  • Patent number: 6366725
Abstract: An optical cable for routing in sewers, with a cable core and a metallic cladding (5) encircling the cable core in which the cable core is composed of several stranding elements (3) which have a sheath (2) in which several optical waveguides (1) are accommodated, wherein each stranding element (3) comprises a bundle of plural optical waveguides (1) running parallel to each other and unstranded or stranded with large pitch, each bundle is encircled by a sheath (2) which fits closely around the bundle, and plural such stranding elements (3) are stranded to the cable core with the cable core being built up exclusively from such bundles.

  • Publication number: 20020034367
Abstract: An optical-fiber cable includes an assembly of buffer tubes including at least two flexible buffer tubes that are held together compactly by adhesion to one another. The cable further includes a plurality of optical fibers, which are housed within the buffer tubes, a jacket surrounding the assembly of buffer tubes, and at least one longitudinal strength member that is provided at the periphery of the assembly of buffer tubes. According to one aspect, the jacket is formed of polyethylene, the buffer tubes are formed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or a thermoplastic elastomer possessing flexible diol segments, and the buffer tubes are contained within the jacket in a helical or SZ stranding configuration. According to a second aspect, a fiber optic buffer tube includes low and high melting point materials forming domains and a matrix, respectively, and preferably further includes a filler. The domains are embedded in the matrix. The latter buffer tubes are bonded together by thermal activation of the domains.

  • Publication number: 20020017748
Abstract: A longitudinal adjusting element has a housing (1) which is filled with a pressurizing medium and in which a piston (12) including a piston rod (16) is guided displaceably. The housing chambers (13,14) which are separated from each other by the piston (12) can be connected with each other or separated from each other with the assistance of a valve device (17). The valve device (17) has at least two overflow ducts (16,40) [sic. (26,40)] which have different throttling effects and which take effect jointly or successively while valve pin (29) is slid in to varying extents.

  • Patent number: 6225329
Abstract: The present invention provides novel compounds of Formula 1, compositions containing these compounds, methods of their use, and methods of their manufacture, where such compounds are pharmacologically useful inhibitors of Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases (PTPase's) such as PTP1B, CD45, SHP-1, SHP-2, PTP&agr;, LAR and HePTP or the like, wherein A, R1, R2, R3, R4, R16 and R17 are as defined in the specification.

  • Patent number: 6181857
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for accessing a fiber from a bundle of fibers disposed in a sheath. The method comprises several steps which include cutting the sheath circumferentially at a leading position as well as circumferentially at a trailing position to divide the sheath into a leading section, a mid-section and a trailing section. The sheath is spread along the axis of the sheath between the leading section and the mid-section to create a first access opening. A fiber to be accessed is cut at the first access opening. The leading section and mid-section are pushed together to close the first access opening. The sheath is spread along the axis of the sheath between the mid-section and the trailing section to create a second access opening wherein the fiber is pulled from the mid-section of the sheath so that it extends out of the second access opening.

  • Patent number: 6059250
Abstract: The invention relates to a tilting device that makes it possible to tilt around at least one axis, with a tilting member, a base member, and an elongated holding device arranged beneath the tilting member. At least two stabilizing members, of rectangular shape, are installed, offset from each other, on the base member. Connecting members between the holding device and the stabilizing members engage the holding device at different heights. During movement of at least one stabilizing member, at least another stabilizing member remains rigidly fixed at one location.

  • Patent number: 5150782
Abstract: Bottles which have a central conical recess and a radially extending groove in their bottom are transported on carriages with a rotary table which carries vertical circumferentially spaced apart shafts 7 through a closed orbital path. A mounting plate 37 fastens to each shaft 7 and has an upwardly extending journal 36 concentric to the shaft. A flange bushing 58 rotates on the journal and sleeve 57 is pressed concentrically on the bushing and roates thereon. The upper end of the sleeve 57 has a truncated conical centering element 22 fastened to it. A bottle support disk 23 has a central hole which is concentric to the conical centering element 22. A frictionally driven wheel 17 is fastened to sleeve 57. A ring plate underneath bottle support ring 23 is fastened to support plate 24 and carries a spring 22 which presses an alignment element 9 upwardly toward the bottom of a bottle on the support ring 23.

  • Patent number: 4277927
Abstract: A spacer for bricks of a facing brickwork placed in front of an inner brickwork, whereby the spacer can be universally used and at the end of the bricklaying work can be removed from the mortar joints of the front of the wall, so that it does not constitute a disposable part and can be reused. Such a spacer includes a unitary body having two contact surfaces in a common plane and below the contact surfaces nominal width stops in two parallel planes perpendicular to the contact surfaces and nominal depth stops are located in two further parallel planes perpendicular both to the plane of the contact surfaces and to the planes of the nominal width stops for adjacent bricks, with the distance between the planes corresponding to the nominal depth of the distance between the facing brickwork and the inner brickwork. The nominal depth stops extending between two adjacent bricks of the facing brickwork on the one hand and the inner brickwork to be faced on the other.
