  • Patent number: 10257310
Abstract: Cloud-aware industrial devices feed robust sets of data to a cloud-based data analyzer that executes as a service in a cloud platform. In addition to industrial data generated or collected by the industrial devices, the devices can provide device profile information to the cloud-based analyzer that identifies the device and relevant configuration information. The industrial devices can also provide customer data identifying an owner of the industrial devices, contact information for the owner, active service contracts, etc. The cloud-based data analyzer leverages this information to perform a variety of custom analytics on the data and generate reports or notifications catered to the particular industrial assets' optimal performance and business goals of the owner's industrial enterprise, as well as perform real-time decision making and control.

  • Patent number: 10217013
Abstract: This invention relates to a system and method for detecting the curved surfaces of fruit using a flash and camera system and automated image analysis. Lighting upon fruit is controlled, with a flash or multiple flashes positioned beside the camera illuminate the fruit. The flash causes a strong specular reflectance at the center of curved fruit (such as apples, grapes, or avocados, among others). From this point of specular reflectance, pixel intensity decreases steadily toward the edges of curved fruit. The method searches the images to find points of specular reflectance surrounded by curved shaded regions belonging to the curved fruit and can detect fruit of various sizes and scales within image.

  • Publication number: 20180364546
Abstract: Described are systems and methods for surveying a destination as an unmanned aerial vehicle (“UAV”) descends toward the destination. To confirm that the destination is clear of objects and includes a safe landing or delivery location, such as a substantially planar surface, the UAV may capture and process images at different altitudes during the descent. Feature points of a first image captured at a first altitude may be paired with feature points of a second image captured at a second, different altitude. A homography may be computed to confirm that the paired feature points lie in the same plane and then the two images may be registered based on the paired feature points. The registered images may then be processed to determine depth information and determine if descent of the UAV is to continue or be aborted.

  • Patent number: 10139892
Abstract: Power conservation for devices is facilitated based on likelihood of power usage level. An example method can comprise determining, by a first device comprising a processor, that a second device is within a defined proximity of a third device, wherein the third device is determined to be operating in a mode according to a first power consumption operation that satisfies a defined condition, and wherein the operating in the mode according to the first power consumption operation is based on the third device being located at a defined location. The method can also comprise facilitating, by the first device, modification of the mode of the third device based on a determination of a likelihood of usage of a second power consumption operation by the third device. In various embodiments, the third device is configured to operate according to the power save mode or the extended discontinuous reception mode.
