  • Patent number: 10097822
Abstract: An apparatus generates an image signal in which pixels are encoded in N-bit words which encode at least a luma per pixel. A receiver (201) obtains high dynamic range pixel values in accordance with a first color representation in M-bitwords. A first generator (203) includes the high dynamic range pixel values in the image signal in the N-bit words according to a second color representation. A second generator (205) includes in the image signal an indicator that high dynamic range pixel values are encoded. In some examples, the high dynamic range pixel values may be provided in a segment that can alternatively contain high or low dynamic range pixel values, and the indicator may indicate which type of data is included. The approach may e.g. facilitate introduction of high dynamic range capability into e.g. HDMI systems.

  • Patent number: 10029713
Abstract: A prolonged release system having a locking member pivotally mounted on a post within a hand brake and having an arm that contacts a clutch assembly to prevent the clutch assembly of the handbrake from engaging after it has been manually released. Rotation of the hand brake wheel causes a pawl on a ratchet gear to move into contact with a cam of the locking member so that the arm of the locking member moves out of contact with the clutch assembly. By maintaining the clutch assembly in a released position, the prolonged release system ensures that the brake chain drum is decoupled from the driveshaft of the hand brake and prevents the inadvertent application of the brakes. When a user turns the hand brake wheel, the locking member is disengaged from the clutch assembly and the hand brake can be set by a user.

  • Patent number: 10021377
Abstract: A three dimensional [3D] video signal (41) is provided for transferring to a 3D destination device (50). Depth metadata is determined indicative of depths occurring in the 3D video data, which depth metadata includes a near value indicative of depths of video data nearest to a user. The 3D video signal, which comprises the 3D video data, now also includes the depth metadata. The 3D destination device (50) is enabled to retrieve the depth metadata, to provide auxiliary data, and to position the auxiliary data at an auxiliary depth in dependence of the retrieved metadata for displaying the auxiliary data in combination with the 3D video data such that obscuring the auxiliary data by said nearest video data, and/or disturbing effects at the boundary of the auxiliary data, is avoided.

  • Publication number: 20180176538
Abstract: A three dimensional [3D] video signal is processed in a video device (50). The device has generating means (52) for generating an output signal for transferring the video data via a high-speed digital interface like HDMI to a 3D display, which selectively generate a 3D display signal for displaying the 3D video data on a 3D display operative in a 3D mode, a 2D display signal for displaying 2D video data on the 3D display operative in a 2D mode, or a pseudo 2D display signal by including 2D video data in the output signal for displaying the 2D video data on the 3D display operative in the 3D mode. Processing means (53) detect a request to display 2D video data on the 3D display, while the 3D display is operative in the 3D mode, and, in response to the detection, the generating means are set to generate the pseudo 2D display signal for maintaining the 3D mode of the 3D display.

  • Publication number: 20180176537
Abstract: A device and method process graphics to be overlayed over video for three-dimensional display. The video includes a series of video frames updated at a video rate, including main video frames and additional video frames. A first buffer buffers a first part of the overlay information to be overlayed over the main video frames. A second buffer buffers a second part of the overlay information to be overlayed over the additional video frames. For each video frame, the first part of the overlay information or the second part of the overlay information is copied to a frame-accurate area copier. The first part of the overlay information or the second part of the overlay information is output according to whether a current video frame is a main video frame or an additional video frame. The first part of the overlay information and the second part of the overlay information are updated at an overlay rate. The overlay rate is different than the video rate.

  • Patent number: 9999117
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for lighting control. For example, a user may commission a touch-controlled luminaire (106) to emit light output having various lighting properties dependent on a manner in which the touch-controlled luminaire is touched subsequently. In particular, a user may use an electronic mobile device (102) such as a smart phone, tablet computer, or a wearable computing device (e.g., computing glasses, smart watches) to associate a touch event profile indicative of a manner in which a touch-controlled luminaire was touched (e.g., tapped, swiped, etc.) with a lighting control action. The user may then provide that association to the touch-controlled luminaire. When the touch-controlled luminaire is later touched in the same manner, it may adjust its light output in accordance with the lighting control action. Operation and commission of gesture-controlled luminaires (706) is also described herein.
