Abstract: A recording apparatus for performing recording by transferring ink on an ink sheet onto recording medium includes a sensor for determining the type of ink sheet to be used for recording, a recorder for performing recording by transferring the ink on the ink sheet onto the recording medium, and a controller for controlling the relative movement of the ink sheet with respect to the recorder during the recording performed by the recorder in accordance with the type of ink sheet determined by the sensor.

Abstract: A recording apparatus is capable of recording an image on a recording medium and of erasing an image recorded on the recording medium. The apparatus has a recording device such as a print hammer and a drive motor therefor; an erasure tape for erasing the image recorded on the recording medium by the recording device; a shift mechanism for shifting the erasure tape upwardly or downwardly; a circuit for causing the erasure tape to execute a plurality of image erasing operations; a recognition device for recognizing an erasure condition such as the kind of erasure ribbon, the kind of character and the size of a character; and a control circuit for controlling the shift mechanism so that the amount of shift of the erasure tape varies in accordance with the erasure conditions recognized by the recognition device. It is accordingly possible to improve the image erasure function of the apparatus.

Abstract: An impact printer for recording onto a sheet by striking an ink ribbon and for correcting the recorded data by striking a correction ribbon. The printer comprises: a platen to support a recording sheet; a print hammer to strike a recording ink ribbon and a correction ribbon onto the sheet; a supply reel to feed the ink ribbon; a first memory to store ink ribbon feeding amounts in the case where the ink ribbon and correction ribbon are overlaid and struck by the recording head to thereby correct the recorded data; a controller to control the supply reel on the basis of the ink ribbon feeding amount stored in the first memory and to feed the ink ribbon upon correction; and a second memory to store types of correction ribbons. The controller reads out the ink ribbon feeding amount from the first memory on the basis of the type of the correction ribbon and changes the ink ribbon feeding amount of the supply reel in accordance with the type of recording ribbon which is used.

Abstract: An image recording apparatus for recording an image on a recording sheet includes a recording head for recording the image on the recording sheet, a carriage for holding the recording head, the carriage being reciprocated along a convey route of the recording sheet, a motor for applying a drive force for conveying the recording sheet and a drive force for causing the recording head to move between a recording position where the recording head performs image recording and a retracted position where the recording head is retracted from the recording position, and a control unit for controlling the motor to switch between conveying the recording sheet and moving the recording head in accordance with movement of the carriage.
