  • Patent number: 10473107
Abstract: The ideal design for a fan with variable performance that can replace a family of current axial flow ducted, un-ducted, and centrifugal fan designs by meeting air flow and pressure requirements while drawing less electric current to rotate and thus produce the required flow not only would reduce cost of operation over the life of the fan but opens new possibilities for direct connection to solar collection systems by greatly extending the life of the battery charge employed by the designer of the collection system. In addition the entry of flying machines using pairs of lifting fans such as hover bikes and quadcopters, manned or unmanned is driving a need to re-examine the application of force applied to rotate these fans to achieve a reduction in aircraft weight and increase flying time for a given battery charge or load of fuel.

  • Patent number: 10448195
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter provides for traffic analysis employing timed fingerprint location information. In an aspect, TFL information can be associated with location characteristics for a UE. These location characteristics can describe the motion of the UE. As such, with proper analysis, the motion of the UE can be correlated to traffic patterns. Transportation analytics can employ TFL information to provide real time or near real time traffic information, forecast traffic conditions, or automate response to traffic conditions based on TFL information. Whereas TFL can provide advantages over other types of location information systems, leveraging TFL information in traffic analysis can reflect these advantages. Further, whereas TFL information can be gathered from nearly all modern and many legacy mobile devices, large volumes of TFL information can be employed in related transportation analytics.

  • Patent number: 10433794
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea, includes a housing insertable into an ear canal of a subject. A sensor disposed within the housing measures a position of the subject's head relative to an axis of gravity. A transducer is responsive to the sensor and is capable of creating a stimulus detectable by the subject under certain conditions. In various embodiments, a controller receives signals corresponding to a pitch angle and a roll angle of the subject's head measured by the sensor, determines if the pitch and roll angles correspond to a sleep apnea inducing position, and causes the transducer to generate a stimulus upon determining that the subject's head is in the sleep apnea inducing position more than a predetermined threshold number of times. Various parameters of the stimulus may be modified with successive stimulus generation until a non-sleep apnea inducing position is detected.

  • Publication number: 20190284564
Abstract: Nonnaturally occurring host cells altered to increase their ability to transfer genetic molecules into the host cells as compared to an unaltered host cell are provided. Also provided are methods for identifying endogenous loci of a host cell which inhibit transformation efficiency and/or electroporation of genetic molecules into the cell as well as methods for producing nonnaturally occurring host cells with enhanced transformation efficiency and/or the modified ability to allow for genomic integration of an exogenous DNA sequence via electroporation. Methods for producing biochemicals and products produced with the nonnaturally occurring host cells are also provided. In particular, a host Cupriavidus necator cell is provided in which a chromosomal gene encoding a restriction endonuclease has been disrupted, leading to an increase in transformation efficiency.
