  • Publication number: 20200082237
Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) automatic vehicle identification (AVI) system configured to mitigate signal interference, the system comprising a plurality of RFID readers, comprising a first RFID reader and a second RFID reader; and a plurality of antennas, wherein a first antenna is connected to the first RFID reader and a second antenna is connected to the second RFID reader. Prior to the first RFID reader transmitting a signal through the first antenna, the first RFID reader samples a received radio frequency (RF) signal from the first antenna, and if the received RF signal meets predetermined strength and frequency criteria, the first RFID reader inhibits transmission of the signal through the first antenna.

  • Publication number: 20200081857
Abstract: In one embodiment, a data message is generated at a first system-on-chip (SOC) for transmission to a second SOC. A stream of data words is generated from the data message, the data words alternating between even and odd data words. Each data word in the stream of data words is divided into a first pattern of slices for even data words and a second pattern of slices for odd data words, with the slices distributed across plural output ports at the first SOC. At each output port, two slices from two successive cycles are grouped. The grouped slices are encoded using an encoding scheme to produce an N-bit symbol at M-bits per cycle, alternating between high and low parts of the encoding. Plural metaframes are generated from a stream of symbols and the metaframes for each of the output ports are transmitted to the second SOC.

  • Publication number: 20200080939
Abstract: An apparatus for the high throughput measurement of optical properties of liquid samples placed into the wells of a multiwell plate is disclosed. An optical fiber within a fiber bundle containing no corrective optics between the fiber ends and the well plate bottom illuminates the sample in order to induce fluorescence, and multiple fibers collect emission radiation and transmit it to a fluorescence detector such as a spectrometer. Other embodiments involve a light scattering illumination source with detection fibers located in either the same bundle containing the fluorescence monitoring fibers or an independent light scattering detection bundle for the measurement of static and/or dynamic light scattering. Some embodiments of the invention permit the measurement of phase analysis light scattering. Thus the measurement of multiple optical properties of a liquid sample may be made simultaneously or in succession. A method for these measurements is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10584518
Abstract: An automatic alarm system for a vehicle includes a sensor adapted to detect electromagnetic data, a computer system, and an automatic alarm mechanism. The computer system receives data from the sensor. A computer process analyzes the data from the sensor to determine whether a pattern from the electromagnetic data has been detected, accesses a library of known patterns of electromagnetic data emitted by emergency vehicles, and compares the pattern of electromagnetic data detected by the sensor with the known patterns of electromagnetic data emitted by emergency vehicles that are stored in the library. The automatic alarm mechanism activates in response to the processor determining that the comparison matches a known pattern of electromagnetic data for an emergency vehicle resulting in the computer processor sending a first signal to activate an alarm.

  • Patent number: 10575531
Abstract: Visually distinct, flaked Ready-to-Eat cereal products with varied texture and thickness are produced by forming a cereal dough and forcing the same through an extrusion die assembly including various spaced openings which establish a plurality of dough streams which are merged prior to reaching a die outlet. Directly at the die outlet, a resulting dough extrudate is sliced by a cutter unit to form dough discs which are then dried and cooled, during which the discs curl and form cereal flakes having varying textures defined, at least in part, by distinct sets of surface bumps. The number and configuration of the bumps can be altered by changing the number, shape and/or position of the various spaced openings of the die assembly, while the thickness of the resulting cereal flakes can be varied by just altering an operational speed of the cutter unit.
