  • Publication number: 20050068981
Abstract: An IP packet version converting apparatus and method, the IP packet header converting method includes recognizing one of fields of a header of an IP packet of a first type, in which a value regarding an expansion function is recorded, the expansion function being incompatible between the IP packet of the first type and an IP packet of a second type; and converting the field recognized in one of the fields of the header of the IP packet into a field compatible with the IP packet of the second type.

  • Publication number: 20050066055
Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for configuring a unicast address and a multicast address of a IPv6 host using local information and a service method using the unicast address and the multicast address of the IPv6 host that is configured using the local information. The service method includes: if a service provider desires unicasting service for a host located in a specific area, providing unicasting service to the host using local information allocated to the specific area; and if a service provider desires multicasting service for a plurality of hosts located in a specific area, providing multicasting service to the plurality of hosts using local information allocated to the specific area. Using the apparatus and method, it is possible for multicasting service providers in a IPv6-based network to effectively provide local service without using an additional inter-domain allocation protocol.

  • Publication number: 20040228335
Abstract: Provided are a system and method for deleting tunneling when a correspondent node is connected to a mobile node that has moved to a different network. The system includes a domain name service server, a mobile node that moves to a different network, a domain name dynamic updating server, and a correspondent node. The domain name service server manages domain names and address of a plurality of mobile nodes. Once the domain name dynamic update server receives a message including the created address by the mobile node, the domain name dynamic update server updates domain name and address of the mobile node that are registered in the domain name service server using the domain name and address contained in the received message. The correspondent node connects to the domain name service server, obtains the updated address of the mobile node, and transmits a packet to the mobile node using the obtained address.

  • Publication number: 20040230446
Abstract: A method and a system of automatically creating and registering a domain name and an IP address in an IPv6 (IP version 6) network are provided. According to the method of automatically registering a domain name, name information of a network including a host is received. A link local address of the host is created and it is determined whether the created link local address has already been used. If the created link local address has not been used, an interface ID used to determine the host is extracted from the created link local address. A domain name is created using the extracted interface ID and the received name information of the network. The created domain name is registered in a domain name server.

  • Publication number: 20040205246
Abstract: Provided are a method of identifying devices connected to wireless local area network (WLAN) home network and a recording medium on which a data structure having an address system that enables devices in a WLAN home network to be distinguished from one another is recorded. The method involves identifying the devices using device ID information recorded on part of an interface ID area other than a company ID area and a serial number area, the interface ID area having an EUI-64 ID format according to an IPv6 address system.

  • Publication number: 20040165602
Abstract: A method and system for interconnecting an Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) network and an Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) network are provided. The system for interconnecting an IPv4 network and an IPv6 network includes IPv4 nodes, IPv6 nodes, and apparatuses for transmitting IP packets between the IPv4 nodes and the IPv6 nodes, wherein the apparatuses for transmitting IP packets share processing state information of the IP packets, using a predetermined message, to distribute their load of processing the IP packets. The IPv4-IPv6 interconnection method involves appropriately arranging NAT-PT apparatuses depending on the size of the networks such that packet processing speed and performance are improved over the use of a single NAT-PT apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20040148398
Abstract: There is provided a method for automatically registering an IP address and domain name of a host in a network using the IP Version 6 (IPv6) protocol. The IP address and domain name automatic registration method includes: multicasting an NS message, which includes the IP address and domain name of the host, performing a Duplicate Address Detection (DAD) process, and if no other host exists on the same network and uses the IP address or domain name of the host, automatically registering the IP address or domain name in a DNS server or in the respective storage areas of the plurality of other hosts. Therefore, the IPv6 address and domain name of each host can be automatically stored and managed without duplication.
