  • Patent number: 9714785
Abstract: An appliance includes a cabinet; a first compartment; and a second compartment. The first compartment and the second compartment are separated by a horizontal mullion. The cabinet also typically includes a coolant system that has: a single compressor for regulating a temperature of the first compartment and a temperature of the second compartment operably connected to at least one evaporator; a shared coolant fluid connection system; and a coolant fluid spaced within the shared coolant fluid connection system used to regulate both the temperature of the first compartment and the second compartment. The compressor can provide the shared coolant at least two different pressures to at least one evaporator using the shared coolant fluid connection circuit. The ratio of the substantially steady state heat gain for the first compartment to the substantially steady state total heat gain for the overall cabinet is about 0.65:1 or greater.

  • Publication number: 20170178282
Abstract: Aspects include a multistage collector to receive outputs from plural processing elements. Processing elements may comprise (each or collectively) a plurality of clusters, with one or more ALUs that may perform SIMD operations on a data vector and produce outputs according to the instruction stream being used to configure the ALU(s). The multistage collector includes substituent components each with at least one input queue, a memory, a packing unit, and an output queue; these components can be sized to process groups of input elements of a given size, and can have multiple input queues and a single output queue. Some components couple to receive outputs from the ALUs and others receive outputs from other components. Ultimately, the multistage collector can output groupings of input elements. Each grouping of elements (e.g., at input queues, or stored in the memories of component) can be formed based on matching of index elements.

  • Patent number: 9684376
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing tactile feedback to a rotary knob is provided herein. During operation a rotary knob will have a surface pattern that will change smoothly from one pattern to another based on device functions currently being controlled by the rotary knob. So, for example, when the rotary knob is controlling a volume function, the surface will have a first textured pattern, and when the rotary knob is controlling a channel function, the surface will have a second, differing, textured pattern.

  • Patent number: 9682784
Abstract: A system, device, and method for generating pilot-created notes and presenting them on a display unit are disclosed. The system may include a source of notes data, a display unit configured to display an image corresponding to a geographic region represented in an image data set, and a processing unit (PU). The PU may acquire note data, generate visual note data, and update the image data set of the image being displayed by the display unit as function of the visual note data. The note data could be acquired in response to a request corresponding to a geographic region being displayed. Once acquired, the PU could generate visual note data representative of at least one or more visual notes corresponding to a location of an event found within the geographic region. Then, the image data set could be updated as a function of the visual note data.

  • Patent number: 9681256
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for abbreviating the blind decoding process performed by a UE, such as an LTE UE, on control channel data such as PDCCH data of PRB pairs of a set of PRB pairs transmitted concurrently within a subframe. In some embodiments, only a prioritized portion of the PDCCH data is decoded, thereby expediting blind decoding. In some embodiments, a reduced number of encoding options for the PDCCH data is used, and blind decoding is expedited by considering only such options as possibilities. When blind decoding of the PDCCH data is completed before the end of the subframe, this may be used to identify and discard corresponding PDSCH data which is irrelevant to the UE. The prioritized portion may be adjusted as needed to include the CSS so as not to miss certain critical data.

  • Publication number: 20170160547
Abstract: Introduced here is a display device that comprises a light emitter and a diffractive optical element (DOE) that is optically coupled to receive light from the light emitter and to convey the light along an optical path. The DOE may have an input surface and an output surface parallel to the input surface, where the input surface and the output surface each have a central region and a peripheral region. The DOE further may have optical characteristics such that light exiting the DOE in the peripheral region of the output surface has greater brightness than light exiting the DOE in the central region of the output surface.

  • Publication number: 20170164329
Abstract: A method of communicating data between a base station and a plurality of terminal devices in a wireless telecommunications system. The method comprises transmitting data from the base station to the plurality of terminal devices in a multicast transmission and transmitting response signals from the terminal devices to the base station to indicate whether the respective terminal devices have successfully received the multicast transmission. The use of a multicast transmission provides an efficient mechanism for communicating the same data to a plurality of terminal device, for example as might be desired in a machine-type communication network.

  • Patent number: 9665970
Abstract: Aspects include, for example, a method for interpreting information in a computer program, or profiling such a program to estimate a group size for instances of that program (program module, or portion thereof). Such a method can be used in a system that supports collecting outputs of executing instances, where those outputs can specify new program instances. Scheduling of new instances (or allocation of resources for executing such instances) can be deferred. A trigger to begin scheduling (or allocation) for a collection of instances uses a target group size for that program. Thus, different programs can have different group sizes, which can be set explicitly, or based on profiling. The profiling can occur during one or more of pre-execution and during execution. The group size estimate can be an input into an algorithm that also accounts for system state during execution.

  • Publication number: 20170148130
Abstract: A tile-based graphics system has a rendering space sub-divided into a plurality of tiles which are to be processed. Graphics data items, such as parameters or texels, are fetched into a cache for use in processing one of the tiles. Indicators are determined for the graphics data items, whereby the indicator for a graphics data item indicates the number of tiles with which that graphics data item is associated. The graphics data items are evicted from the cache in accordance with the indicators of the graphics data items. For example, the indicator for a graphics data item may be a count of the number of tiles with which that graphics data item is associated, whereby the graphics data item(s) with the lowest count(s) is (are) evicted from the cache.

  • Publication number: 20170140357
Abstract: A method includes receiving information representing a first offer made by a manufacturer, wherein the first offer is related to a product. Information representing a second offer made by a retailer is also received, wherein the second offer is also related to the product. A request to display offers related to the product is received and in response, a user interface is generated that shows the first offer and the second offer. The user interface allows a retailer to set designations for the first offer and the second offer such that the first offer is available to customers and the second offer is not available to customers. A request from a customer for offers available at the retailer is received and in response the first offer but not the second offer is provided based on the designations set for the first offer and the second offer.
