  • Patent number: 6479307
Abstract: A method of monitoring loss of silicon nitride, used to monitor the loss of a first etch stop layer below a first insulating layer in a first contact opening opening after the first contact opening is formed in the first insulating layer over a device region and scribe line of a wafer. A dummy wafer is provided on which stacks in sequence a second etch stop layer and a second insulating layer. The second insulating layer is patterned by removing a portion of the second insulating layer, so that a monitoring opening that exposes the second etch stop layer and a second contact opening are formed in the second insulating layer. A first measuring step is performed to measure a first thickness loss and a second thickness loss from the second etch stop layer exposed respectively by the monitoring opening and the second contact opening on the dummy wafer. And a correlation is established from the first and second thickness losses.

  • Publication number: 20020150150
Abstract: A terrestrial C/A code GPS receiver system digitally samples, filters and stores a segment of 11 half chips of the received composite as a binary number and multiplexes this number for parallel correlation with each of a series of multibit code replicas for the satellites to be tracked. Each of the time delay specific correlation products are accumulated in a cell of a memory matrix so that at least twenty two delays for each satellite may be evaluated each code period providing fast reacquisition, even within a city intersection, as well as correction of multipath tracking and multipath interference. All cells of the memory matrix may be used for an acquisition of a single satellite in about 4 ms. Two satellite tracking, in addition to altitude hold, uses cross track hold alternating with clock hold to update the cross track estimate. Single satellite tracking uses cross track and clock hold together. Navigation data is updated with detected changes in motion including turns.

  • Patent number: 6427539
Abstract: A reliable sensor provides a user-friendly semiconductor sensing device and transducer which accurately detects the characteristics of a fluid, such as pressure and strain, at high temperature operating conditions. The high performance sensor is particularly useful for use with diesel engines and internal combustion engines in vehicles. The sensor can comprise a single die with a transverse strain gauge or a group of strain gauges which are located at a position on the die to help minimize electric effects of thermal stress on the gauges during pressure detection and operation of the vehicle. The die can be glass fused, such as by glass frit, to a diaphragm, such as a stainless steel diaphragm, so as not to readily corrode in the fluid.

  • Patent number: 6041280
Abstract: A GPS car navigation system derives GPS position update information from motion of the car along the actual track. Turns along the track are detected when they actually occur and are compared with the predicted turns so that the time and position at the actual turn can be used to update the then current GPS derived position of the vehicle. Updating position information with actual turn data improves the accuracy of GPS navigation especially during single satellite navigation.

  • Patent number: 5901171
Abstract: A GPS car navigation system permits single satellite navigation by representing the x and y unknowns with on-track and cross track vectors and estimating the z and t unknowns. An estimate of the y unknown, representing the maximum width of the track or roadway, is thereby combined with altitude and clock hold estimates to derive GPS position information along the predicted track. Turns along the track are detected when they actually occur and are compared with the predicted turns so that the time and position at the actual turn can be used to update the then current GPS derived position of the vehicle. Updating position information with actual turn data improves the accuracy of GPS navigation especially when using single satellite navigation.

  • Patent number: 5897605
Abstract: A spread spectrum receiver, such as a GPS car navigation system, uses multiple, parallel correlations of data in a wide capture window, permits seamless tracking and rapid reacquisition of satellite signals at speeds sufficient to permit position information updates during momentary views available of satellites in intersections. The received data is processed in 11 bit samples, for a total of 186 time segments per 1 msec code period, which are each Doppler shifted and multiplexed into 12 channels. The code correlations are performed 22 times per channel by shifting the 11 bit locally generated code by one bit each correlation. The chip rate of the incoming data is 2f.sub.0 and the correlations are performed at 48f.sub.0 providing a time magnification advantage of 24.

  • Patent number: 5796074
Abstract: A wafer heater assembly (8) for a deposition/etch chamber (2) includes a base (32) and a wafer support or chuck (36), having a wafer-chucking surface (76), spaced apart from the base by a circumferential barrier support (38). A heater sub-assembly (54) is mounted to the wafer support. Bolts (48) are used to secure the wafer support to the base with the barrier support therebetween to press the barrier support against an elastomeric O-ring, a metal V-seal or other fluid seal (46) positioned between the base and base end (42) of the barrier support. This eliminates the need to discard the entire heater assembly if the dielectric wafer-chucking surface becomes damaged. The temperature of the fluid seal is about 50.degree.-70.degree. C. lower than the temperature of the wafer-chucking surface when the wafer-chucking surface is about 200.degree.-300.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5744725
Abstract: A capacitive pressure sensor and method of fabricating the sensor includes providing a layered structure including a second silicon layer (115), a second insulating layer (203, 205) in contact with the second silicon layer (115), a first silicon layer (123) in contact with the second insulating layer (203, 205), a first insulating layer (201) in contact with the first silicon layer (123), and a mask layer (221) in contact with the first insulating layer (201). A major exposed surface (220) of the second silicon layer (115) is provided by mechanically reducing a thickness (210) of the second silicon layer (115) to a predetermined thickness (116).
