  • Publication number: 20100065051
Abstract: A blower unit for use as part of an integrated blower/humidification system is described. The blower unit has an outer casing, which encloses and forms part of the blower unit, the casing including an air inlet vent. The blower unit further includes a humidifier compartment for receiving a humidifier unit with a separate gases inlet and outlet, the compartment having a heater base for heating the contents of the humidifier unit. The compartment also has a blower inlet port which aligns with the humidifier unit inlet in use, the blower providing a gases path through the casing between the inlet vent and the inlet port. The blower unit also includes a fan for providing a pressurised gases stream along the gases path, and a power supply unit for powering the fan. The gases path is routed over the power supply unit in order to provide a cooling air flow.

  • Patent number: 7664643
Abstract: A method, and a system to execute this method is being presented for the identification and separation of sources of an acoustic signal, which signal contains a mixture of multiple simultaneous component signals. The method represents the signal with multiple discrete state-variable sequences and combines acoustic and context level dynamics to achieve the source separation. The method identifies sources by discovering those frames of the signal whose features are dominated by single sources. The signal may be the simultaneous speech of multiple speakers.

  • Publication number: 20100024705
Abstract: A floating vessel is equipped with perforated plates which exhibit both an added-mass effect and a damping effect. The addition of porosity to an added mass plate phase-shifts the added mass force so that it becomes at least partially a damping force which does not depend on large velocities to develop a large damping force. Preferred porosity is in the range of about 5% to about 15% of total plate area. A semi-submersible drilling rig may have damper plates fitted between its surface-piercing columns and/or extending from the sides of its pontoons. A truss spar offshore platform may have damper plates installed within its truss structure intermediate its hull and ballast tank. Drill ships and similar vessels may be equipped with damper plates extending from the sides of their hulls to reduce both heave and roll. In certain embodiments, the damper plates are retractable so as not to interfere with docking and to reduce drag while the vessel is underway.

  • Publication number: 20100006300
Abstract: Flexible hang-off arrangement is provided for a catenary riser suspended from an offshore or inshore platform, which includes floating or fixed platforms, vessels or/and buoys. The bending loads in the top segments of the said riser are reduced by incorporating a pivot at the riser hang-off. Pressure containing welded, bolted, rolled or swaged pipe spools transfer fluids, including hydrocarbons between the riser and the platform. Along significant spool lengths the tangents to the center lines of said spools are orthogonal to and offset from the tangent to the center line of the riser at the hang-off. The said pressure containing spools include arbitrary looped, spiral and helicoidal designs that are subject to torsion.

  • Publication number: 20090322739
Abstract: Visual interaction with an analytics-driven model view composition application. The application includes a data-model binding component that binds input data to model parameters, an analytics solver component that solves for remaining unknown model parameters, and a view composition component that generates a view composition using the model parameters. In one visual interaction, various solutions of the model are provided in alternative views of various view compositions in a single integrated composition. In another interaction, regardless of whether there are multiple view compositions illustrated in a single integrated view, there might be visual prompts in the view composition that suggest an adjustment to make that might move the value of a particular model parameter in a desired direction.

  • Publication number: 20090322752
Abstract: Aspects comprise systems implementing ray tracing functionality according to example architectures. In one example, rays are collected into collections against elements of an acceleration structure, which in some cases are associated with objects composing a scene being ray traced. Indications of detected ray intersections also can be collected in an output buffer, and in some examples, the output buffer can comprise a plurality of portions, each associated with a scene object, or a common portion of code to be executed during shading. Buffer contents can be accessed in a block read. An intersection shading resource can load data to be used in shading the intersections for the identified rays, and locally storing that data for use in shading those intersections.

  • Publication number: 20090326442
Abstract: A one dose at a time, non-pressurised fluid dispensing canister from which the or each dose is dispensed as a result of two surfaces (21, 22) of the canister moving towards one another under the control of the user,—characterised in that the canister incorporates a mechanism which, once a first dose has been dispensed, automatically prevents any further dispensing movement of the said surfaces (21, 22) (in the case where the canister is a one-dosage only canister) or (where the canister is a multiple-dosage-dispensing canister) allows such movement only after the two surfaces (21, 22) have first been moved in a direction or directions other than that which alone caused the first dose to be dispensed.

  • Publication number: 20090317205
Abstract: A decking beam support bracket being removably attachable to vertical anchoring tracks installed in a cargo container. The decking beam support bracket comprises a durably rigid horizontal frame. Each end of the support bracket frame has inwardly tapered ends, whereby protecting cargo from the bracket during loading or unloading of the container. Various slots are formed into the length of the frame and spaced a short distance apart allowing a decking beam to be attached at varying intervals according to the length of the bracket. The bracket is attachable to the vertical anchoring tracks by having two securement members attached on the rear side of opposing ends of the bracket frame.

  • Publication number: 20090311490
Abstract: A new lithographic process comprises reducing the linewidth of an image while maintaining the lithographic process window, and using this process to fabricate pitch split structures comprising nm order (e.g., about 22 nm) node semiconductor devices. The process comprises applying a lithographic resist layer on a surface of a substrate and patterning and developing the lithographic resist layer to form a nm order node image having an initial line width. Overcoating the nm order node image with an acidic polymer produces an acidic polymer coated image. Heating the acidic polymer coated image gives a heat treated coating on the image, the heating being conducted at a temperature and for a time sufficient to reduce the initial linewidth to a subsequent narrowed linewidth. Developing the heated treated coating removes it from the image resulting in a free-standing trimmed lithographic feature on the substrate. Optionally repeating the foregoing steps further reduces the linewidth of the narrowed line.

  • Publication number: 20090303465
Abstract: A method for inspecting lenses, especially wet contact lenses provided in a volume of liquid inside a container is described. A first image of the lens at a first position in the container is obtained, the lens then being moved to a second position within the container where a second image is obtained. A computer algorithm processes the first and second images to compare features that have moved with the lens to those features that have not moved with the lens whereby lenses are rejected if a feature has moved with the lens but is not a normal feature of the lens.
