    Abstract: A multimedia information recording device is used for efficiently recording multimedia information (100) file storage area (111) on a recording medium (110). From the multimedia information given to the device, a data body DB and control information (HD and FD) are created and given to a file storage area writing section (106) where the data is written in parallel at a time on a free cluster in the file storage area. In the free area of each cluster where the data is written, dummy data is packed by a dummy data adding section (107) to absorb the difference between the first position of a cluster and the first position of the data in the cluster. Thus, data rewriting to eliminate this difference is avoided. Information for connecting plural clusters where data is written is created by a multimedia information file creating section (108), and the multimedia information is recorded in a multimedia information file on the recording medium.

    Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to effectively encode/decode position information of leaves or nodes in tree-structured information by using a less amount of bits. The coding device according to the present invention includes a branching layer discriminating portion for identifying a hierarchical layer in which a leaf or node and a preceding leaf or node are separately branched and a position information coding portion for outputting a code corresponding to the identified hierarchical layer as a position information code for the leaf or node. Namely, merely information indicating a hierarchical layer in which a current leaf or node and a preceding leaf or node are separately branched is encoded as the position information of the leaf or node, thus increasing the efficiency of encoding leaf or node positions in the tree-structured information.

    Abstract: An excitation coil is arranged so as to be opposed to a rotatable heat generating roller of a conductive material, and on a rear side of the excitation coil, a core of a magnetic material is provided. The core is composed of a central core that is formed continuously in a rotation axis direction of the heat generating roller, and a plurality of U-shaped cores arranged at a distance from each other in that direction. A high-frequency current is applied to the excitation coil so that the heat generating roller 1 generates heat by electromagnetic induction. An additional coil is wound around the U-shaped core. Both ends of the additional coil are connected to a switching unit. When the switching unit is brought to a connected state, under an induction current generated in the additional coil, a magnetic flux in a direction in which a magnetic flux of the excitation coil is cancelled out is generated, so that heat generation of the heat generating roller can be suppressed.
