  • Publication number: 20120161825
Abstract: A switching voltage regulator system and method for providing a start-up mode. An on-chip voltage regulator can be integrated with an on-chip digital logic circuit to provide a core supply voltage to the on-chip digital logic circuit along with an off-chip inductor and capacitor. A clock less start-up circuit automatically operates the on-chip voltage regulator in a start-up mode in order to maintain an equilibrium voltage supply with respect to the on-chip digital logic circuit. Such clock less start-up circuit provides soft start-up operation with respect to the on-chip voltage regulator without a clock signal.

  • Publication number: 20120161735
Abstract: A peak current controlled switching voltage regulator system and method for providing a self-power down mode. An on-chip voltage regulator integrated into an on-chip digital logic circuit provides a core supply voltage to the on-chip digital logic circuit along with an off-chip inductor. An off-chip regulator connected to the on-chip digital logic circuit provides an external core supply voltage with respect to the on-chip digital logic circuit. A start-up circuit operates the on-chip voltage regulator in a self-power down mode for a predetermined time period when the on-chip regulator is not connected to the off-chip inductor in order to maintain an equilibrium voltage supply with respect to the on-chip digital logic circuit.

  • Patent number: 8209545
Abstract: Circuits, methods, and apparatus that prevent detection and erasure of encoding or encryption keys. These encoding keys may be used to encode a configuration bitstream or other data for an FPGA or other device. An exemplary embodiment of the present invention masks a first key to form an encoding key in order to prevent detection of the first key. In a specific embodiment, the first key is encoded using a second key. The encoded key is used to encode a configuration bitstream or other data. The encoded key is stored on an FPGA or other device. When the device is to be configured, the encoded key is retrieved and used to decode the bitstream or other data. A further embodiment stores an encryption key in a one-time programmable memory (OTP) array to prevent its erasure or modification. The encoding key may be further obfuscated before storage.

  • Publication number: 20120023082
Abstract: Longest Prefix Match (LPM) is implemented using a binary tree based search algorithm. Masked entries are stored in a plurality of binary search engines, wherein each of the binary search engines stores masked entries of a corresponding mask length. A search value is applied to each of the binary search engines in parallel. The search value is masked within each of the binary search engines, thereby creating a plurality of masked search values, each having a masked length equal to the mask length of the corresponding binary search engine. Each of the masked search values is compared with the masked entries of the corresponding binary search engine. An LPM result is selected from the binary search engine that detects a match, and has the longest corresponding mask length. Alternately, each binary search engine stores masked entries of N mask lengths, and N consecutive comparisons are performed to identify the LPM.

  • Patent number: 7870231
Abstract: A wireless data network delivers packets from a network router to a mobile station so that each application running on the mobile station receives an adequate quality of service (QoS). The mobile station sends configuration messages to the network router containing prioritized filters associated with each application. The router filters incoming IP packets into IP flows having the appropriate QoS for the corresponding application. The configuration messages consume valuable air interface resources. Network resources are conserved by assigning precedence values to filters in such a way that fewer configuration messages are needed to reorder the filters when new filters are added. Precedence values for existing filters are spread out in one portion of the precedence space. When the precedence values in that portion are insufficient to accommodate new filters with the correct priority, both new and existing filters are reassigned precedence values in an unassigned portion of the precedence space.
