  • Patent number: 9211030
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cooking apparatus, typically for microwave ovens and the like, that has separate compartments for different foods or food components. These separate compartments are such that food components are kept separate during storage, prior to cooking or heating, as well as during cooking or heating, avoiding unwanted mixing of the food components. The apparatus includes compartments configured such that steam, generated by the heating of a food component in a lower compartment is used to steam cook or heat a food component in an upper compartment.

  • Patent number: 9213576
Abstract: A method includes identifying high-availability jobs and low-availability jobs that demand usage of resources of a distributed system. The method includes determining a first quota of the resources available to low-availability jobs as a quantity of the resources available during normal operations, and determining a second quota of the resources available to high-availability jobs as a quantity of the resources available during normal operations minus a quantity of the resources lost due to a tolerated event. The method includes executing the jobs on the distributed system and constraining a total usage of the resources by both the high-availability jobs and the low-availability jobs to the quantity of the resources available during normal operations.

  • Publication number: 20150343716
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a flange has a laminate component and a drum supporting the laminate component. A forming tool selectively engages the laminate component. A diaphragm member extends between the drum and the laminate component and selectively engages the forming tool. Movement of the diaphragm member deforms the laminate component away from the drum about an edge of the forming tool, and the laminate component maintains a substantially uniform thickness.

Abstract: A method and system of providing therapy to a patient's uterus is provided, which can include any number of features. The method can include the steps of inserting a uterine device into the uterus and performing a uterine integrity test to determine that the uterus is intact and not perforated. If it is determined that the uterus is not perforated, a patency test can be performed to determine that the uterine device is not clogged or embedded in tissue. If the uterus is intact and the device is not clogged or embedded in tissue, the uterus can be treated with the uterine device, e.g., uterine ablation. • Patent number: 9163416
Abstract: A method of texturing a wall or ceiling with non-acoustical joint compound by providing a collapsible bag having an opening at its top and is adapted to contain non-acoustical joint compound for forming a textured coating on the wall or ceiling and providing a spray nozzle having a low pressure input port, a joint compound suction port attached to the opening at the top of the collapsible bag, and an output port for spraying the non-acoustical joint compound. A low pressure stream of air from an air gun attached to the low pressure input port urges a small quantity of the non-acoustical joint compound to be sprayed out of the spray nozzle when the bottom of the collapsible disposable bag is raised above its top to either allow or force the joint compound to flow into the suction port and into the interior of the spray nozzle.

  • Publication number: 20150262180
Abstract: A method of authorizing a debit transaction involves a server receiving from a debit terminal a message requesting authorization for a debit transaction. The message includes a credential provided by a payment token interfaced with the debit terminal. The credential is uniquely associated with the token. The server is in communication with a payment definition database that associates a plurality of payment credentials each with a respective financial account and a default payment amount. The server determines the financial account and the default amount by querying the database with the received credential. Particulars of the determined financial account and default amount are indeterminable from only the credential. The server authenticates the message and facilitates a debit in the default amount from the financial account. The server performs the receiving, determining, authenticating and facilitating all without confirmation of authentication of a bearer of the token.

  • Publication number: 20150237068
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for targeted attack protection using predictive sandboxing. In exemplary embodiments, a method includes retrieving a URL from a message of a user and performing a preliminary determination to see if the URL can be discarded if it is not a candidate for sandboxing. The exemplary method includes computing a plurality of selection criteria factors for the URL if the URL passes the preliminary determination, each selection criteria factor having a respective factor threshold. The method can further include determining if any of the selection criteria factors for the URL exceeds the respective factor threshold for the respective selection criteria factor. Based on the determining, if any of the selection criteria factors exceeds the factor threshold for the selection criteria factor, the exemplary method automatically processes the URL using a sandbox.

  • Publication number: 20150226069
Abstract: A turbine airfoil includes: a concave pressure sidewall and a convex suction sidewall joined together at a leading edge and a trailing edge, and extending between a root and a tip; an internal rib extending between the pressure sidewall and the suction sidewall; and a crossover hole formed in the rib, the crossover hole having a noncircular cross-sectional shape with a major axis defining a maximum dimension of the cross-sectional shape; wherein the major axis of the crossover hole lies in plane with the rib and is non-parallel to an imaginary curvilinear lateral centerline which defines a locus of points lying halfway between the pressure and suction sidewalls. The orientation of the crossover holes minimizes stress concentration caused by the presence of the crossover holes.

  • Publication number: 20150220398
Abstract: A method of prioritizing data for recovery in a distributed storage system includes, for each stripe of a file having chunks, determining whether the stripe comprises high-availability chunks or low-availability chunks and determining an effective redundancy value for each stripe. The effective redundancy value is based on the chunks and any system domains associated with the corresponding stripe. The distributed storage system has a system hierarchy including system domains. Chunks of a stripe associated with a system domain in an active state are accessible, whereas chunks of a stripe associated with a system domain in an inactive state are inaccessible. The method also includes reconstructing substantially immediately inaccessible, high-availability chunks having an effective redundancy value less than a threshold effective redundancy value and reconstructing the inaccessible low-availability and other inaccessible high-availability chunks, after a threshold period of time.

  • Publication number: 20150220429
Abstract: A method of distributing data in a distributed storage system includes receiving a file into non-transitory memory and dividing the received file into chunks. The chunks are data-chunks and non-data chunks. The method also includes grouping one or more of the data chunks and one or more of the non-data chunks in a group. One or more chunks of the group is capable of being reconstructed from other chunks of the group. The method also includes distributing the chunks of the group to storage devices of the distributed storage system based on a hierarchy of the distributed storage system. The hierarchy includes maintenance domains having active and inactive states, each storage device associated with a maintenance domain, the chunks of a group are distributed across multiple maintenance domains to maintain the ability to reconstruct chunks of the group when a maintenance domain is in an inactive state.
