Abstract: A method and apparatus for inspecting transparent materials. An optical inspection apparatus comprises a prism, a mirror, and a light source. The prism has a first end, a first side, and a second side. The first side is opposite the second side, the first end is located between the first side and the second side, the first end has an angled surface, and the prism is capable of bending light. The first side is around parallel to the second side. The mirror is on the angled surface. The mirror is capable of redirecting light entering the prism on the first side along a directed line of sight to the second side along a line of sight to a viewer. The light source is attached to another surface on the first end. The light source is capable of transmitting light through the prism along the directed line of sight.

  • Publication number: 20100273298
Abstract: A conductive layer in an integrated circuit is formed as a sandwich having multiple sublayers, including at least one sublayer of oriented carbon nanotubes. The conductive layer sandwich preferably contains two sublayers of carbon nanotubes, in which the carbon nanotube orientation in one sublayer is substantially perpendicular to that of the other layer. The conductive layer sandwich preferably contains one or more additional sublayers of a conductive material, such as a metal. In one embodiment, oriented carbon nanotubes are created by forming a series of elongated parallel catalyst strips on a horizontal surface, and growing carbon nanotubes from the catalyst in the presence of a directional flow of reactant gases.

  • Publication number: 20100271484
Abstract: There is provided a method and apparatus for motion estimation in a sequence of video images. The method comprises a) subdividing each field or frame of a sequence of video images into a plurality of blocks, b) assigning to each block in each video field or frame a respective set of candidate motion vectors, c) determining for each block in a current video field or frame, which of its respective candidate motion vectors produces a best match to a block in a previous video field or frame, d) forming a motion vector field for the current video field or frame using the thus determined best match vectors for each block, and e) forming a further motion vector field by storing a candidate motion vector derived from the best match vector at a block location offset by a distance derived from the candidate motion vector. Finally, steps a) to e) are repeated for a video field or frame following the current video field or frame.

The methods include forming a stacked structure including a gate electrode layer and catalyst pads each coupled electrically with a source/drain contact. The gate electrode layer is divided into multiple gate electrodes and at least one semiconducting carbon nanotube is synthesized by a chemical vapor deposition process on each of the catalyst pads. The completed device structure includes a gate electrode with a sidewall covered by a gate dielectric and at least one semiconducting carbon nanotube adjacent to the sidewall of the gate electrode. Source/drain contacts are electrically coupled with opposite ends of the semiconducting carbon nanotube to complete the device structure. • Patent number: 7790022
Abstract: A water treatment system comprising a separable water treatment component and a host water treatment apparatus is described. The component is useable in the host apparatus, and has an electronic circuit which is adapted to co-operate with an electronic circuit in the host apparatus. In typical operation, the electronic circuit of the component includes at least a data tag, and the presence of the data tag is identified by the electronic circuit of the host apparatus upon correct fitment and/or installation of the component, which creates a two-way communication protocol. The host apparatus can then upload relevant data from the data tag, etc., and the component's circuit can download the relevant information from the host apparatus. The present invention provides the benefits of electrical co-operation and data tagging.
