  • Publication number: 20040245687
Abstract: An air spring suspension damper assembly includes a first housing and a second housing which telescope relative to each other. An actuating member such as a cable is connected to a height leveling valve contained in one of the housings and attached to the other housing. The actuating member moves a member such as a rotating cam, a rotating valve plate and/or a rotating valve such that changes in the suspension height rotate the member. Rotation of the member selectively opens inlet and exhaust flow paths to control the air pressure in the damper assembly and maintain air suspension height at a predetermined height.

  • Publication number: 20040107976
Abstract: This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 60/402,897, filed Aug. 13, 2002. A foot and toe scrubber has an elongated handle and an elliptical, conical, rectangular, squarish or cylindrical scrubbing element attached at one end of the handle. The scrubbing element is an elliptical, conical, rectangular, squarish or cylindrical foam or sponge material having a plurality of grooves and/or cells providing an overall uneven, irregular surface. The foot and toe scrubber is configured so that the scrubbing element can be applied and moved between and about the toes, as well as other areas of the feet. Application of the scrubber head to, between, around and about the toes and otherwise on the feet is to clean between the toes and other areas of the feet.

  • Publication number: 20030172924
Abstract: A multiple dose delivery device for delivering a medicament into an oral cavity of a patient is provided. The device includes a sachet pack including a plurality of unit doses of a medicament enclosed between a first strip and a second strip. The device further includes a sachet advance mechanism and a mouthpiece. Upon actuation by a user, the sachet advance mechanism, which is engaged with the sachet pack, separates the first strip from the second strip to release one of the plurality of the unit doses from the sachet pack. The mouthpiece includes an opening, and each released unit dose passes through the opening.

  • Patent number: 6102272
Abstract: The reciprocally movable parts of a friction welding apparatus for performing a linear bonding process are connected to a rocking member arrangement including a torsion bar arrangement the elastic properties of which are used to store and return energy alternately to the reciprocating system in succeeding half cycles of the linear reciprocal movement. The total work input required from the oscillator driving the welding apparatus, once the system is set in motion, is thus reduced to the work needed to produce the friction bond and to overcome the internal friction of the machine. In a preferred arrangement the reciprocating parts, including the welding tooling, are dynamically balanced by two counterbalance weights spaced symmetrically about a centreline of the apparatus, and each counterweight is coupled through a respective torsion bar mounted rocking member to the reciprocating parts.

  • Patent number: 6003752
Abstract: A linear friction welding oscillator consists of a plurality of individual linear oscillators which are ganged together so as to operate in unison. The total force exerted by the composite oscillator is thus the sum of the output forces of the individual oscillators. The individual oscillators produce variable amplitude, linear reciprocation of an output ram by converting rotary motion into linear motion using conversion/coupling means such as a swash plate connected by a bending elements to drive a crank. Each of the individual oscillator cranks is rotatably engaged with the output ram so as to transmit to it axial, reciprocal movement due to the angular alignment of the swash plate axis with the ram. All of the individual oscillators are mounted in a common frame in which they can be swung in unison so as to vary and control their individual movements in synchronism.

  • Patent number: 5848388
Abstract: A recognition system includes a speech recognition processing unit for processing input speech signals to indicate similarity to predetermined patterns to be recognized. The recognition processing unit is arranged to repeatedly partition the input speech signal into a pattern-containing portion and, preceding and following the pattern-containing portions, noise or silence portions, and to identify a pattern corresponding to the pattern containing portion. An output supplies a recognition signal indicating recognition of one of the patterns. A pause detector detects the noise or silence portion which follows the pattern-containing portion. In response to its detection, a signal identifying the pattern currently corresponding to the pattern portion is supplied to the output. Also provided are similarly operating rejection portions.
