  • Patent number: 10602545
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for detection and management of hidden node interference. A user equipment (UE) may provide measurement reports to a serving transmitting device to help identify the hidden node interferer in response to detecting hidden node interference. The serving transmitting device may collaborate with one or more neighboring transmitting devices, such as other transmitting devices of an operator of a wireless communications system, to identify one or more of the neighboring transmitting devices that are within an energy detect or preamble detect radius of the hidden node. The serving transmitting device may coordinate with the neighboring transmitting device(s) to determine when the hidden node may transmit, to transmit coordinated preamble transmissions to prevent the hidden node from transmitting during a transmission, or to identify a modulation and coding scheme for the transmission.

  • Patent number: 10587497
Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to channel sensing for independent links. In some aspects, the independent links may involve a first device (e.g., a user equipment) communicating via different independent links with different devices (e.g., transmit receive points (TRPs) or sets of TRPs). For example, the first device may communicate with a second device (e.g., a first TRP) via a first link and communicate with a third device (e.g., a second TRP) via a second link. In some scenarios, first channel sensing information may be obtained for the first link and second channel sensing information may be obtained for the second link. In some aspects, a decision of whether to transmit via one or more of the links may be based on the channel sensing on one or more of the links. In some cases, the links may be grouped together as a channel sensing group.

  • Publication number: 20200077439
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless communication system may utilize a listen before talk (LBT) procedure prior to transmission. A base station may perform an enhanced clear channel assessment (eCCA) on one channel and a single clear channel assessment (CCA) on another channel. The base station may then send a grant for a user equipment (UE) to transmit on both channels. The UE may receive the grant, and perform a single CCA on the first channel and an eCCA on the second channel. The UE may then transmit uplink information on both the first channel and the second channel. That is, the base station may send an opportunistic grant for transmitting on the second channel even though it may not have passed eCCA at the base station. The UE may then use the channel if it passes an eCCA.

  • Publication number: 20200077394
Abstract: Techniques are described for preempting resource allocations to one or more UEs in the event that delay sensitive data is received. A resource allocation of a number of symbols may be granted to a first user equipment (UE) for first associated data to be transmitted. Subsequently, data may be received for a second UE that is more delay sensitive than the first data. The resource allocation to the first UE may be preempted, and resources allocated to the second UE for the second data within a variable length transmission time interval (TTI) of the resource allocation to the first UE. UEs may monitor for preemption during transmissions to other UEs in order to receive new resource grants associated with the preempted resource grant. Whether a UE monitors transmissions for preemption may be determined based on a quality or service (QoS) of the UE.

  • Patent number: 10581722
Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to power control for independent links. For example, power control at a device may be based on transmissions on multiple links. In some aspects, the independent links may involve a first device (e.g., a user equipment) communicating via different independent links with different devices (e.g., transmit receive points (TRPs) or sets of TRPs). For example, the first device may communicate with a second device (e.g., a TRP) via a first link and communicate with a third device (e.g., a TRP) via a second link. In some scenarios, power control for the first device may be based on power control commands received on multiple links. In some scenarios, a power control constraint may be met taking into account the transmission power on multiple links.

  • Patent number: 10581568
Abstract: Network discovery and synchronization for new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) is discussed for a wireless network having a super frame configuration on a shared spectrum shared between a plurality of network operators. A base station may obtain a discovery preamble from a plurality of network entities within the wireless network, wherein each of the plurality of network entities belongs to one or more of the plurality of network operators and shares the super frame configuration. The base station detects the timing of the super frame configuration using the discovery preamble and may then synchronize the base station to the super frame configuration according to the detected timing.

  • Publication number: 20200067639
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE) may monitor for a decoding candidate of a codeword, wherein the codeword corresponds to a set of received bit metrics, and the decoding candidate corresponds to a plurality of information bits encoded using a polar code, determine a composite detection metric for the codeword for the decoding candidate, where the composite detection metric is derived from a subset of bit metrics for an intermediate polarization layer of the polar code, and determine a classification for performing a list decoding process on the codeword according to the decoding candidate based at least in part on the composite detection metric.

  • Patent number: 10554540
Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to controlling allocations for independent links. For example, a device may dynamically control the uplink/downlink allocations for different links. In some aspects, the independent links may involve a first device (e.g., a user equipment) communicating via different independent links with different devices (e.g., transmit receive points (TRPs) or sets of TRPs). At least one device may signal the uplink/downlink allocation for the different links. If the isolation between links is high, the links may use different time division duplexed (TDD) or frequency division duplexed (FDD) subframe structures. If the isolation is low or for certain types of information (e.g., control information), the direction of transmission for one link may be constrained to be the same as the direction of transmission for another link (e.g., the links may use the same TDD/FDD frame structures). Also, sounding on different links may be time division multiplexed.

  • Patent number: 10547422
Abstract: Sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission with implied request-to-send (RTS)/clear-to-send (CTS) operations is discussed. Two different types of SRS are defined, a legacy SRS associated with channel measurement sounding, and a contention SRS associated with contention resolution for medium sharing. The type of SRS may be distinguished based on the SRS resource associated with the particular type. Thus, legacy SRS are assigned to one SRS resource, while contention SRS are assigned to separate SRS resources. Therefore, when a neighbor node detects an SRS associated with the SRS resource for contention-type SRS, the neighbor node may know to refrain from transmission or to adjust or modify its communications depending on a spatial direction of the contention SRS.

  • Patent number: 10542556
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for MCS and/or rank selection for UE jointly served by BSs in a CoMP cluster. As described herein, MCS and/or rank selection may be based, at least in part, on the inter-cluster interference and intra-cluster interference experienced by the UE. According to aspects, a CoMP scheduler may assign a UE served by BSs in a CoMP cluster to one of a first group of UEs or a second group of UEs based, at least in part, on inter-cluster and intra-cluster interference experienced by the UE. The scheduler may assign at least one of a MCS or rank selection to the UE based, at least in part, on the assigned group. The scheduler may provide an indication, to one or more BSs in the CoMP cluster, of the at least one MCS or rank selection assigned to the UE.

  • Publication number: 20200022029
Abstract: A medium reservation framework is disclosed for coexistence of coordinated and uncoordinated wireless networks in licensed spectrum and shared spectrum. The proposed medium reservation framework organically takes into account operating regimes with different numbers of Tx/Rx antennas per node, provides flexibility in trading off medium contention aggressiveness and power saving, leverages the inherent synchronization nature of NR, and covers both coordinated and uncoordinated operation scenarios. Various aspects of the medium reservation framework may be centered on one or more combinations of some basic building blocks, such as an operation grid, synchronization signals, and reservation messages, such as a reservation request signal (RRQ) and one or more a reservation response signals (RRS).
