  • Patent number: 9177122
Abstract: Techniques for managing secure data transfer, including firmware updates and/or cryptographic keys, may be provided. For example, a portable device may be provided that includes at least a first memory configured to store data associated with secure firmware updates while the device is interacting with a second device. In some examples, a network connection with a third device may be established. The data associated with the firmware update may be received from the third device by utilizing the established network connection. Further, in some examples, the received data may be stored in the first memory only while the first device is interacting with the second device. The portable device may also enable a firmware update of the second device based at least in part on the data stored in the first memory.

  • Patent number: 9128116
Abstract: The axes of an accelerometer, installed in a vehicle at an arbitrary orientation, may be realigned to the coordinate frame of the vehicle. In one implementation, a method may include determining, based on acceleration measurements from the accelerometer that likely corresponds to stopping, a dominant orientation of the accelerometer in relation to gravity, including calculating a first transformation angle and a second transformation angle as parameters to perform coordinate realignment of a coordinate frame of the accelerometer to a coordinate frame of the vehicle. The method may further include identifying, based on the acceleration measurements, an occurrence of acceleration events of the vehicle; determining, based on an analysis of the acceleration events, a third transformation angle; and storing the first, second, and third transformation angles.

  • Patent number: 9100408
Abstract: A technique is described allowing an IMS enabled network to terminate a communication request directed towards a user device in a well-defined way, even for cases in which multiple registrations for IMS are present that are related to the same physical user device. A method embodiment of this technique comprises registering multiple user agents for one and the same user device, wherein from each user agent contact information including a device ID identifying the user device is provided; and processing a communication request directed towards the user device, the processing comprising identifying multiple identical device IDs of registered contacts, and treating the communication request according to a predetermined handling scheme related to the detection of identical device IDs.

  • Publication number: 20150213555
Abstract: A system may determine driving information associated with a group of users, the driving information may be based on sensor information collected by at least two of a group of user devices, a first group of vehicle devices connected to a corresponding group of vehicles associated with the group of users, or a group of second vehicle devices installed in the corresponding group of vehicles. The system may determine non-driving information associated with the group of users. The system may create a driver behavior prediction model based on the driving information and the non-driving information, and may store the driver behavior prediction model. The driver behavior prediction model may permit a driver prediction to be made regarding a particular user (e.g., a user that is not necessarily included in the group of users). The driver behavior prediction may be associated with a particular geographic location.

  • Patent number: 9083534
Abstract: A method and system for securely propagating client identities in a service call from a first system to a target service system are provided. The system includes a memory device for storing data and a service provider (SP) computer system. The SP computer system is programmed to determine identities to transmit to the target system in association with a request, construct a data structure to represent each identity and additional information related to the identity, digitally sign the identity information, pair the identity information and the corresponding digital signature in a header of a request message from the first system to the target service system, receive the request message and extract the identity information and corresponding digital signatures from the header, validate the corresponding digital signatures, and construct using the corresponding identity information a data structure that represents each of the original identities established in the first system.

  • Publication number: 20150176989
Abstract: The embodiments disclosed are directed to systems and methods for determining the inclination of a surface beneath a vehicle. In some embodiments, a method uses an accelerometer to determine a final surface inclination value. The final surface inclination value can then be used to compensate for the acceleration of the vehicle caused by gravity. The method includes receiving accelerometer values from the accelerometer. The method also includes determining surface inclination values based on the accelerometer values. The method further includes storing the surface inclination values. And the method includes applying a digital filter to the stored surface inclination values to determine a final surface inclination value.

  • Publication number: 20150061863
Abstract: Techniques described herein relate to the classification of fall events for PER (personal emergency response) devices. In one implementation, data relating to acceleration events that occurred at the PER devices may be received. The data relating to the acceleration events may be associated with indications of whether the acceleration events correspond to fall events of users of the PER devices. A classification model may be trained based on the data relating to the acceleration events and the indications of whether the data relating to the acceleration events corresponds to the fall events. The classification model may be transmitted to at least some of the PER devices to update a previous version of the classification model at the at least some of the PER devices.

  • Publication number: 20150016003
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to clamp overvoltages for inductive power transfer systems are described herein. An example overvoltage protection circuit is described, including a first terminal configured to receive an alternating current signal for conversion to a second signal, a capacitor, a first switch configured to selectively electrically couple the capacitor to the first terminal based on an overvoltage detection signal to reduce an overvoltage on the second signal, and an overvoltage detector. The example overvoltage detector is configured to determine a signal level of the second signal and, in response to determining that the signal level of the second signal is greater than a threshold, to output the overvoltage detection signal to cause the switch to electrically couple the capacitor between the first terminal and a second terminal.

  • Publication number: 20140304790
Abstract: Digital content distribution systems and methods are provided for distributing for digital data files, such as digital audio and video data files. In accordance with one implementation, a token-based authentication system is provided that does not require knowledge of the individual user requesting the download of digital content data or real-time access to user account information. Instead, the token-based authentication system embeds the authentication information, or token, in the download request information itself. In this way, the download or content server authenticates the download request using the token contained in the download request information and therefore does not require any additional information to carry out this authentication, such as access to user account information.
