  • Publication number: 20120182941
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for a device to quickly determine if data is being sent to it. If no data is being sent to the device, the device may return to a sleep mode so as to conserve energy. The present invention includes organizing and transmitting, one at a time, all device destination identifiers. If a message listing search indicates that no message is being sent for a device, the device can continue with any other activity that needs servicing, or if no other activity is pending, it may shut down to conserve power until the next wake up period arrives. If the search returns a positive indication, the count value when the identifier is found can be used to determine the location of the pointer to the message.

  • Patent number: 8036325
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cancelling interference in received signals are disclosed. A receiver includes a knowledge-based interference cancellation unit, a blind interference cancellation unit and a trade-off management unit. The knowledge-based interference cancellation unit cancels interference in the received signals based on pre-known knowledge and the blind interference cancellation unit cancels interference in the received signals without the pre-known knowledge. The trade-off management unit determines a trade-off between knowledge-based interference cancellation and blind interference cancellation, whereby at least one of the knowledge-based interference cancellation and the blind interference cancellation is selectively preformed based on the trade-off. The interference cancellation may be performed by implementing at least one of a successive interference cancellation (SIC), a principal component analysis (PCA) and an independent component analysis (ICA).

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for the detection of portable electronic device functionality. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention includes a chemically coated antenna to serve as a trigger for device functionality detection. The chemically coated antenna may be passively or actively detected. In active detection, a detection apparatus releases a chemical which reacts or otherwise respods with the chemical trigger in a detectable manner. The detection apparatus detects the reaction, which is specific to the functionality of the portable electronic device. In passive detection, a detection device simply detects the chemical trigger, which is specific to the portable electronic device functionality. • Publication number: 20090245411
Abstract: A wireless communication method of exploiting the radio frequency (RF) physical environment to establish a sufficient number of usable multiple paths of RF propagation for facilitating communications. The method is implemented in a wireless communication system including at least one transmitter and at least one receiver. The receiver's antenna is directed towards one of a plurality of reception paths and receives a data stream from the transmitter via the reception path that the receiver antenna is directed towards. The receiver decodes the data stream, reconstructs a modulation pattern of the decoded data stream, and subtracts the reconstructed data stream from a sum of all of the signals received by the receiver via the reception paths. The receiver provides received signal direction information associated with reception paths to the transmitter. The transmitter adjusts and/or eliminates one or more of the reception paths that are unusable based on the signal direction information.

  • Patent number: 7486637
Abstract: A wireless communication method and system for efficiently managing paging windows and data messages. The wireless communication system includes at last one network and a plurality of user equipments (UEs). The network maintains a memory that lists UE group identifiers, UE members associated with the UE group identifiers, and paging windows that define time periods during which UEs in particular UE groups are powered up to access data messages. The network schedules UE group identifiers and associated data message pointers within multiple paging windows listed in the network memory such that each UE accesses only one paging window. The network determines whether more than one paging window is necessary for each particular UE, and whether there are any scheduling conflicts between data messages for a particular UE. If there are no conflicts, the UEs are notified of their assigned paging window(s). Otherwise, data messages are rescheduled as necessary.

Two of the modes' phases are used to determine DOA in azimuth. The second stage multi-mode-port matrix forms a sum-mode and a difference-mode used to determine the DOA of the received signals in elevation.
