Patent number: 6511141Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus is provided with a recording function to record images on a sheet material by installing an ink jet recording head that discharges ink from the ink discharge ports, and also, with an image reading function to read images from a sheet material by installing an image reading head exchangeably. This apparatus includes the discharge port surface of the ink jet recording head having the ink discharge ports formed on it, the image reading surface of the image reading head to read images to this head from the image reading surface, and a member that abuts upon the ink discharge port surface arranged to be in contact with the ink discharge port surface of the ink jet recording head. This member is arranged so as not to be in contact with the image reading surface of the image reading head. Thus the image reading surface of the image reading head is prevented from being stained by ink.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1999Date of Patent: January 28, 2003Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Koh Hasegawa, Toshihide Wada, Shinya Asano, Tadashi Hanabusa, Tetsuji Kurata, Tetsuyo Ohashi, Toshihiko Bekki

Publication number: 20030007046Abstract: An inkjet recording device including a tank incorporated inside an inkjet recording head and divided into a large-capacity main chamber and first and second vertically-arranged needle-receiving chambers. Each needle-receiving chamber includes a connecting hole for communication with the main chamber and an opening for receiving a needle. First and second needles that pass through corresponding first and second resilient joints that seal the opening are inserted into the corresponding first and second needle-receiving chambers. The upper first needle is connected to a pump for discharging air through a first tube, and the lower second needle is connected to a main tank for supplying ink through a second tube. In each needle-receiving chamber, the connecting hole is positioned above the opening, and/or the connecting hole is made small. When the connecting hole is above the opening, the inkjet recording device reduces the tendency of ink to solidify near holes of the needles used to supply ink.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2002Publication date: January 9, 2003Applicant: CANON KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Shinya Asano, Yukuo Yamaguchi, Tetsuya Ishikawa

Patent number: 6471428Abstract: A feeding apparatus, a printing apparatus and a feeding control method can simplify control software significantly on a printing apparatus side and can provide freedom of design in the feeding apparatus. A communication port is provided for communication between the feeding apparatus and the printer. The feeding apparatus performs paper feeding operation after receiving a paper feeding command from the printer. When a sheet is fed in the printer, a feeding operation completion signal is transmitted to the printer. On the other hand, rotation of a feeding roller is resumed at a slightly earlier timing than a rotation start timing of a transporting roller. Therefore, back tension on the sheet by the feeding roller is minimized, and positioning the top of the sheet by the transporting roller is enhanced reliably.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1999Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takeshi Iwasaki, Koh Hasegawa, Shinya Asano, Hiroyuki Inoue, Takashi Nojima, Akira Kida, Noriko Kawasaki

Patent number: 6435663Abstract: A liquid discharge head unit is positioned in high precision when mounted on the carriage of a liquid discharge recording apparatus. For the liquid discharge head unit, a side extrusion formed in column, which is rotatively supported in carriage, presses the upper surface of guide ribs formed on both side ends on the upper rear portion. This upper surface is made higher toward the rear side in order to effectuate the substantially horizontal movement of the pressurized position from the front side to the rear side. Then, the liquid discharge head unit is rotated around the side extrusion formed in column so as to be mounted on the carriage smoothly. Lastly, a guide pin, a rear extrusion, and a lower extrusion are allowed to abut against the corresponding portions of the carriage by means of pressure exerted on a receiving rib in order to perform positioning in the front, rear, left, right, up and down directions exactly.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2001Date of Patent: August 20, 2002Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yukuo Yamaguchi, Shinya Asano

Patent number: 6213464Abstract: A skew feed or damage in the sheet in automatic feeding is avoided. In an image forming apparatus provided with a printer for recording an image, the printer is provided with a feeding port for enabling manual insert sheet feeding and an automatic sheet feeder (ASF) is detachably mounted on the feeding port to enable automatic sheet feeding through the feeding port. As shown in the drawings, the printer is provided with a printer sheet guide for manual insert sheet feeding, while the ASF is provided with an ASF sheet guide for automatic sheet feeding, and the ASF sheet guide is displaced toward the inner side of the sheet by a predetermined amount with respect to the printer sheet guide. Thus, the sheet automatically fed utilizing the ASF sheet guide does not contact the printer sheet guide, whereby the skew feed of the sheet and the damage to the sheet end can be prevented.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroyuki Inoue, Koh Hasegawa, Shinya Asano, Takashi Nojima, Akira Kida, Takeshi Iwasaki, Noriko Kawasaki

Patent number: 6200043Abstract: The present invention provides a sheet feeding apparatus and an image forming apparatus, in which excellent mounting ability is achieved and damage and dislodging of a recording apparatus can be prevented. A mounting opening for mounting the recording apparatus is formed in a side surface of an apparatus body comprised of an ASF upper case and an ASF base. When the recording apparatus is mounted, after the recording apparatus is rested on a recording apparatus supporting portions for supporting the recording apparatus for shifting movement in a mounting direction, the recording apparatus is guided along the recording apparatus supporting portions in the mounting direction. By providing an eaves portion substantially in parallel with the recording apparatus supporting portions, an upward movement of the recording apparatus is regulated when and after the recording apparatus is mounted.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1999Date of Patent: March 13, 2001Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroyuki Inoue, Koh Hasegawa, Shinya Asano, Takashi Nojima, Akira Kida, Takeshi Iwasaki, Noriko Kawasaki
