  • Patent number: 7106594
Abstract: A heat transfer assembly comprising of an electronic component attached to an attachment point located on a circuit board and a clamping mechanism which applies a downward force against a block. In return, the block applies force against a heat transfer device which contacts the electronic component. The interface between the block and the heat transfer device contain a number of tongues and grooves to allow for positive location of the block against the heat transfer device while the clamping mechanism is fastened to the support. The positive location is configured for applying a localized force against a specific area on the electronic component.

  • Patent number: 7008469
Abstract: A portable air filtration system includes a filter housing having an air inlet and outlet. The housing defines a filtration chamber between the inlet and outlet. The air filtration system uses an intake fan, an ionizing mechanism, a filter media, and a conductive coating to filter air. The fan moves the air through the chamber. The ionizing mechanism ionizes particles within the air to a negative charge. The media includes an upstream side facing the inlet and a downstream side facing the outlet and is disposed between the ionizing mechanism and the outlet to entrap the particles. The conductive coating is applied to the upstream side of the media. This establishes an electric field between the ionizing mechanism and the conductive coating. Furthermore, the upstream side of the media is electrically-connected to ground through the conductive coating for dissipating the negative charge of the particles entrapped within the media.

  • Patent number: 6989051
Abstract: A portable air filtration system includes a filter housing having an air inlet and an air outlet. The filter housing defines a filtration chamber between the air inlet and the air outlet. The portable air filtration system uses an ionizing mechanism, a filter media, and an electrode to filter air. The ionizing mechanism ionizes particles within the air to a negative charge. The filter media is disposed between the ionizing mechanism and the air outlet for entrapping the particles. The electrode is disposed between the ionizing mechanism and the filter media to establish an electric field. The electric field is established between the ionizing mechanism and the electrode adjacent to the filter media. The electrode is also electrically-connected to ground and to the filter media for dissipating the negative charge of the particles entrapped within the filter media.

  • Patent number: 6917502
Abstract: An improved circuit supplies electrical power to a vehicle accessory load, such as a load that is powered through a vehicle accessory load connector or cigarette lighter plug. The circuit utilizes battery voltage comparator and timer switching circuitry to interrupt the supply of power to the accessory load if the engine-driven alternator fails to charge the storage battery for at least a predefined time interval (i.e., when the vehicle engine is not running), and to automatically re-establish electrical power supply to the load when battery charging resumes (i.e., when engine operation resumes).

  • Publication number: 20030069528
Abstract: Deep venous thombosis with the attendant risk of pulmonary embolism and post phlebitic syndrome is a frequent complication in older patients who have undergone surgery, suffered trauma or who have serious illness such as malignancy or sepsis. In any category patients who are 40 years of age or older are considered to be at greatest risk. Deep vein thrombi vary from a few millimeters in length to long tubular masses that partially or completely fill the deep main veins of the leg. These thrombi start as small nidi and initially grow in size by deposition of successive red and white layers. The white layers are rich in platelets and neutrophils interspersed with fibrin while the red layers contain most erythrocytes entrapped in fibrin (Hume et al, p. 26-30). Beyond a certain stage of growth venous thrombi become mostly red, resembling clotted blood, i.e., the bulk of a clinically significant thrombus is composed mostly of erythrocytes entrapped in fibrin.

  • Patent number: 6224335
Abstract: An automotive air conditioning assembly has a fan that is molded by a technique that inevitably leaves the lower hub and upper rim radially staggered relative to one another. Therefore, a substantial length of the edges of the blades' bases are unsupported by the incomplete hub, and the air forced radially outwardly between the blades has no fan structure to confine it at that point. The invention provides a fan housing having a wall portion specially shaped so as to provide the air confinement function that the missing section of the fan hub cannot.
