  • Publication number: 20060200653
Abstract: Within a multiple instruction pipeline data processing system which supports predication instructions, program instructions are initially decoded upon the assumption that they are predicated. A predication signal is generated within the instruction decoder stages when a predication instruction is detected. The presence or absence of this predication signal can then be used to correct any decoding which has been performed upon the basis of an assumption that the program instructions are predicated. The predication instruction can predicate a variable number of following instructions. The predication instruction can issue in parallel with an instruction which it predicates and yet the proper identification of the predication instruction need not be confirmed until at least some decoding has been performed upon the other program instruction.

  • Publication number: 20050280871
Abstract: A dither matrix is applied to a high-resolution image to compare the value of each of the pixels that compose it with a threshold value of the matrix and to obtain an output value of the matrix (Dither matrix value) from each comparison. To each pixel value of the image there is applied an algorithm involving simple but displacement operation, namely shifts to the left and shifts to the right. The pixel values of a low-resolution image are output from the applied algorithm.

  • Publication number: 20050126777
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for measuring solids in wellbore that include a bottom hole assembly having a sensor to measuring a characteristic indicative of solids in the wellbore. The measurement may be used to measure solids or solids suspended in fluid flow. The invention is useful for use in wellbore cleanouts. A computer model may be used and updated based on the measured characteristic. The input of measured characteristic and the updating of the computer model may be performed in real time whilst the wellbore cleanout operation is ongoing.

  • Publication number: 20050113540
Abstract: A polymer comprises a repeating unit of ethylene and vinyl alcohol, characterized by a linear backbone with substantial absence of branching on the backbone. The polymer has a steady state oxygen permeability coefficient substantially independent of the humidity. In addition, a polymer comprises a repeating unit of ethylene and vinyl acetate, characterized by a linear backbone with substantial absence of branching on the backbone and a plurality of acetate groups bonded to the backbone. Some polymers comprise vinyl alcohol or acetate groups that arm separated by x-2, x-1 or x carbon atoms, and such groups are present in a ratio of 1:2:1, wherein x ranges integrally from 3 to 12.

  • Publication number: 20050105102
Abstract: A method of calibrating a positioning stage includes placing a substrate on the positioning stage. The substrate has a contrast film above a portion of the substrate. At least one pattern is at a predetermined location above the substrate, corresponding to a predetermined location on the positioning stage if the positioning stage has zero offset from a registration position. A beam is applied to a position where the pattern on the substrate would be located if the positioning stage has zero offset. At least one of the group consisting of reflected, transmitted and scattered portions of the beam is measured. Whether the positioning stage has a non-zero offset is detected based on the measured portion of the beam.

  • Patent number: 6775256
Abstract: This invention relates to a packet scheduler and method therefor and in particular a scheduler for a Code Division Multiple Access cellular mobile communication system. In packet base systems it is important to schedule transmissions of packets carefully in order to maximize the capacity of the system. The scheduler has a selection unit (233) for selecting a candidate set of packets. The candidate set is fed to a processor (235) for calculating transmit powers required by remote terminals to transmit the packets based on the candidate set. The calculated transmit powers are fed to a controller (237) for modifying the candidate set in response to the calculated transmit powers and the modified set is fed to a scheduler unit (239) for scheduling the packets of the candidate set for transmission. The scheduler is in particular appropriate for third generation mobile communication systems.

  • Patent number: 5725197
Abstract: A mains pressure valve including a main chamber having an inlet chamber for fluid and an outlet for fluid, a non-return valve located downstream of the outlet and adapted to provide resistance to fluid flowing therethrough, a piston located in the main chamber which is movable into and out of sealing engagement with the outlet of the main chamber and which defines above it an upper portion of the main chamber and having an internal passageway which communicates between the upper portion of the main chamber and the inlet, a port in the upper portion which permits fluid to flow therethrough, and actuation control associated with the port to regulate the flow of fluid through the port. Upon actuation, fluid in the upper portion drains through the port, allowing the piston to rise and mains pressure fluid passes from the inlet chamber through main chamber and out discharge chamber.

  • Patent number: 4682628
Abstract: A sensing and valve operating mechanism for remotely controlling a faucet can be used with an anti-scald faucet valve and can be provided on a faucet by a kit. The mechanism senses the presence of an object near a faucet outlet, energizes a solenoid in response to the presence of an object, and calculates the time when the solenoid is energized. Energy is removed from the solenoid after a predetermined time interval notwithstanding that the presence of an object is still being sensed. The solenoid cannot be re-energized until after the object is removed from near the faucet outlet.

  • Patent number: 4622861
Abstract: An actuator mechanism, particularly for a potentiometer, comprises a mounting frame defining an interior space. An elongate rotary shaft traverses that space. A lever arm is secured to the shaft and extends radially away from the longitudinal axis of the shaft within the space defined by the mounting frame. The mounting frame has two substantially parallel surfaces that confront the lever arm, and respective friction assemblies are interposed between the lever arm and those two surfaces respectively. Each friction assembly comprises a body of friction material engaging one of the two parallel surfaces, and a compression spring that urges the body of friction material against that surface. The body of friction material and the spring are maintained captive between the lever arm and the surface of the frame that is engaged by the body of friction material.
