  • Patent number: 8487472
Abstract: Grip actuated control system to provide operational control of vehicle functions at a gripping surface of handlebar equipped vehicles. The system can be provided as original equipment and as an aftermarket addition or replacement for existent vehicle controls. The system includes one or more grip controls positioned adjacent a user's fingertips in a grip or glove assembly which are in communication with a control module. The control module is connected to existent or provided vehicle wiring and thus to respective operational equipment such that user actuation of a grip control induces the control module to provide a corresponding output to activate/deactivate or regulate the operation of the respective vehicle equipment. Communication between the grip controls and control module can be wireless for increased flexibility in installation and placement of the module on the vehicle. Combinations, sequences, and relative timing of the grip controls can provide numerous distinct control functions.

  • Publication number: 20120283459
Abstract: Mixed metal oxide catalysts (ZnO, CeO, La2O3, NiO, Al203, Si02, TiO2, Nd2O3, Yb2O3, or any combination of these) supported on zirconia (ZrO2) or hydrous zirconia are provided. These mixed metal oxide catalysts can be prepared via coprecipitation, impregnation, or sol-gel methods from metal salt precursors with/without a Zirconium salt precursor. Metal oxides/ZrO2 catalyzes both esterification and transesterification of oil containing free fatty acids in one batch or in single stage. In particular, these mixed metal oxides supported or added on zirconium oxide exhibit good activity and selectivity for esterification and transesterification. The low acid strength of this catalyst can avoid undesirable side reaction such as alcohol dehydration or cracking of fatty acids. Metal oxides/ZrO2 catalysts are not sensitive to any water generated from esterification. Thus, esterification does not require a water free condition or the presence of excess methanol to occur when using the mixed metal oxide catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20120233910
Abstract: A method of forming a product from an oil feedstock, such as a biodiesel product, and a heterogeneous catalyst system used to form said product is disclosed. This catalyst system, which has a high tolerance for the presence of water and free fatty acids (FFA) in the oil feedstock, may simultaneously catalyze both the esterification of FAA and the transesterification of triglycerides present in the oil feedstock. The catalyst system is comprised of a mixture of zinc oxide and a second metal oxide. The zinc oxide includes a mixture of amorphous zinc oxide and zinc oxide nanocrystals, the zinc nanocrystals having a mean grain size between about 20 and 80 nanometers with at least one of the nanocrystals including a mesopore having a diameter of about 5 to 15 nanometers. Preferably, the second metal oxide is a lanthanum oxide, the lanthanum oxide being selected as one from the group of La2CO5, LaOOH, and combinations or mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 8234074
Abstract: A coarse grain model that mimics a lipid molecule, such as dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC), is used to simulate self-assembly of a lamellar bilayer starting from a disordered configuration. The coarse grain model is orders of magnitude less demanding of CPU time compared to all-atom models. An initial bilayer-like structure is generated from a disordered configuration of the coarse grain models using a Monte Carlo simulation. The initial bilayer-like structure is refined using a molecular dynamics simulation. For relatively small systems, the molecular dynamics simulation can be performed under constant volume or constant pressure conditions. For larger systems, the molecular dynamics simulation is preferably performed under constant pressure conditions.

  • Patent number: 8165305
Abstract: A system (108) for securing a database including a first and second tables is provided, where the first table includes a first key field and a first data field and the second table includes a second key field and a second data field. The first and second key fields specifying first and second key field entries having one common entry. • Publication number: 20120079450
Abstract: Automatic deployment of an information technology (TT) system instance having hardware and software components. An application model of the software components is generated based on use cases and is associated with functional and non-functional requirements. An infrastructure model of the hardware components is generated based on the application model. The same software component modeling language represents both the application and infrastructure models. A markup language computer file is generated to include a design of the IT system instance and instructions for accessing library-stored assets that specify the hardware and software components. The computer file is exported to a deployment tool for automatic deployment of the IT system instance based on carrying out the instructions. In one embodiment, the impact of a proposed change is identified and managed in real time prior to a deployment of the proposed change.

  • Patent number: 8095859
Abstract: Encoding of a low-density parity check code uses a block-circulant encoding matrix built from circulant matrices. Encoding can include partitioning data into a plurality of data segments. The data segments are each circularly rotated. A plurality of XOR summations are formed for each rotation of the data segments to produce output symbols. The XOR summations use data from the data segments defined by the circulant matrices. Output symbols are produced in parallel for each rotation of the data segments.
