  • Publication number: 20170314043
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to viral-based expression systems suitable for the production of molecule of interests in recombinant host cells. The disclosure particularly relates to nucleic acid constructs, such as expression vectors, containing a modified arterivirus genome or replicon RNA in which at least some of its original viral sequence has been deleted. Also included in the disclosure are viral-based expression vectors including one or more expression cassettes encoding heterologous polypeptides. In some embodiments, the expression cassettes are configured and positioned at defined locations on the viral genome so as to enable expression of the heterologous polypeptides in a tunable manner.

  • Publication number: 20170090025
Abstract: A method of localising one or more scattering elements in a 3D environment, comprising (i) receiving, at an array of antennas, a signal sent from a transmitter and scattered towards the array by one or more scattering elements in the environment, (ii) modelling the signal as detected at each one of the antennas as a sum of individual signals scattered by the respective scattering elements, and (iii) collectively analysing the signals detected at each one of the antennas to identify the number and location(s) of the one or more scattering elements in the environment.

  • Publication number: 20160227483
Abstract: In an embodiment a wireless device comprises a plurality of power amplifiers operable to generate signals for transmission over different frequency channels of a wireless network; an antenna system coupled to the plurality of power amplifiers configured to transmit the signals generated by the power amplifiers; a battery configured to store energy and to supply electrical energy to the plurality of power amplifiers; an energy harvesting unit configured to harvest energy from the environment surrounding the wireless device and transfer the harvested energy to the battery; a management unit configured to determine spectrum status information of the wireless network, select one or more channels of the wireless network, and determine the output power of the power amplifiers; and a configuration unit configured to control the efficiency and output power of each of the power amplifiers.

  • Publication number: 20160056767
Abstract: An amplifier device comprises two modes of operation. In a first mode, the amplifier device operates in a wideband mode, whereas in a second mode the amplifier operates in a narrowband mode. Switching in the amplifier device provides antenna selection, in either mode. Control of mode and antenna selection is carried out with reference to a probability based optimisation, as to whether changing mode and/or antenna selection will improve efficiency. By that, the energy consumption associated with switching can be accommodated in the optimisation, thereby offering an improvement to efficiency.

  • Patent number: 9198163
Abstract: A system comprising a source node (11) and a relay node (15a, 15b 15c). The relay node senses a radio spectrum to provide first sensing data indicating the availability of a signal channel at the relay node. The source node senses the radio spectrum to provide second sensing data indicating the availability of the signal channel at the source node. The source node or relay node generates a channel availability parameter based on the first or second sensing data, respectively. The channel availability parameter comprises fewer bits of information than whichever of the first or second sensing data is used to generate the channel availability parameter. The source node determines whether to send message information to the relay node based on a sensing result obtained by combining the channel availability parameter with whichever one of the first and second sensing data is not used to generate the channel availability parameter.
