  • Publication number: 20070211331
Abstract: A front plane laminate (see U.S. Pat. No. 6,982,178) is produced by forming a sub-assembly comprising a lamination adhesive layer and an electro-optic layer, forming an aperture through the sub-assembly, and securing a light-transmissive electrode layer to the sub-assembly so that the electrode layer extends across the aperture. Alternatively, formation of the aperture is omitted, and the electrode layer has a tab portion extending beyond the edges of the lamination adhesive and electro-optic layers. When a front plane laminate is secured to a backplane to form an electro-optic display, a stiffening layer may be attached to either part to increase its stiffness, then removed after the lamination. An electro-optic display or front plane laminate may use an adhesive layer comprising separate layers of cross-linked and non-cross-linked adhesive.

  • Publication number: 20070207560
Abstract: A front plane laminate useful in the manufacture of electro-optic displays comprises, in order, a light-transmissive electrically-conductive layer, a layer of an electro-optic medium in electrical contact with the electrically-conductive layer, an adhesive layer and a release sheet. This front plane laminate can be prepared as a continuous web, cut to size, the release sheet removed and the laminate laminated to a backplane to form a display. Methods for providing conductive vias through the electro-optic medium and for testing the front plane laminate are also described.

  • Patent number: 7257568
Abstract: The present invention provides a search method and system for matching a commodity to one or more applications for using the commodity. A plurality of properties associated with the commodity are identified. A collection of documents for searching for a plurality of combinations of the identified properties is also defined, wherein the combination includes a single property or multiple properties. The defined collection of documents is searched for all occurrences or indications of the combination of properties, and the hits are retrieved for those documents that include one or more of the identified properties. The hits are then associated with one or more subclasses of a classification scheme, and reviewed for those hits that include the identified properties of the commodity, but that need not otherwise identify the commodity per se.

  • Publication number: 20070120740
Abstract: The present invention relates to an antenna structure comprising a dielectric pellet and a dielectric substrate with upper and lower surfaces and at least one groundplane, wherein the dielectric pellet is elevated above the upper surface of the dielectric substrate such that the dielectric pellet does not directly contact the dielectric substrate or the groundplane, and wherein the dielectric pellet is provided with a conductive direct feed structure. A radiating antenna component is additionally provided and arranged so as to be excited by the dielectric pellet. Elevating the dielectric antenna component so that it does not directly contact the groundplane or the dielectric substrate significantly improves bandwidth of the antenna as a whole.

  • Publication number: 20070080593
Abstract: A compliant bearing sleeve resides between a bearing and a bearing seat, thus opening tolerance requirements, and providing thermal and mechanical insulation of the bearing from the bearing seat. The bearing sleeve comprises alternating outside and inside ribs residing on a sleeve body. In a relaxed state (i.e., not inserted into a motor) the sleeve body is cylindrical. When the bearing sleeve is inserted into the motor, the ribs cause the sleeve body to deform to allow the sleeve to fit between the bearing seat and the bearing. The bearing sleeve preferably includes an axial bearing stop to retain the bearing, and is preferably made of a high temperature material.

  • Patent number: 7176586
Abstract: Grip actuated control system to provide operational control of vehicle functions at a gripping surface of handlebar equipped vehicles. The system can be provided as original equipment and as an aftermarket addition or replacement for existent vehicle controls. The system includes one or more grip controls positioned adjacent a user's fingertips in a grip or glove assembly which are in communication with a control module. The control module is connected to existent or provided vehicle wiring and thus to respective operational equipment such that user actuation of a grip control induces the control module to provide a corresponding output to activate/deactivate or regulate the operation of the respective vehicle equipment. Communication between the grip controls and control module can be wireless for increased flexibility in installation and placement of the module on the vehicle. Combinations, sequences, and relative timing of the grip controls can provide numerous distinct control functions.

  • Patent number: 7171147
Abstract: A double-sleeved roller (DSR) including: a mandrel having a disconnectable end incorporating three termination plates having specified axial profiles; a replaceable inner sleeve member (ISM) mounted on the mandrel; and, a replaceable multilayer outer sleeve member (OSM) including at least one synthetic layer with the OSM surrounding the ISM. The mandrel, adapted to support a non-reinforced ISM, includes the termination plates joined together so as to define two sets of channels for selectively conveying pressurized air to either OSM or ISM for radial expansion thereof. The termination plates have specialized outer shapes, with each termination end plate including a cylindrical portion adjoining a tapered portion. For removal and/or replacement of the OSM or the ISM, a removable support member is moved away from the disconnectable end of the roller while the other end of the roller continues to be supported in cantilever fashion.

  • Patent number: 7171158
Abstract: An improved satellite communication device and system are provided. The satellite communication device uses yaw or roll-yaw steering to linearize angular track of uplink cells; one-dimensional linear “ratcheting” in an uplink antenna to maintain resource allocation of uplink cells along antenna columns; phased-array downlink antennas which can track earth-fixed downlink cells while compensating for the yaw (or roll-yaw) satellite steering; and variable rate TDMA service among downlink cells in a footprint. As a result, system overhead for performing new resource allocations between satellite handovers is minimized, thereby reducing resource management and increasing system capacity. Flexible bandwidth/capacity assignment of both uplink and downlink resources to earth locations via linear cell ratcheting, uplink RF peaking switch, and data-driven variable-TDMA downlink phased-arrays, is provided.

  • Patent number: 7162697
Abstract: A text based script file describing enhancements is parsed to produce platform dependent enhancement files that may be employed to produce enhancements on a set top box, enhanced television, or computer display. A script file may be of XML format and a parser may be an XSL translator. A parser may import HTML and Javascript from other applications. A parser may support a media player for emulation to view video and enhancements. Trigger data for rendering enhancements may be formatted into a javascript array. Trigger events may be employed to replace graphic pointers or text values. Multiple parsers, each supporting a specific platform, allow a single script file to be employed across multiple platforms. New platforms or versions of platforms are supported through new or updated parsers.
