaped center rail is provided in the center of the air outflow end of the disk-facing air bearing surface having a boundary on the surface of base alumina between a head element portion and a substrate, without including the surface of the substrate. Further, by providing in the surface of the substrate the super shallow groove surface shallower than a shallow groove surface, an alumina recession between the surface of the substrate and the head element portion, produced in a shallow dual step sub ambient slider, can be eliminated. Magnetic spacing between the head of the head element portion and the magnetic layer of the disk can be thereby reduced.

  • Patent number: 6638403
Abstract: In the plasma processing device which utilizes a low pressure arc discharge, a method for efficiently capturing and removing electrically charged particles and neutral particles having no charge which are at most 5 &mgr;m in particle diameter is demanded. The electrically charged particles can be captured efficiently by installing an electric field filter in a transportation course of plasma. The electric field filter has a cylindrical structure which is uneven in inner wall shape. A voltage in the range of 10 to 90 V is applied to the electric field filter. The neutral filters can be captured efficiently by installing a neutral filter having an opening sectional area which is at most 40% of a sectional area of the transportation course.

  • Patent number: 6565916
Abstract: A method for producing an oxide cathode including a sleeve containing a heater coil, a cathode substrate provided on one end of the sleeve, and an emissive material layer formed by thermally decomposing an alkaline earth metal carbonate layer adhered onto the cathode substrate, which method includes adhering the alkaline earth metal carbonate onto the cathode substrate so that it has a bulk density of 0.5 to 0.8 g/cm3, then pressing it so that the bulk density becomes not more than 0.9 g/cm3, and then thermally decomposing it in vacuum. Accordingly, an oxide cathode in which the current density distribution of emission electrons is smooth and an electron emission characteristic is not deteriorated when operated for a long time is realized, and a method for producing a cathode-ray tube with high resolution in which moire is invisible is provided.

  • Publication number: 20010026511
Abstract: An information recording medium comprises a user area, and a spare area including a replacement area, wherein the replacement area may be used instead of a defective area in the user area. The user area and the spare area include a plurality of sectors. Each of the plurality of sectors includes a user data area for recording user data, and an attribute data area for recording defect replacement allowance attribute data. The defect replacement allowance attribute data indicates whether recording of the user data has been executed in a state that the execution of a defect replacement process is allowed. In the defect replacement process, the defective area in the user area is replaced with the replacement area in the spare area.
