  • Patent number: 9650875
Abstract: A liner installation system for use in a wellbore having a casing string disposed therein. The system includes a liner string having a liner hanger and a liner top and a setting tool having an expansion cone assembly and a locator cylinder. After running the liner string through the casing string such that at least the liner hanger is positioned within the wellbore casing, the setting tool is run through the casing string until the locator cylinder contacts the liner top. Thereafter, axially moving the expansion cone assembly through the liner string radially expands the liner hanger into contact with the casing string.

  • Publication number: 20170131546
Abstract: An apparatus for use in replicating an image associated with an input-pupil to an output-pupil includes a planar optical waveguide including a bulk-substrate, and also including an input-coupler, an intermediate-component and an output-coupler. The input-coupler couples light corresponding to the image into the bulk-substrate and towards the intermediate-component. The intermediate-component performs horizontal or vertical pupil expansion and directs the light corresponding to the image towards the output-coupler. The output-coupler performs the other one of horizontal or vertical pupil expansion and couples light corresponding to the image, which travels from the input-coupler to the output-coupler, out of the waveguide.

  • Publication number: 20170135066
Abstract: A method and apparatus for paging terminals such as Low Cost User Equipment (UEs) in a wireless communication system such as the Long Term Evolution (LTE) system. Terminals determine their signal quality level and, based on the signal quality, determine a number of repetitions of a message to use for decoding of the message. The message corresponds to part of a procedure for paging the terminal. The terminal receives and combines the determined number of repetitions of the message in order to decode the message.

  • Patent number: 9639985
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for detecting angular displacement of a display element relative to a reference position on a head mounted display device for presenting a mixed reality or virtual reality experience. Once the displacement is detected, it may be corrected for to maintain the proper binocular disparity of virtual images displayed to the left and right display elements of the head mounted display device. In one example, the detection system uses an optical assembly including collimated LEDs and a camera which together are insensitive to linear displacement. Such a system provides a true measure of angular displacement of one or both display elements on the head mounted display device.

  • Patent number: 9641460
Abstract: Particular embodiments provide systems and methods to reduce the average power consumption per subscriber. Particular embodiments select windows of time when network components are under-utilized by subscribers of the network. During periods of under-utilization of a network component, subscribers may be consolidated onto a smaller number of network components by increasing the service group size. The consolidation increases the service group size, which has the effect of lowering bandwidth per subscriber. However, the bandwidth use per subscriber may be lower during this time. The use of the smaller number of network components allows the energy for these components to be used more efficiently. When the subscriber network demands increase, the distribution system places the network components into an active power state and redistributes the subscribers to the newly-activated components. This decreases the service group size, such as back to the original size.

  • Publication number: 20170099649
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for paging User Equipment (UE). According to embodiments, repetition of paging can help UEs to more reliably receive pages when they are operating in idle mode DRX, and in particular enhanced idle mode DRX (eDRX). The UE and the eNB are cooperatively configured to determine an eDRX time interval and a value for paging occasion (PO) repetition based on one or more parameters, such as UE mobility requirements; UE power requirements; latency requirements, and timing discrepancies between base stations. The base station transmits pages, and the UE monitors for said pages, with timing that is based on the eDRX time interval and the PO repetition values.

  • Publication number: 20170093533
Abstract: A two-wire process variable transmitter for use in an industrial process includes a process variable sensor configured to sense a process variable of a process fluid of the industrial process. Output circuitry provides an output on a two-wire process control loop which is related to the sensed process variable. Terminal voltage measurement circuitry measures a voltage at terminals of the process variable transmitter. The terminal voltage is a voltage measured across an electrical connection of the two-wire process variable transmitter to the two-wire process control loop. A microprocessor performs loop diagnostics on the two-wire process control loop based upon a loop current and the measured terminal voltage. The microprocessor determines coefficients of a polynomial equation which relates loop current and terminal voltage during normal operation of the two-wire process variable transmitter and performs subsequent diagnostics based upon the coefficients of the polynomial.
