Abstract: A selectable mode field transmitter is configurable to operate in one of a plurality of operating modes having different combinations of function, performance, and power consumption. The selectable mode field transmitter includes a housing, a sensor located within the housing, and transmitter circuitry for transmitting data provided by the sensor to a receiver external to the housing. The transmitter circuitry includes a controller that electrically configures the transmitter circuitry to one of a plurality of operational modes in response to mode selection data received from a source external to the housing. Therefore, the selectable mode field transmitter can be configured based on the needs or requirements of a particular application.

Abstract: A direct memory access controller for controlling data transfer between a plurality of data sources and a plurality of data destinations is disclosed. The plurality of data sources and data destinations communicate with the direct memory access controller via a plurality of channels, the direct memory access controller further communicates with a memory and a processor. The memory stores two sets of control data for each of the plurality of channels and for the processor. The direct memory access controller is responsive to a data transfer request received from one of said plurality of channels or from said processor to access one set of said corresponding control data stored in said memory, said direct memory access performing at least a portion of said data transfer requested in dependence upon said accessed control data.

Abstract: A closure safety interlock system is provided for a pressure vessel having a closure assembly with a primary locking system. The closure safety interlock defines a secondary locking system for assuring that the primary locking system may be opened only by following a proper sequence, thereby minimizing misuse of the primary locking system. The closure safety interlock includes a blocking member movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position for blocking movement of a primary lock when in the engaged position and until a release mechanism in the primary lock has been activated. A mechanism is provided for moving the blocking member from the engaged position to the disengaged position once the release mechanism has been activated.

Abstract: A microneedle applicator is provided which has two roughly concentric portions which may be, for example, a solid disk and an annulus surrounding it. On the skin-facing side of the inner portion of the applicator a microneedle array is located. The outer portion of the applicator is placed against the skin, contacting it at a zone. The microneedle array is then pressed towards the skin.

The method analyses a bitmap image to detect at least one bit map representation of a graphical object and a bitmap representation of a line object. The method matches the graphical object with one of a plurality of predetermined template shapes (e.g., 420), the template shape having one or more predetermined non-contiguous connection points. The method selects one of the predetermined connection points for the line object if at least one end of the line object is within a predetermined distance of the selected connection point and associates the line object with the selected connection point. The method creates an editable document comprising the template shape with the line object connected thereto, wherein the line object remains associated with the selected connection point upon the template shape being modified within the document such that the line object remains dynamically connected to the template shape.

The method matches the detected graphical object with at least one of a plurality of predetermined modifiable closed-form non-textual template shapes (e.g., 420) comprising control parameters for modifying the closed-form non-textual template shape in a non-affine manner. The number of control parameters of the predetermined modifiable closed-form non-textual template shape is less than the number of sections making up the modifiable closed-form non-textual template shape. Abstract: A method (100), an apparatus, and a computer program product for automatically producing a compact representation of a colour document are disclosed. In the method, a digital image of a colour-document page is segmented (110) into connected components in one-pass, block raster order. The digital image of the page is partitioned into foreground and background images using layout analysis (120) based on compact, connected-component statistics of the whole page. At least one portion of the background image where at least one portion of the foreground image obscures the background image is inpainting (520) in one-pass block raster order. The foreground and background images are combined (130) to form a compact document. A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for segmenting a digital image comprising a plurality of pixels are also disclosed.

Abstract: A water tank for a humidifier having a water passage in each of its top end and bottom end. The tank includes an actuator which is operable to open and close both of the passages. Operating the actuator opens the top passage while closing the bottom passage and opens the bottom passage while closing the top passage. Accordingly, the water tank may be filled through the top passage while placed in a humidifier tray.

Abstract: In one aspect, an ion beam profiler for use in an ion implanter is disclosed that includes a Faraday cup disposed in an end-station of the ion implanter in a path of an ion beam traveling from a source to the end-station. The Faraday cup comprises an aperture that is adapted to allow passage of a cross-sectional slices of the beam. An array of ion detectors is disposed behind the Faraday cup in substantial register with the aperture so as to receive different slices of the beam as the beam is scanned across the aperture. The bean profiler further comprises an analyzer that is coupled to the detector array for analyzing detector signals generated in response to ion impingement so as to compute a two-dimensional cross-sectional profile of the beam.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to provide refresh for local out of range read requests for a memory device are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein provides a read signal to a memory cell. An address is received on row address lines ranging from a most significant bit row address line to a least significant bit row address line. A fixed high logic input is coupled to a first input of a row driver logic device associated with a local out of range address. Logic is provided to send a read enable signal on a bit line coupled to an output of the row driver logic device coupled to the memory cell if the address is the local out of range address.

Abstract: A method includes determining a garbage collection list for a data storage structure of a node in a data storage system, the garbage collection list including one or more layout map identifiers (IDs) for garbage collection. A data fragment stored on the data storage structure is located at a first location and a layout map ID associated with the data fragment is determined. A determination is made whether the layout map ID associated with the data fragment matches a layout map ID for garbage collection in the garbage collection list. If the layout map ID associated with the data fragment matches a layout map ID for garbage collection in the garbage collection list, a determination is made whether the data fragment is present at a second location on the data storage system. If the data fragment is present at a second location on the data storage system, the data fragment at the first location is determined to be a garbage fragment and deleted from the data storage system.

Abstract: A method for recovery of data objects on a data storage system includes determining a list of layout map IDs that place data objects on a node of a data storage system. For each layout map ID, a list of object IDs associated with each of the data objects assigned the layout map ID is determined. For each object ID, a list of data object fragments associated with the object ID is determined. A determination is made whether each of the data object fragments is present on the node. If a data object fragment is not present on the node, the data object fragment is reconstructed on the data storage system. The method can be automatically implemented by each of one or more operational nodes of a distributed data storage system at configured time intervals, and/or upon the operational loss of a data storage structure of a node, or a node.
