Patent number: 9297198Abstract: A fire resistant shutter is provided including a first panel including wood and a second panel including a cementitious material located adjacent to the first panel. The fire resistant shutter further includes a hasp attached to the second panel and configured to be attached to a building structure with a detachable connector, and a pin including wax disposed in an aperture defined by the hasp. The pin prevents the hasp from opening. When the fire resistant shutter is attached to a building structure, heat from an approaching fire at least partially melts the pin, which opens the hasp, detaches the connector, and allows the shutter to drop. The deployed shutter provides fire resistance to the building structure, such as at a window.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2014Date of Patent: March 29, 2016Inventors: Ryan Nicholas Malvey, Samuel Joseph Ruzynski, Samuel Brott Kalkman, Evin Daniel Sougstad, Liam Olaf Flanary, Nicholas Lee Ruzynski, Megan Wolgamot Malvey, Mindy Lynn Ruzynski, Steven Frederick Wolgamot

Publication number: 20160045165Abstract: Prosthetic heart devices may be implanted into the heart with a sensor coupled to the device, the sensor being configured to measure physiological data, such as blood pressure, in the heart. Devices that may employ such sensors include prosthetic heart valves and occlusion devices, although sensor systems may be deployed in the heart separate from other implantable devices. The sensors may include a body with different configurations for attaching to the implantable device, such as apertures for sutures or fingers for connecting to structures of the implantable device. The sensors may provide data that allow a determination of aortic regurgitation or other information indicative of function of the implantable device and patient health during and after implantation of the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2015Publication date: February 18, 2016Inventors: Peter N. Braido, Mina S. Fahim, Steven Frederick Anderl, Jason White, Paul E. Ashworth, Morgan Low, Loell Boyce Moon, Neelakantan Saikrishnan

Patent number: 9014436Abstract: A system and method are provided for implementing a scheme to apply commercial web search technologies to biometric matching and identification based on converting biometric identification data to one or more text strings. Collected biometric identification information regarding particular physical traits is converted to a form that facilitates application of commercial Web search technologies to implement biometric matching and identification. A scalability of multi-modal biometric identification systems is maintained while substantially eliminating reliance on proprietary matchers and templates in support of interoperability and customer satisfaction. Separate biometric templates are converted into strings of searchable text in any combination of alpha-numerics during a standard biometric data enrollment process in order to limit the data storage requirements and streamline the later undertaken comparison process.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2013Date of Patent: April 21, 2015Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: Mark Kevin Cavanagh, David Wayne Hagan, Christopher Thomas Richardson, Gregory Adam Royal, Steven Frederick Venable
