Publication number: 20200267681Abstract: Position determination of a user equipment (UE) is supported using channel measurements obtained for Wireless Access Points (WAPs), wherein the channel measurements are for Line of Sight (LOS) and Non-LOS (NLOS) signals. Based on WAP almanac information and the channel measurements, channel parameters indicative of positions of signal sources relative to a first position of a UE may be determined. Using the first position of the UE and an association of the signal sources with corresponding channel parameters, a second position of the UE may be determined. The position of the UE may be a probability density function. Additionally, position information for signal sources may be determined, such as a probability density function, as well as signal blockage probability and an antenna geometry and the WAP almanac information may be updated accordingly.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2020Publication date: August 20, 2020Inventors: Lorenzo FERRARI, Taesang YOO, Siddhartha MALLIK

Patent number: 10742353Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In accordance with the described techniques, communicating devices (e.g., an encoder and decoder) may apply an orthogonal cover code to a polar codeword to reduce cross-correlation between different codewords. For example, such techniques may reduce power consumption at a decoding device by providing for earlier decoding termination (e.g., as a result of the reduced cross-correlation). Techniques for generating the cover codes (e.g., on a per-aggregation level basis) and applying the cover codes (e.g., within a search space) are described. Additionally or alternatively, the described techniques may relate to seeding of reference signals used to support decoding of the codewords. Improved orthogonality between reference signal seeds may further suppress codeword recipient ambiguity.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2019Date of Patent: August 11, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Jamie Menjay Lin, Siddhartha Mallik, Tamer Kadous

Patent number: 10728928Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to performing random backoff over multiple spatial dimensions in spatial listen-before-talk (LBT) procedures are provided. A first wireless communication device determines a first backoff counter for contending for a transmission opportunity (TXOP) in a communication medium over a first spatial subspace. The first wireless communication device detects a transmission in the TXOP within the first spatial subspace. The first wireless communication device determines a second backoff counter for contending for the TXOP over a second spatial subspace that is different from the first spatial subspace based on the detecting. The second spatial subspace is part of the first spatial subspace and the detected transmission is in a different spatial subspace than the second spatial subspace.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2018Date of Patent: July 28, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Xiaoxia Zhang, Taesang Yoo, Siddhartha Mallik, Aleksandar Damnjanovic, Tamer Kadous

Publication number: 20200228996Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for protecting overhead and common channel transmissions in a NR shared spectrum system. A BS of a first operator may receive information regarding at least one overhead transmission associated with a wireless device of a second operator and may protect one or more overhead signal transmissions of the wireless device based, at least in part, on the received information. A UE may detect information associated with at least one overhead transmission from a wireless device associated with a first operator and may transmit the information regarding the detected overhead transmission to a BS associated with a second operator. A UE served by a BS associated with a first operator may detect a wireless device (e.g., another UE or a BS) associated with a second operator. The UE may report an identification of the wireless device to the BS.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2020Publication date: July 16, 2020Inventors: Aleksandar DAMNJANOVIC, Juan MONTOJO, Siddhartha MALLIK

Patent number: 10681733Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) or base station communicating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may transmit a signal (e.g., a request-to-send (RTS) or clear-to-send (CTS) signal) in a licensed radio frequency spectrum band to decrease the likelihood that neighboring devices will transmit interfering communications. Specific resources may be designated in the licensed radio frequency spectrum band for transmitting these signals, and these resources may be associated with specific unlicensed channels. Signaling in the licensed radio frequency spectrum band may also carry an indication of the unlicensed channel being used or other information relevant to the unlicensed communication. The RTS/CTS signaling in licensed radio frequency spectrum band may be transmitted during a downlink transmit opportunity or an uplink transmit opportunity, or both.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2017Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Siddhartha Mallik, Taesang Yoo, Jing Sun, Anastasios Stamoulis, Aleksandar Damnjanovic, Juan Montojo

Publication number: 20200169312Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure relate to an improved coordinated multipoint (CoMP) network operating in a millimeter wave frequency band in which user equipment (UEs) combine signals received across multiple spatial beams from multiple base stations. The improved CoMP network can achieve high throughput, low latency, and/or high reliability at millimeter wave frequencies while maintaining a reasonable network complexity (e.g., lower network overhead than CoMP networks implemented with coherent combining). For example, the improved CoMP network can include one or more base stations and one or more UEs. Multiple base stations can transmit the same data across multiple spatial beams to a UE at the same time. The base stations may use information provided by a UE to identify an active set of base stations and/or spatial beams to serve the UE.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2019Publication date: May 28, 2020Inventors: Peter John Black, Tamer Adel Kadous, Michael Mingxi Fan, Siddhartha Mallik

Patent number: 10609664Abstract: A network operator may synchronize access for wireless nodes (e.g., base stations) associated with the network operator. However, each network operator of a group of network operators may not synchronize access among the group. A lack of synchronization between network operators intending to utilize shared channels of a wireless communication system may result in a failure to utilize all available network resources. In some aspects, a device associated with a first network operator, of a plurality of network operators, may listen for communications associated with other network operators, of the plurality of network operators in a shared radio frequency spectrum band, during a set of intervals of a transmission opportunity of a channel for which the other network operators have a higher priority, and may communicate, using the channel, with a wireless node associated with the network operator based at least in part on the listening for communications.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2017Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Xiaoxia Zhang, Taesang Yoo, Siddhartha Mallik, Juan Montojo, Aleksandar Damnjanovic
