  • Patent number: 10142878
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for extending coverage of a wireless device. A plurality of wireless devices located in a coverage area of a first access node can be monitored for a first condition. At least one wireless device of the plurality of wireless devices that meets the first condition can be classified as a high power wireless device. Two or more indicators reported by the at least one wireless device are compared to a criteria. When the two or more indicators meet the criteria, a handoff of the at least one wireless device from the first access node to a second access node can be performed.

  • Publication number: 20180337862
Abstract: The present invention relates to communications methods, apparatus and systems for collecting metrics and/or traffic routing using SDN principles. In an exemplary method embodiment, the method includes the steps of: operating a SBC to: (i) receive a session initiation signal used to initiate a first media session; (ii) send to an SDN controller session identification information identifying a first RTCP packet stream corresponding to the first media session and causing said SDN controller to control a first open flow switch to establish an entry in a table to cause the first open flow switch to send a copy of the RTCP packets corresponding to the first RTCP packet stream to the SBC while also communicating the RTCP packets corresponding to the first RTCP packet stream towards the intended first RTCP packet stream destination.

  • Patent number: 10136370
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and corresponding system for controlling operation of a user equipment device (UE) in a communication system comprising a first network and a second network interconnected with the first network. The UE may detect a public land mobile network identifier (PLMN ID) broadcast by a base station of the first network, where the base station does not support circuit switched fallback (CSFB) between the two networks The UE may determine, based on the detected PLMN ID, whether to operate in a first mode or a second mode, where (i) the first mode comprises, in response to the base station not supporting CSFB, the UE declining to be served by the base station and the UE instead being served directly by the second network and (ii) the second mode comprises the UE being served by the base station. The UE may then operate in the determined mode.

  • Patent number: 10133321
Abstract: A computer device may include one or more electronic components located in a passive cooling zone. A wall divides the passive cooling zone from an active cooling zone and acoustically isolating the active cooling zone from the passive cooling zone. A heat sink attached to at least one of the one or more electronic may extend from the passive cooling zone to the active cooling zone through the wall. At least one noise emitting component may be located in the active zone. A method of controlling noise in the computer device may include determining, by a processor of the computer device located in the passive cooling zone, a noise frequency of a noise emitting component located within an active cooling zone of the computer device. • Patent number: 10136465
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for providing enhanced access class barring in LTE are provided. In embodiments, the method includes receiving, on a mobile device, a SIB2 message. A barring factor associated with the SIB2 message is identified. In embodiments, the barring factor is dynamic based on traffic parameters associated with a network. An upper limit for a random number is set on the mobile device and the random number is generated. The random number is generated and compared to the barring factor. If the random number is less than the barring factor, access to the network is provided to the mobile device. In embodiments, an additional random number is generated for special users or devices if the random number is greater than or equal to the barring factor.

  • Publication number: 20180332042
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that securely authenticate a user of a web application. For example, the user may utilize a bot from within a first application, such as a chat application. The user may request the bot to access a second application (e.g., a social-networking application) that is remote from the first application. If the bot does not have authorization, the bot may redirect the user to a webpage for the second application, where the user may enter login credentials. Upon verification, the second application may provide an access token to a webpage associated with the bot. To authenticate the bot user, the bot webpage may generate and cache a nonce that is transmitted back to the first application, which then transmits it to the bot. The bot may then compare the received nonce with the cached nonce. If the nonces match, the user may be securely authenticated.

  • Publication number: 20180332016
Abstract: A network device receives credentials of a user of a client device, and receives an enrollment request from the client device, wherein the enrollment request includes a network address of the client device. The network device generates a token comprising the network address and an identifier of the user, encrypts the token, and sends the encrypted token to the client device. The network device receives, when the client device attempts to access a protected resource or a network service, the encrypted token from the client device for authenticating the client device without further requiring the credentials of the user.

  • Patent number: 10129769
Abstract: Systems and methods for adaptively adjusting a transaction rate at a mobile network node. A first mobile network client node receives configuration parameters including an initial transaction rate, a step up rate, a step down rate, a minimum rate, a maximum rate, an evaluation time period, a step up response time threshold, a step down response time threshold, a step up threshold percentage of responses, and a step down threshold percentage of responses. Responses associated with communications with the server node are received during a first time period associated with the evaluation time period. A percentage of the received responses being less than the step up response time threshold and a percentage of the received responses being greater than the step down response time threshold are determined. An initial transaction rate is increased by the step up rate or decreased by the step down rate based on the determined percentages.

  • Patent number: 10125589
Abstract: Described herein are methods and system that use electromagnetic heating to heat wellbores and the fluids therein. The heating is achieved by placing one or more permanent magnets in the wellbore and moving a metallic component and/or the one or more permanent magnets relative to each other. This generates eddy currents in the metallic component, which heat the metallic component. This heat is transferred to the fluids in the wellbore from the metallic component by convection. In some embodiments, permanent magnets are installed in the tubing to induce eddy current heating in a well by converting the linear motion of a sucker rod to rotary motion of a conducting tube using a lead or ball screw. The heater may directly integrate with existing pump jack equipment with little or no additional infrastructure required.

  • Patent number: 10129175
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for performing carrier aggregation based on subframe configuration. It may be determined that conditions for a wireless device in communication with an access node meet a carrier aggregation criteria, wherein the access node and wireless device communicate using a first subframe configuration. Signal information may be received from the wireless device comprising received signal levels for a plurality of candidate secondary carriers. Subframe configurations used by the candidate secondary carriers to communicate with wireless devices may be retrieved. One or more of the plurality of candidate secondary carriers may be selected based on the received signal level information and the retrieved subframe configurations. And carrier aggregation may be activated such that the one or more selected secondary carriers are used to transmit downlink data to the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20180318504
Abstract: A device for limitation of the injection pressure of a medical instrument for introduction of a fluid, having a housing, with an entrance of the housing for introducing the fluid at an inlet pressure, with an outlet of the housing for introducing the fluid to the instrument, with a flow-through channel of the housing connecting the entrance and the outlet and with a plunger guided in the housing which is impinged on by the pressure of the fluid and through this pressure is movable against a resetting force. On the plunger a blocking element is arranged, which is located in the flow cross section of the flow-through channel, and that the blocking element releases the flow cross section, when the pressure of the fluid impinging on the plunger lies beneath a value preset by the resetting force, and blocks the flow cross section when the pressure of the fluid impinging on the plunger exceeds this preset value and moves the plunger against the resetting force.

  • Patent number: 10122282
Abstract: An electronic system and method include a controller to actively control power transfer from a primary winding of a switching power converter to an auxiliary-winding of an auxiliary power supply. The switching power converter is controlled and configured such that during transfer of power to the auxiliary-winding, the switching power converter does not transfer charge to one or more secondary-windings of the switching power converter. Thus, the switching power converter isolates one or more secondary transformer winding currents from an auxiliary-winding current. By isolating the charge delivered to the one or more secondary-windings from charge delivered to the auxiliary-winding, the controller can accurately determine an amount of charge delivered to the secondary-windings and, thus, to a load.
