  • Patent number: 9835806
Abstract: A fiber optic ferrule includes a body extending from a first end to a second opposite end, with the body including an axial passage extending between the first and the second ends. The axial passage includes a first diameter portion having a diameter of at least 125 microns, a second diameter portion having a diameter of at least 250 microns and less than a diameter of a buffer, and a smooth and continuous transition between the first and the second diameter portions. The second diameter portion is positioned between the first diameter portion and the second end. The axial passage further defines a tapered shape at the second end extending inward from the second end toward the second diameter portion. In certain embodiments, another smooth and continuous transition can be provided between the taper shape and the second diameter portion. In certain embodiments, the axial passage is smooth and continuous between the first and the second ends of the body. A hub holds the ferrule.

  • Patent number: 9836760
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for determining user journeys during presentations of content. The system first determines an average time spent for sessions associated with a presentation of content. Next, the system identifies a representative group of sessions from the sessions by identifying each of the sessions having a respective time spent within a statistical range from the average time spent for the sessions. The system then determines a most common path of events from the representative group of sessions to yield a most common user journey associated with the presentation of content.

  • Patent number: 9823638
Abstract: A variable resistance brake clutch facilitates a rotational coupling of electronic device components, and can include a rotatable shaft, a brake disposed proximate the rotatable shaft, and an actuator coupled to and configured to actuate the brake. The brake applies a braking force against a rotational motion of the shaft, and release of the brake results in low to no frictional resistance against the rotational motion. The braking force can be provided by default, and a capacitive touch sensor or other input component can allow a user to actuate the actuator manually to release the brake when desired. The release can be maintained as long as the sensor detects the touch event or other user input. A processor and solenoid can facilitate actuation by on a touch event, which sensor can be located at a back corner of a laptop upper component.

  • Patent number: 9824058
Abstract: A group of low-level FIFOs may be logically bound together to form a super-FIFO. The super-FIFO may treat each low-level FIFO as a storage location. The super-FIFO may enable a push to (or a pop from) every low-level FIFO, simultaneously. The super-FIFO may enable a virtual channel (VC) to use the super-FIFO, bypassing a VC FIFO for the VC, removing several cycles of latency otherwise needed for enqueuing and dequeuing messages in the VC FIFO. In addition, the super-FIFO may enable bypassing of an arbiter, further reducing latency by avoiding a penalty of the arbiter.

  • Patent number: 9816574
Abstract: A system and method are provided for mounting, removing and retaining brake pads in disc brakes, such as air-operated disc brakes utilized on commercial vehicles, in a manner which does not require the use of separate brake pad retaining devices while providing positive retention of the brake pad. A preferred embodiment includes a brake caliper mount having brake pad abutment surfaces having radially-oriented and lateral grooves which permit a brake pad with corresponding projections on is lateral sides to be inserted through an opening of the brake caliper into the radially-oriented grooves until the backing plate projections are aligned with the lateral groove, and advancing the brake actuator behind the brake pad to place the brake pad in an operating position in which the actuator prevents the brake pad from realigning with the radially-oriented grooves until the actuator is retracted to permit brake pad extraction.

  • Publication number: 20170322109
Abstract: An apparatus and method for inducing multiaxial vibrations to simulate an environment for transporting a stack of products is provided. A lower platform is provided for inducing uniaxial vibrations. A link is connected to the lower platform by a lower end of the link. The upper end of the link has a universal joint, through which the link is connected to an upper platform. The upper platform has a top surface, on which the stack of products can be placed. In operations, the uniaxial vibrations of the lower platform are transferred to the upper platform through the link and the universal joint, to induce pivotal movement of the upper platform with respect to the shaft of the link. As a result, multiaxial vibrations can be induced to the stack of products placed on the top surface of the upper platform.
