  • Patent number: 6901440
Abstract: The present invention provides a scalable, high-performance universal service activation system and method for activating service(s) on a network management system/EMS or other information management system with universal or generic informational changes entered in a service provisioning system(s). The invention is particularly useful in describing and initiating the activation of telecommunications and data communications network services in a vendor neutral manner, but can be employed to advantage for providing universal service activation for any industry and independent of technology. The inventive system and method incorporates object behavior concepts with the existing network management approach to create an EMS/NMS/OSS that significantly reduces the human effort to integrate network element configuration and provisioning for new and modified network elements.

  • Patent number: 6897777
Abstract: A target junction is illuminated with energy at a fundamental RF frequency and reflections from the non-linear junction are analyzed to determine the type of junction detected. The power output level of a transmitter emitting the illuminating signal is automatically controlled so as to drive the signal strength of the received signals towards a predetermined value, e.g. a minimum threshold value. An indication of the current received signal strength, adjusted by a factor so as to compensate for any automatic adaptation in the actual transmitter power output level, may be provided to an operator.

  • Patent number: 6891235
Abstract: An FET has a T-shaped gate. The FET has a halo diffusion self-aligned to the bottom portion of the T and an extension diffusion self aligned to the top portion. The halo is thereby separated from the extension implant, and this provides significant advantages. The top and bottom portions of the T-shaped gate can be formed of layers of two different materials, such as germanium and silicon. The two layers are patterned together. Then exposed edges of the bottom layer are selectively chemically reacted and the reaction products are etched away to provide the notch. In another embodiment, the gate is formed of a single gate conductor. A metal is conformally deposited along sidewalls, recess etched to expose a top portion of the sidewalls, and heated to form silicide along bottom portions. The silicide is etched to provide the notch.

  • Patent number: 6875703
Abstract: A method is provided for forming a quadruple density sidewall image transfer (SIT) structure. Oxide spacers are formed on opposite sidewalls of a first mandrel. The oxide spacers form a second mandrel. Then sidewall spacers are formed on opposite sidewalls of the oxide spacers forming the second mandrel. A pattern of the sidewall spacers is used to form the quadruple density sidewall image transfer (SIT) structure. The method of the invention enables formation of four well-controlled lines for each lithographically minimum pitch dimension.

  • Patent number: 6870864
Abstract: An optical margin testing system is provided for automatic power control loops. An optical circuit includes a laser diode and a monitor diode coupled to the automatic power control loop. A bias generator circuit generates a control signal. The control signal is applied to the automatic power control loop. The control signal enables an operation point of the laser diode to both increase and decrease by a set percentage value for optical margin testing. The bias generator circuit includes a tri-state receiver. An input signal is applied to the tri-state receiver for selecting one of a normal operational mode, an increased set percentage value operational mode, and a decreased set percentage value operational mode. A current mirror is coupled to the tri-state receiver provides the control signal that is applied to the automatic power control loop.

  • Patent number: 6854212
Abstract: A drive system drives a pulley along a curved track to open and close a sliding vehicle door. The pulley is pivotally mounted to the sliding door to permit the pulley to pivot when the pulley traverses the curved portion of the track. An electric motor drives the pulley through a drive belt. In operation, as the pulley pivots when it traverses the curved portion of the track, the drive belt twists. Torque transfer between the pulleys and the motor is maintained during twisting of the drive belt which thereby permits an uncomplicated yet effective system for driving the sliding door along the curved portion of track. Another drive system transmits torque through a drive shaft arrangement which rotates as the drive system traverses the curved portion of track.

  • Patent number: 6847324
Abstract: Systems and methods for automated detection and removal of solar interference in real time from NEXRAD or other similar radar products. The radar site latitude and longitude and scan elevation time are extracted from the radar data and a position of the Sun is determined for the extracted latitude and longitude and scan time. A radial that has been contaminated with solar interference is determined and the solar interference is removed from that radial; The removal process does not impact the timeliness of critical products, and conservatively removes solar interference. In addition inaccuracies with NEXRAD clock time synchronization are accounted for to ensure accurate results.

  • Publication number: 20040257012
Abstract: A door actuation system conducts or assists movement of sliding vehicle doors by connecting the door to a bi-directional motor via one or more helical cables that engage with gearing on the bi-directional motor. Rotation of the motor in either direction pushes or pulls the helical cables, causing the door to move toward the open or closed position. The motor can be stopped when the door reaches selected positions other than the open or closed position, holding the door in a partially open position.

  • Patent number: 6826986
Abstract: A sawing system (200) incorporates a vision zone (220) between a loading/unloading zone (115) and a sawing zone (210). This arrangement allows a dual spindle counter rotating saw assembly (230) to be more rigidly mounted, which reduces the displacement of the saw assembly during the sawing process. This, advantageously reduces the variation in the cut made by the saw blades of the saw assembly to comply with a predetermined required tolerance. In addition, with the vision zone (220) located between the loading/unloading zone (115) and the sawing zone (210), a semiconductor wafer or substrate is transported from the loading/unloading zone (115) to the vision zone (220) without passing the sawing zone (210). Consequently, exposure of a semiconductor wafer or substrate to water or debris from the sawing process is avoided, and imaging can be performed at the vision zone (220) without water or debris adversely affecting the imaging.
