  • Publication number: 20100223880
Abstract: A method for forming a structural paver deck assembly includes fastening structural decking panels across a bare frame structure. One or more of the decking panels includes an upper panel surface having a non-planar contoured decking panel surface. A paver decking surface is seated over the plurality of structural decking panels to form a paver decking surface. Seating includes positioning a plurality of paver pieces on the structural decking panels including interfittingly engaging the paver pieces to the non-planar contoured decking panel surface. Seating further includes aligning the plurality of paver pieces in at least one specified direction, wherein the paver pieces includes paver contour surfaces along a lower surface having a corresponding shape to the non-planar contoured decking panel surface. • Patent number: 7790022
Abstract: A water treatment system comprising a separable water treatment component and a host water treatment apparatus is described. The component is useable in the host apparatus, and has an electronic circuit which is adapted to co-operate with an electronic circuit in the host apparatus. In typical operation, the electronic circuit of the component includes at least a data tag, and the presence of the data tag is identified by the electronic circuit of the host apparatus upon correct fitment and/or installation of the component, which creates a two-way communication protocol. The host apparatus can then upload relevant data from the data tag, etc., and the component's circuit can download the relevant information from the host apparatus. The present invention provides the benefits of electrical co-operation and data tagging.

  • Patent number: 7786583
Abstract: A conductive layer in an integrated circuit is formed as a sandwich having multiple sublayers, including at least one sublayer of oriented carbon nanotubes. The conductive layer sandwich preferably contains two sublayers of carbon nanotubes, in which the carbon nanotube orientation in one sublayer is substantially perpendicular to that of the other layer. The conductive layer sandwich preferably contains one or more additional sublayers of a conductive material, such as a metal. In one embodiment, oriented carbon nanotubes are created by forming a series of parallel surface ridges, covering the top and one side of the ridges with a catalyst inhibitor, and growing carbon nanotubes horizontally from the uncovered vertical sides of the ridges. In another embodiment, oriented carbon nanotubes are grown on the surface of a conductive material in the presence of a directional flow of reactant gases and a catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20100194632
Abstract: In general, the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products. Data representing a plurality of power management profiles for a battery-operated wireless computing device are stored on the device. The power management profiles correspond to different power consumption levels. Each power management profile defines a feature for determining a geographic location of the device from among a plurality of features that are available for determining the geographic location of the device, and a frequency for employing the feature to determine the geographic location of the device. A first battery level of the device is determined. If the determined battery level is lower than a first predetermined amount, the device switches from a first power management profile having a first consumption level to a second power management profile having a second consumption level that is lower than the first consumption level.

  • Patent number: 7747760
Abstract: A networked computer system provides a way to quickly switch to a backup data center when a primary data center fails. Each data center includes a redirect table that specifies a geographical area corresponding to each user. The redirect table is replicated on one or more data centers so that each data center has the same information. When a data center fails, the redirect table in one of the non-failed data centers is updated to specify a new data center for each client that used the failed data center as its primary data center. A network dispatcher recognizes that the failed data center is unavailable, and routes a request to the backup data center. Network routing logic then issues a redirection command that causes all subsequent requests from that client to be redirected directly to the backup data center.

  • Patent number: 7743720
Abstract: A multihull hydrofoil watercraft incorporates a stabilization system wherein the buoyancy of the hulls is used as a sensing and control mechanism for the hydrofoils. The use of hull buoyancy to adjust the hydrofoil lift provides for automatic control of altitude, pitch and roll, and allows the craft to accommodate varying weather and sea conditions while providing a smooth ride for passengers. The stabilization technique eliminates the need for extraneous sensing mechanisms placed in or on the water surface which are subject to fouling, damage, or disruption by localized surface disturbances.

  • Patent number: 7733984
Abstract: A method for implementing phase rotator circuits and phase rotator circuit of the invention includes a polyphase filter network to create a quadrature phase version of the input signal. The polyphase filter network is partitioned into a first part that is physically isolated from the phase rotator circuit and a second part that is embedded in the phase rotator circuit. The second part of the polyphase filter is coupled to the first part of the polyphase filter by a high-pass equalizing buffer stage. The second part of the polyphase filter is coupled to the phase rotator circuit by a bandlimiting buffer stage.
